Ashton had taken his car out for a spin, he was trying in vain he thought to escape the sunday madness that had over taken his father, who had tried to insist that they needed to work out on team manuvers all day, the man had no concept of giving his children time off at the weekend, if you weren't working on something he didn't seem all that inclined to allow you some kind of life.
It wasn't the life you thought you deserved that mattered, no it was the life that he believed you were worth, it was the most annoying part of being the son of the coach, he wanted to ride your ass 24/7 and Ashton had really had enough of this tendency years ago, the only reason he had not moved out already was because his sister would still have to put up with it, and he would put that off for as long as possible for her sake.
So even through the cold weather Ashton found him walking down the beach kicking up lose sand as he went, hands in his pockets eyes down, trying to get his father out of his head, not caring where he walked or why, he knew where his car was, so why should he care how far he walked. So long as he remembered where to go to get back to his car that was.

As cliche as it might sound, Sadie needed to clear her head and as much as anyone really, she felt like sitting alone in a peaceful environment would help that out. So here she was, walking along the beach during lunch period. She knew she shouldn't be, she should be back at school, classes would restart shortly and Sadie couldn't afford missing one. Well, afford shouldn't the word, more like didn't want to, since she never ever skipped classes.
Her thoughts raced back from her two most acute problems, which were getting a job and getting a roomie. Money wasn't rolling in as easily as it first did, when her father agreed to send her away to Cali for both of their sakes and Sadie would do just about anything before having to ask her father for more. Her pride got the best of her in those circumstances...
Up until now, she had plans of stopping by the major bookstores in town and ask if they might have an opening - that's it. She knew she needed a back-up plan, she knew she should be willing to do less... interesting jobs, but she never actually got around to finishing that list she had started last night. Getting locked in tat creepy hospital wasn't the highlight of the night and all the good she could take from last night's experience was yet another problem to worry about: Sarah's upcoming birthday. Sure, that was way more fun than searching for jobs and room mates, but still something more to keep her mind busy and that she couldn't afford right now.
As it turned out to be, all those thoughts were too much of a distraction and Sadie failed to see another mildly distracted guy coming towards her and both merely bumped straight into each other, Sadie looking up 5 seconds before the crash and stepping aside. "Sorry" she mumbled, a bit surprised with the 'almost accident'. "I wasn't looking" she added, now facing the guy in front of her.

Ashton smiled at her as they just avoided hitting each other, he hadn't really been paying attention to what was in front of him, lost in his own thoughts, so he was probably as much to blame for what nearly happened as the girl was.
"Its no trouble, after all neither of us ended up on our butts, I think we could have hurt a couple of egos if we had." Ashton said to her. "Are you okay?" he asked as her politely.
Ashton had come out to escape his own personal nightmare, the girl looked like she may have been trying to do the same, but he said nothing about it, she seemed to be okay though, and neither of them had been hurt by the other.
"I'm Ashton, or you can just call me the boy you almost knocked over." Ashton said with a cheeky smile. "Don't worry about it seriously, accidents happen or not in this case." Ashton assured her.
He looked around the beach, wondering how it was that the two of them could almost have an accident, on an otherwise deserted area of the beach, even the tourists were not near the beach today, oh well he thought to himself, somethings happen.

"I'm fine" she replied, smiling sweetly at him as a reassuring measure. And she was, at least physically. Her mind on the other hand, was racing a thousand miles an hour and the near crash was actually a blessing from that point of view because now she drew a blank and was able to focus on the here and now.
She laughed at his introduction. "Sadie and I think I'll stick with just Ashton for now, since it would otherwise remind me of one of my less than finest moments... But you're welcome to call me 'the girl who almost knocked you over' since you earned that title fair and square. Then again it might not be that flattering, being knocked down by a girl..." she pondered, a slight frown across her face as she stared into the horizon for a few seconds. "Better stick to names" she concluded, looking back up at him.
"Well good thing it didn't, because sand might hurt less but it definitely would be messy" she smiled again. Talking to this guy about frivolous things such as near collisions and sand seemed to work wonders for distraction and Sadie wasn't ready to give that up just yet.
"I would ask what brought you to the beach this fine morning, but I guess the answer's quite obvious... Getting knocked down by anonymous girls" she joked.

Ashton chuckled, "I live to be knocked over by women at the beach, its better than any pick up line I could come up with." Ashton said acting all seriously. "Okay well thats not exactly the truth, but you might like to think its better than some cheesy chat up line." Ashton said to her.
"What I am here for though is to escape the madness of my home life, don't ever have your father as your head coach on a team, or at least not if his as overbearing as the one I have." Ashton said to her. "Its the weekend and I should be able to relax just a little, but no I am expected to be training every hour of the day of my weekend, or some such twoddle." Ashton said to her.
"I came here to think believe it out or not, or just get some fresh air, anyway you don't need to know my troubles, what brings you down here, its not like its the good weather, anyone who thinks its all sun bathing and heat in LA is a bit of an idiot I think, they obviously haven't seen it when it rains." Ashton said with a smile as he looked out to the see.

Sadie laughed yet again. "True, at least it's original" she couldn't help but agreeing with him. "And it might work sometime, so don't give up just yet" she further encouraged him, joking. He went on to explaining the reason he was outside on a not so pleasant day such as today, to which she slowly nodded. No, she had no idea what it was to have a father like his, but she did know how fathers could be. Hers wasn't exactly the easiest to deal with, so she certainly could relate, even though in a quite different way.
"Fathers..." she spoke up, trying to smile. "Why do they always seem to think they know what's best for us even though it's our life and not theirs?" she questioned, while managing to keep things as vague as possible. "You could say I'm doing the same thing and maybe that's why we nearly collapsed into each other" she told him, that smile finally showing up now. "I have some problems to deal with, even though I reckon mine are simpler than yours. Nothing beats family issues, I should know..."
She pondered for a second or so on whether to tell him or not, but decided towards doing it. He had been honest enough with her, telling about his father and how tough he could be - and that actually made her feel better, for at least a split second, so she owed him that much - and people often say spilling out your problems to somebody else could be helpful, especially strangers. Well, Ashton was just that...
"I'm a little short on money, trying to think of possible jobs and even considering a roommate, to split rent with me..."
