Thad hobbled into the cafeteria with as much energy as could muster with crutches. He still had a stack of Sidra's anti-werewolf fliers, but so far nobody other than Roxy or Ezmeralda had shown the least bit interested in a war between creatures of the night.
The problem with the two school's sharing space was lack of room to sit during lunch. He failed to spot either Roxy or Ezzy, or even Taki or Si or Fal, which was disappointing, because he knew any of them would have dumped someone out of their seat for him. Well, maybe Si wouldn't have; She probably would have rolled her eyes if he even considered requesting she do such a thing.
He flung himself into the first open seat he found, which happened to be next to a boy about his own height and age, and slapped his stack of fliers onto the cafeteria table. Food was of secondary importance when compared with the threat the werewolves presented. Which meant, of course, Hunter, though it was unlikely the older boy knew that the youngest Cotton was following the eldest's vendetta against him.
"Hey." He peered intently at his neighbor before sliding one flier over. "Wanna wage war?" He glanced about to see if anyone was listening before dropping his voice to a stage whisper. "Got a problem with strays, see, gotta 'sterminate 'em."

He had never been one to enjoy lunchtime in a public setting, and when the setting was in an unfamiliar school cafeteria with a multitude of completely new faces...
Well, let's just say the nausea he felt wasn't caused by the cafeteria food.
Despite Shane's earlier reassurances, Sebastian Flambert had drifted about aimlessly around campus in utmost confusion, bumbling his locker combination, getting lost in the hallways, and (much to the amusement of his new classmates) stuttering a stream of "Fran-glish" apologies at his unimpressed World Literature instructor.
To be blunt, it was a fairly bad day... and was made even worse by the boy forgetting to add the necessary condiments on his hamburger.
"Wanna wage war?" quipped a voice to his left, snapping Sebastian out of his retrospection, "Got a problem with the strays, see.. gotta' 'sterminate 'em."
Before the startled Sebastian could respond, a flyer stamped with a variety of werewolf-related material found its way into his hands, prompted by the other boy.
"......"
Sebastian glanced over the paper in utter confusion, eyeing his new companion with a wary glance. His counterpart was almost identical to him in height and build, the mascara-lined eyes of his slightly feminine features immediately drawing the boy's attention.
"..........."
Crutches?
After what seemed like an eternity of awkward silence, the boy opened his mouth to speak.
"I... erm.." spoke Sebastian tenatively, completely confused.
"I-I d-don't quite follow..."
"In f-fact.. I-I'm not q-quite sure...."
"W-what you're tal.. talking about.."
A bemused look seemed to fall on the other boy's face, prompting Sebastian to glance downwards in embarrassment.
"I'm sor-sorry.."

Thad tilted his head to one side, eyeing Sebastian in almost as much confusion as Sebastian was showing towards him. "You don't wan' them were-types to win, do ya?" He demanded. He couldn't imagine that anyone other than Hunter would actually choose the lycans over vampires. He wished that Sidra were there; she would know exactly what to say in order to persuade his neighbor to join their crusade. In his mind, his eldest sister knew everything.
"Vampires're way cooler. You gotta pick sides, man!" He urged; most of the people he'd attempted to convert had expressed doubts that either side was better than the other, but that was only because they didn't realize the serious threat that weres posed to the world. "They gon' win an' take over the world, then you're gon' wanna say you was on their side." He explained as though this was the most obvious thing in the world.
After a moment it occurred to him that he didn't know this other boys name; he hadn't know the name of the boy yesterday, either, but Roxy had chased him off before that could be asked -- although Thad hadn't any idea why someone would be afraid of Roxy, of all people; she was one of the most awesome people in the universe.
"Name's Thad," He greeted, extending one hand expectantly. "You from Gould? Don't rec'nize ya." Of course, just because he didn't recognize the other boy didn't mean anything; he didn't know every single student who attended Gould, and they were always welcoming transfer students. After all, Taki was fairly new -- and Thad really missed his Japanese friend. He'd hardly seen the other boy since the light house incident. That needed to be rectified.
"My sister is a vampire." He added, in case somehow someone had not gotten the memo that Sidra stalked the halls with fangs.

"Sebastian."
Extending his arm in return, Sebastian slowly shook his new companion's hand, smiling softly. He was rewarded with an equally sincerce grin popping out from Thad's face.
"I-I'm a bit new here.." quipped Sebastian softly, eyeing the rest of the cafeteria with mild apprehension. "Today's my f-first day."
He glanced back down at the flyer, before reaching towards a small vanilla ice-cream bar on his lunch tray. Unwrapping the treat, Sebastian carefully brought the confectionary to his mouth, nibbling away.
His first impression of Thad was.. odd, to say the least. Though several minutes had passed since the other boy's sudden proposal of "werewolf-hunting", Sebastian still had no idea what in god's name his latest acquaintence was talking about. Vampires? Werewolfs?
Someone's sister was a vampire?
"...."
After several moments in careful thought, Sebastian decided to play along with the other boy's prosposal, noting that he had absolutely hadn't talked to anyone else during his first day at school.
Eccentric company, after all, would be preferable to no company.. and so far, the other kid hadn't made fun of his tendency to stutter when nervous.
"Is s-she?" spoke Sebastian in response, one of his eyes cocking curiously.
"I h-haven't met many v-vampires before.."
From the corner of his eye, he saw an ominous glob of mashed potatoes flying in midair, aimed directly at him. A sickly *splatt* resounded as a spoonful of potatoes struck him square in the shoulder, staining his red button-up polo.

"Yeah?" Thad beamed, feeling pleased with himself for finding a new person; Sebastian wasn't going to have any pre-concieved notions of Sidra and Hunter's battle, so perhaps he would be more easily influenced than most of his peers.
"Great. You gonna go to the bowlin' thing-a-majig on uhh when is it, Sunday I think, man, I guess I gotta figger out for sure, but it'll be fun. Taxi'll be there, he's new, too. And I dunno who all else. Roxy and Ez, prolly, least, they'd better be."
He wouldn't know what to do with himself if his two best friends didn't show up. He also wasn't sure if bowling with crutches would be possible, but as long as neither his mother nor his step-mother forbid him from going he would make the attempt; maybe he'd see if he could function without the crutches, even. Six weeks. Pshaw! He'd be damned if he was going to stay on crutches for a whole six weeks; he couldn't climb out the bedroom window to visit Roxy with crutches.
"Yeah," Thad said again, pointing across the cafeteria to a very pale girl with pink hair wearing a corset. "See?" He hoped sincerely that Sebastian wouldn't question how she was attending school during the day; Lia's comments had been annoying enough, he didn't need another person making Twilight comments at his sister. After all, if she ever got wind of that, she'd blame him for it.
"That's Si. You got -- " He began, but before he could finish his question a food missile landed on his companion's shoulder. Thad whipped around to find where the food had flown from; he almost regretted not grabbing lunch, now that a food fight was imminent.
"You see who threw that?!" He demanded. "Mus' be them weres. Knew war was comin'."

Ezzie was feeling happier these last few days. It was nice after seeing her friends the day before. She needed to be perked up. Roxy and Thad had a way of doing that. She had no idea what she would do without them. Everyone needed at least a few good friends. Those people you could count on in the toughest of times. Ezzie decided to get back to being herself just a little. She wore blue jeans, with a flower design and a yellow t-shirt that said 'Flower Power' on it. Her hair was pulled into a pony tail and makeup was expertly applied as usual.
Ezzie had a fairly boring day in school. She was glad for lunch time, although she hat to stay after class for a chat with her teacher. Not cool, but not unexpected. That first week and a half after her sister was killed, Ezzie had seriously slacked on school work, and it did not escape her teachers notice. She had to do some extra credit to make up for it, but that was something she could manage now that she was getting back into the swing of things.
She grabbed her lunch from her locker. It was filled with black beans and rice and ham croquetas. The best Hispanic food ever made. Ezzie came to the lunch room and scanned the room. She immediately spotted Thad. Ezzie smiled and practically ran over to the table just in time to see some new kid get pelted with what looked like a blob of something. "I think we might want to make a break for it. Looks like a food fight is about to start..." Ezzie said right as she was pelted with pasta...noodles were falling off her shirt now. Thank god there was no sauce attached. Ezzie looked at the new guy and Thad.
"Thad did you just throw food at me with your mind...not cool." She said with a laugh. Then Ezzie looked at the new guy and waved. "Hi. I am Ezzie, nice to meet you."

Alexia was brimming with excitement as she rushed out of her class to get to lunch. Getting to her locker, she made sure she got all the books for the periods after lunch before heading towards the cafeteria.
She was going to be spending time with Mew and Maggy after school in the park clean up. Well not so much Mew than Maggy but she will be in close proximity with the boy and that was more or less enough for the dark-haired junior. But now she just had to finish lunch, finish school and then she was able to gawk at her crush as he flexed his essentially non-existent muscles.
Of course she did a lot of that during swimming practices but to see him outside of that would be pretty neat.
Thinking a good dose of noise from the cafeteria would do good to drown out her excitement for a little while, she entered the canteen and was immediately hit with a glob of sloppy joes straight in her face with some of the meat dripping down her grey checkered vest. "Oh my God." She whispered to herself before someone shoved her into a table with two guys, one of the boys she recognised while the other was foreign to her, and a girl...was that Ezmerelda Lopez?...standing up. She ended up on the lap of the guy with way too much eye make-up. She recognised him as one of the Cotton siblings. Thaddeus, she reckoned.
In that instance, she was quite glad that her face was filled with disgustingly icky meat. Thad couldn't see her blush. "Thad...been awhile." She wiped her face with her white cotton shirt sleeve and straightened herself up before the back of her head got hit with something slimy and wet that ran down her back making her jump around to get rid of the sticky substance. "Isn't this fun." She smiled at Thad mirthlessly.

Good God...
What started with a few spoonfuls of mashed potatoes almost immediately escalated into a full-blown apocalypse of chicken fingers, pasta, and peas as table after table exploded with a flurry of flying lunch.
A gigantic wad of half-eaten bread slapped Sebastian across the face, followed by a large carrot stick smacking solidly on his forehead.
"Mon Dieu!"
A chicken stick narrowly missed him by inches, giving him good reason to scowl in disdain. Incensed by the suddeness of this attack, Sebastian let loose towards the direction of the initial assault with a reckless abandon, hurling the contents of his own lunch tray.
"Filthy bastards...." cursed Sebastian heatedly in French, tossing another bread roll, "Disgusting filthy sons of-"
He paused in mid-sentence as he realized that another person was trying to talk to him.
"Erm..." muttered Sebastian sheepishly, "M-my name's, S-Sebastian.."
A pink plastic lunch tray hurled towards Ezzie's, poised to cause some serious damage to the pretty girl's face. Spotting the flying object from the corner of his eye, Sebastian reacted in lightning speed, yanking his new acquaintance out of the way just in time.
The plate missed Ezzie by inches, and struck another unlucky girl in the chest with considerable force..
Anarchy raged in the cafeteria, the room turning into a messy free-for-all with no lines of battle to distinguish friend from foe. Already, the teachers were charging into the scene..
"I feel that we ought to leave!" shouted Sebastian over the din, temporarily overcoming his shyness.
A steak finger pelted him in the face, bouncing into Thad's lap.
"Let's get out of here!"

"Aw, Ezzy, can't b'lieve ya think I'd do somethin' like that." He snickered, wiping at the spaghetti sauce now adorning his sleeves, though for all his (admittedly rather feeble) efforts he only succeeded in rubbing the sauce into his sleeve instead of removing it. "I ain't got nuttin' to do with it, blame them dogs."
He blinked in surprise as a girl suddenly wound up in his lap. "Oh, hey..." He couldn't bring her name to mind; he was fairly sure she was a Junior, so Sidra would know her. "Uhh. I'm flattered and all, but I kinda like someone already." He informed her, as though she had somehow wound up in his lap on purpose. Because, really, why wouldn't she have jumped in his lap? After all, Roxy and Ezzy had fought over him during the ghost hunt -- which was the one reason he was not asking Roxy out; he didn't want to hurt Ezzy's feelings by choosing her best friend over her, not when he was friends with both of them.
"Get out?" Thad echoed, peeling mashed potatos off his shirt and flinging them carelessly into the crowds. "But it's jus' gettin' fun!" He protested, gesturing towards the mayhem with far more enthusiasm than the situation warranted. Then he glanced in the direction Sebastian was looking, and realized why a hasty retreat was necessary. Teachers always interfered in everything fun.
He scrambled to his feet as best he could, scattering the fliers he'd brought. "Eerrr, which way we gon' go?" He asked, grabbing for his crutches and looking about wildly; he didn't care that he was now covered from head to toe in food, but he did not want to be caught like this by his teachers. First police, then teachers; he really couldn't stay out of trouble with the authorities. Well, he had no intentions of getting caught this time!

Ezzie laughed as Thad said how can she think he would do it, "Because i know you, and a food fight is right up your ally." She said with a smile. Then everything else seemed to happen fast. The food fight got more intense. She laughed as Sebastian joined in. And then another woman, Ezzie new went to Gould, but could place a face. She knew the girl had been in Sierra's, her sisters grade. Maybe the girl knew her sister. "Hi nice of you to join us." She told the girl with a smile. "Just in time for flying food."
"Wait you like someone Thad...now you have to tell me...maybe I can help..." It was news her best friend liked someone, but she was happy for him. She was unaware it was their other best friend he liked or else Ezzie would have to set Thad straight. For now ezzie had no idea who Thad liked and she was willing to help him get this mystery girl, but before Thad could say anything Ezzie felt someone pull on her and right as she felt her body move closer to Sebastian she saw a tray go by just missing her. "Thanks I think you just saved me from a ton of pain. I owe you. Muchas gracias." She told him thankful he helped her out.
"I agree maybe if we duck we can make it out. I say we go that way. it leads outside, but its the closest door we got to make a run or a break for it..." She forgot for a moment Thad had crutches. "Need help Thad." she asked her friend. However, the doors were not that far, and all of them already had food all over them. Hopefully they could make it with out any more food hitting them.
