I've had a few people ask when we're doing superlatives next, so I guess it really is time I started thinking about them seriously. I'll probably put them up in January, but in order to do them I need to know:
1. Do we want to do Player Awards as well as Character? 2. Do you want the superlatives to be player nominated or admin nominated? 3. Since there are relationship awards, do you want the polls to include "Silver" "Gould" and "Mixed" for relationships? (Since we hold superlatives for both schools...) 4. Any recommended categories? Otherwise I'll go with the same ones we've done in the past.
Also, I fully intend to use the awards graphics for these as actual banners on our rotating header. I know, I haven't finished the quote ones. I'm sloooowly working on them!
Uhh, any other thoughts?

Hmmm good questions, I was pondering this the other night myself. Personally, I'd keep the player ones as a weekly thing, unless we did a player of the year. Also I know last time we did supers in Springwater, it was player nominated but we emailed the mods (this was before I was a mod) I ended up having two of my men nominated for most romantic male and I had no one else to compete with. I like the idea of the mixed relationship awards. I can't think of anything to add right now. Les

I think maybe a combination of both would be good. Like like players do nominations but then let the mods fill in the holes so if not enough charas are nominated they can add some and so on. I think also having mixed relationships is a good idea since there are some and they shouldn't be left out. As for player awards, I think they are good as long as they are specific, but at the same time as someone who has helped out with superlatives in the past, I know how much work they can be so if you want to leave some out, I'm okay with that. I also really like the idea of putting the banners up in rotation --when the time comes if you need help making them let me know

The reason I was wondering about player superlatives, is I know that in the past there've been some...ummm....hard feelings over them. Of course, in the past there was vote stacking, as well, and since I can see who votes now that I'm admin, that ain't gonna happen. (well, also that person is no longer around and nobody here is that tacky.) BUT I didn't want to just nix player superlatives if everybody wanted to have them.
And Cheryl, whenever we get to the superlatives, I'll delegate out who makes which ones. Thank you so much for the offer of help!

When I started out on this group, I was directed to the superlatives and I thought all of the categories were awesome I agree with Les for keeping the player awards to the banners alone except if there was a player of the year. I was involved in one forum that had a voting system where one award is mod picked and also player picked. But if that's too troublesome then maybe some are mod picked and come are player picked? Just my two cents worth. I think the relationship awards could be done as what you said, with 'Gould', 'Silver' and 'Mixed' as categories. I love ALL the old categories so keep em! And I would LOVE to help in any way I can so feel free to use me any way you want

That sounds good... maybe instead of having one massive voting fix for the superlatives.... we could space them out over a few weeks...
Three or four catogories a week until their all done.
Then have a player of the year award but that would have to exclude players that have been here less than two months say... if we put new players up for an award like player of the year, when they have only been here a very short time... I don't think it would be unfair but it wouldn't be right either.
No disrepect to any of our new players... but with a player of the year award their would need to be a cap on it... just my thoughts.

A couple of ideas here, one is to make the Player of the Year a mod choice only or else have one that is mod picked and the other is player picked?

I think if you're going to leave new people off the player of the year it would be good to have a most promising newcomer award as well. I haven't been here before for superlatives so I don't completely know what you're talking about. Is it like year book awards? Most likely things? If so I would like to nominate Nu for the Most Likely to be declared Manic.

Sort of like yearbook awards. There's "Best Portrayal of a Villian" "Best Smile" etc.
