Riley didn't have a date, so she saw no rush to get home...not that it was her home anymore. Jasper had already left school early to get his things out of their Compton apartment and into The Standard. They'd all have separate suites there. They could afford that now. She could afford extravagant things again. After all, she'd get her trust fund the next year so whatever money she used from her brother's could be easily paid back, not that he'd ever ask. And they'd both agreed to take care of their mother... And tomorrow was Jasper's birthday. Tomorrow the money could come in, which meant a credit card purchase could certainly be made today. Riley had dealt with being poor far better than Jasper had. She didn't mind being thrify since she liked old things anyway. But now that she could afford it...well, Riley just couldn't help herself. Growing up in New York Riley hadn't learned to drive yet because she hadn't really needed to. She had her permit but she didn't have a license yet. So she took the bus to a store she'd gone to on previous visits to LA, when she was still living on the East Coast. It was a vintage store that was known for selling old designer things. It had been one of Riley's favorites and now she could afford it once again. "Riley," the woman behind the counter said when she walked in, "it's been almost over a year...we were wondering what happened to you..." "I know, it's been awhile," Riley agreed, not filling her in on the past 6 months and how crazy everything had been. "How's New York?" "Just moved out West actually--so you'll be seeing a lot of me," she grinned. "That's delightful, dear," the older woman said. "Looking for anything particular." "It's my brother's birthday tomorrow...so something to wear to his party...anything new in?" "There is some great Dior from the 60s and Chanel from the 40s upstairs." "Sold," Riley said, "I'll go check them out." Oh she loved shopping here! Riley headed upstairs, easily getting lost in the racks and the decadent dresses. Now all she had to do was find the perfect one for Jazz's birthday tomorrow... Tag any

Aly knew she should not care what so ever what Jasper thought. After all he was a pig. Yet for some reason she wanted a dress that would make him eat his words. What a game they played. This back and forth, give and take thing they had going on. It was fun. She missed having a challenge. It was too easy these days. The best challenge she had was pranking Barney. Then again she would never, ever admit that to anyone.
Aly walked into one of the best stores ever created. She was unaware Riley was there. Yes, she and Riley had very similar taste in clothes. Aly smiled at the lady who did not need to say one word. All the lady did was smile, "Welcome Aly, upstairs. You might want to work quickly. I just sent another young lady that way. Good to see you my dear."
Aly smiled at the lady. The only time she was ever really nice, but this old lady deserved it. "Thank you." She gave a small laughed and headed up the stairs to check out all the old designer clothes. Dior, Channel, Ossie Clark, Mary Quaint and ever Pucci. There was always a ton to choose from. Aly could spend hours shopping.
Aly eyed a very hot silver Dior that she had to have. She took it from the rack and headed to the dressing room when she caught sight of a familiar person. What were the odds. It figured Riley and her would think alike. Aly smiled and walked over. "Thats so not your color." She smiled. "So you going to tell me why you conveniently forgot to call me for over a month?" Aly asked. She was curious after all, "No lying please."

"ALY!" Riley squealed, throwing her arms around the other girl. "Wait...seriously...I see you for the first time in...I don't even know how long and you insult my dress. Nice," she said rolling her eyes. "But yeah...not usually a fan of yellow but had to at least try it. After all, you know how I feel about Oscar de la Renta," she smirked. "I think I want something red though, with 40s hair and red lipstick--Jazz told me how he ran into you today and about the party," she explained.
Riley looked at the other dresses she'd picked out to try on, there was a black Chanel one, a red Gucci, and a red Yves Saint Laurent. She was saving the red ones to try on last because that's what she really wanted.
When Aly asked why she didn't call, Riley knew she couldn't tell the truth. Riley loved Aly, but she knew she'd never understand. "We were just settling in still," Riley said with a shrug. "Plus, LA is huge--New York might be the bigger city but all the important parts are all squished together--LA is so spread out. Plus, you know we always had cabs or limos. Jazz only just got his license. He's picking his car up tomorrow and I don't even have mine yet," she said. "Was going to call once we settled...probably soon, but I guess you ran into Jazz first." It all seemed plausible enough to Riley. She just hoped Aly believed her because coming up with more lies would be hard and there was no way that Riley was going to tell her the truth.

Aly smiled and hugged Riley back, "I did not consider what I said an insult. I like to think of it as me advising you from making a huge mistake with that dress." Aly told her. She nodded as Riley talked. She did not completely believe it, but she accepted it. She remembered when she moved. It did take a while to get settled. Took Aly months before she finally called her grandparents and Riley back in New York.
"Well its not that big. You and Jas go to my old school Silver. I just transfered in January because my father remarried. We have to live in El Segundo. Its nasty. I hate it." Aly told Riley. She was all about the truth. Why lie. It was embarrassing to get caught in a lie. "I like the idea. Jas should have a themed party. Right out of the early 1900's. I could get this hot Little flapper costume." Aly smiled. "But 1940's. I can see that. You would defiantly pull it off."
Aly sighed, "I miss New York so much. Jas is going to drive. Remind me never to get into a car with him. No offense, but the idea of Jas driving is kind of scaring." She laughed because she was joking. "I have my own car, but my dad wants me to always give Barney a ride. I don't think so. If jas is mean and leaves you behind let me know. I can pick you up." Aly offered. She looked at the dresses Riley had, "Red. defiantly the red one. What do you think of this silver Dior?" She held the dress up.

"Right, that's exactly how I'll think of it," Riley said sarcastically, but in a fun, teasing way. She grabbed the black dress and disappeared back into her dressing room, listening to her friend as she went on. "Yeah...it kind of is big. Compared to Manhattan," Riley said. "I could cab it across town in 15 minutes--I don't even know where El Segundo is, but I'm sure its farther than 15 minutes. Everything is totally spread out here." Riley knew Aly was pushing for the truth, but she wasn't going to get it. Riley usually wasn't a liar but this was different.
"Yeah...Jazz's theme will be alcohol," Riley said with a laugh. "I think he's pretty excited about the party, which is good. He's been so miserable since we moved here. I like it here," Riley said. "New York was awesome, but I like the whole laid back California thing. I think its more my style," she said. Plus, in New York everyone knew about them and their family business. Here...well, probably just as many people knew about it since it had been on the news, but less people made the connection that it was actually them because not as many people knew them here.
"Nah, Jazz is a pretty good driver," Riley said. "I don't mind him at least, but I wouldn't expect you to get in the car with him." She knew exactly how Jasper and Aly were together. As far as Riley was concerned they both needed to get over themselves and just go out with each other, but that wasn't an opinion she voiced exactly.
She stepped out of the dressing room once again to look in the mirror. "This one is nice," she said. "Could work if neither of the red ones do." She looked at the silver dress that Aly had. "I like it. You always look good in metallic...I don't think I can really pull those colors off unless they're like accessories or something," Riley said.

"You flatter me with your compliments." She said referring to her compliment about the metallic dress looking good. "I am just jealous I cannot pull off the reds, and green color dresses that you can. I either look like a tomato or a piece of broccoli. Not very flattering. I guess we all have out good looking colors am I right." Aly looked Riley over, "That one does look very good on you. I do hope you find a red on though. I always thought that color flattered you the most."
Aly meant it too. Aly was the kind of girl that wished she could wear any color she wanted, but sadly the colors of Christmas were ones she would have to do without. Red and Green just did not mix with her for some reason, but that was only because she loved the metallic colors the best. "You're right. I will never get in the car as long a he is behind the wheel. He is liable to spend too much time looking at himself in the mirror rather then watching then watching the road."
After Riley was done Aly went into change. She came out and checked out the mirror. She did like it. "I agree that this place is more spread out. Defiantly fun to explore all the new things to do, but I do miss being able to get across town in a millisecond." Aly replied to Riley. "I have to say I am damn glad you are here. I was beginning to think I would never see you again."

Riley simply shrugged. She didn't think her friend looked bad in either of their colors but to each their own. Plus, she knew Aly could be extremely particular about things. "Well, we'll see," Riley said, "if not red for tomorrow night, then red another time," she said. Sure, fashion was important to her, but Riley was very open minded when it came to fashion. She even customized her own things sometimes to make them really unique.
"So who all is coming to the party?" Riley asked, wondering if she'd even know the names of the other guests. She hadn't really been social towards the popular crowd at Silver. She'd kind of been keeping to herself, mostly because she hated admitting her past. She probably should invite Fin though...she'd hung out with him a bit while they were sharing a locker at Gould and thought that he'd be fun to have at the party. She'd have to send him a text tomorrow. "Jazz mentioned he left you and one of your friends in charge of the guest list," Riley explained.
"Yeah...small world, huh," Riley said. "Never thought I'd end up out here," she admitted, wondering if she should explain. Was it possible to explain without explaining her dad? No...she wouldn't say anything. It was better that way. Riley walked back into the dressing room to try on one of the red ones.

Aly did a twirl in the silver dress that came off her shoulder. She liked it a lot, but she would look around some more. "We could both wear paper bags and we would still be hot. Is it bad if we out shine the birthday boy." Aly smiled as she continued to look around some more. She laughed when Riley asked about the guest list. "Sarah Brody. Popular cheerleader. A real bitch. Which is why I love her." Aly told Riley. "She and I complied a list of only the most elite at Silver and Gould. You might not know the ones who go to Gould, but the people from silver include people like Haley Rowan, Trixie Michaels, Ashton Johnson. You know the popular crowd." She smirked, "Jas would only want the elite after all. Which is why I might invite a few of the nerds. It could be fun to see the look on his face if I were to invite people like the two who fought in the cafe or that chick with the brother. Their last name is warner I think. I only know that because I keep thinking of Time Warner cable." Aly laughed. "You inviting anyone special?" Aly asked nudging her friend. "Small world or not...its good you are in it. This place will grow on you trust me." She found a black Foil Printed Microfiber Halter Dress. It was cute, but defiantly not vintage. "Looks like this place is starting to sell non vintage dresses too." She held it up to Riley. "Its cute. i might try it on for fun." Which she did. Aly came back out and looked at herself in the mirror. "This is defiantly a sex little number. What do you think? Silver or this one?" She asked her friend. Riley nodded when Aly mentioned Sarah. Riley knew who she was. She'd never really spoken to the more popular girl before, but she did seem like a bitch. It figured that Aly liked her anyway. Riley had been friends with Aly since they were kids so she'd never admit it to Aly's face, but Aly could be a bit of a bitch herself. Although Riley could be spoiled at times, she was never really mean to anyone else.
Re-emerging from the dressing room in the first red dress--the Yves Saint Laurent one--and frowned. "I thought this one would be cuter...oh well," she said, a little disappointed. She turned to look at her friend. "Yeah, that's not vintage," she said. "And quite revealing, but if ya have it, flaunt it," Riley said with a shrug. Riley tended to dress more conservatively, but that was just her.
"Oh...I met this one guy at Gould...it's not like anyone I have a thing for or anything, just a friend, but I might invite him. Jazz isn't exactly too fond of him...he tends to assume the worst and hate any guy that I talk to, so if he actually comes and invites his friends I'm sure there will be guests there that Jazz doesn't approve of," Riley joked. "Plus, its Jazz's birthday--I don't really want to ruin it for him," Riley said.
"I'm going to go try on the other one...and this one..." Riley said, as a white one with black polka-dots caught her eye. "Be right back," she said, heading back into the changing room.

Looks at the dress Riley tried on, "It was a cute choice." Sucks it did not look good. "I have a feeling jas might get so drunk and disappear with someone before he even notices who is at the party."
Looks back at the mirror once more. Aly was vain and a bitch. Nothing new there. Its the way she liked it. "The more the merrier I am sure. The more people to show up. The better the party. Might need to hire someone in case a fight breaks out."
Looks at the dresses Riley has, "Go for the poka-dots. Its cute." She pointed out. "Damn I like this one, but I think I will wear the Silver one. I like what it shows, but not for the party." Waited for Riley to change first, "How are you enjoying Silver? Different from private school right?"
Leaned against the wall, "Not sure I like it completely. I admit I kind of miss private school, but its honestly not bad once you get use to it." Odds are Riley adjusted by now. She always adjusted to changes faster then her and Jas. When Riley came out in the dress, "Now thats a nice one. Very nice. Looks good on you." Aly had to admit she missed shopping with Riley. The girl had style.
