"Yes, well, I will try to remember that. Subtle has never really been my strong suite." she shrugged with a grin of her of her own. "The super man of food?" she gave him a quizzical look. "And just what would superman of food's super power be exactly. Aside from the stomach of steel. What purpose would said stomach serve to mankind?" she asked wondering what such a talent, gift, power, whatever, would serve. "To save man from really bad food?"
She felt she was in no position to call anyone else lame. To alto of people she herself would be considered such a person. Not that there was anything particularly bad or wrong with that.
"Ah, yes, ancient. But I couldn't think of a more modern reference that seemed fitting of the occasion." She wasn't exactly the most knowledgeable or up-to-date person when it came to video games. Sure, she liked playing them, but she didn't keep up with the latest fads.
"I don't think most people are aware of it. Unless you go inside or know someone who has been there, most don't know about the food. I wouldn't have if my dad hadn't taken me." she said as she looked up and down the road and then darted across the street and waited for Gray to join her.

Taegan's humor, albeit tame, made Gray smile. Which made him wonder just how much he liked Taegan already.
He laughed at Taegan's assumption of what his superpowers were. "Who knows? Maybe." He shrugged before crossing the road behind her and entering the place. "Well I don't know either." He replied when she commented on modern references of videogames. "Goes to show how much I step out of the house." He grinned before turning to her. "So...you know this place better, why not you choose what I should eat?" Gray asked, making a sweeping gesture at the store as he stepped back for her to pass.
"And remember, superman of food." Gray patted his stomach a few times before abruptly stopping because it was a stupidly lame-ass move which might inherently cause Taegan to run away from him. He wouldn't blame her, he really wouldn't. In fact, he would really like to sway her from coming later on for the jamming session. But no...somehow he wanted to impress her. Why? He didn't know either. All he knew was that Taegan seemed like a really cool person to hang out with and he would like to know more of her.
And if his excitement over seeing her previously was not any indication, he was really starting to like her. Might even start to have a crush on her? He knows it's way too soon but having crushes are normal...weren't they? As long as he didn't make it too obvious then it's all going to be fine.

Taegan could relate to the whole not getting out of the house much. She didn't get all out that much herself. Though she had been doing a little better. Or she had been until she had to leave town for that period of time. So, now she was trying to get back into the habit of making herself get out more. "I can't say much, I don't get all that much myself." she admitted with a shrug. "But I am working on changing that. It's kind of my Senior resolution, rather than a New Years Resolution. I made one for my senior year. It was to get out more, meet people and actually I guess make memories as cheesy as that sounds."
She walked into the store with him. She looked at him when he suggested that she ought to just order for him. "My, my, you are a trusting soul aren't you." She wouldn't get anything too crazy or off the wall. Maybe a couple good greasy burgers, or a good sandwich. That sounded tempting.
"OK, Mr. Superman of Food. I'll be right back." she walked up to the counter and spoke the man on the other side. She ordered herself a club sandwich with side of honey mustard dipping sauce. She ordered for Gray as well. The man wrung her up and she paid and she walked back over to Gray. It be a couple minutes or so for them to make the sandwiches.
She liked hanging out with him as well. Even though they had really only just met. But she didn't feel as uncomfortable around him as she did some people. She liked anyone that she didn't get that uneasy feeling with. Now would she say she was developing a crush? No at this time. But was Gray someone who she could possible develop a crush on? Yes, he possibly was. But she wasn't really looking for anyone right now. She was content making new friends.

He nodded understandingly before letting her go get their sandwiches. As he waited, he took in his surroundings with a grimace. It didn't look like it amounted to much but hell, if Taegan brought him to a tattoo parlour that served up a mean chilly cheese fries, he'd go.
Once she came back with their orders, he suggested they walk back to school eating them. "That way we can finish them off easier because we're burning more." He shrugged at the suggestion. When Taegan said it was a good idea, they started to walk back with their sandwiches in hand. As he unwrapped his, it didn't look like much but when he bit into it, he tasted things he'd never tasted before. It was pretty good and he told Taegan as such.
On the walk back to school, Gray took them in a longer route so they could finish their sandwiches still have time to talk. They pretty much talked about everything under the sun. She was quite closed up about her family, only revealing that she had a brother and she lived with her father. He didn't dig any deeper than that because he understood missing parental units.
He discovered inadvertently of her love for Snoopy and her dislike of storms. He had to practically squeeze it out of her but he found out her favourite movie and song. It also dawned on him that Taegan was a wise ass. In a good way though. They spent most of their time sparring with words and he found that he really liked it.
Gray's sandwich was finished just in time for them to arrive in school. Tossing the wax paper the sandwich came in into a nearby dustbin, he turned to Taegan with a huge grin on his face. "That was...interesting." He started, talking about the sandwich he had just finished. "So will you uh...be coming for the jamming session?" He didn't realise how hopeful he sounded.

It wasn't all that long of a walk from where they had gotten their lunch back to school. But they had not gotten in real rush. Gray had taken them by a different route that allowed them a few extra minutes to eat and chat. She wasn't always the most forth coming person with information. It wasn't like she was trying to hide anything. It wasn't really that. She couldn't really explain it. She just didn't see her situation really being anything so odd or unusual that it deemed a lot of explanation. She came from a single parent household, she had one sibling. That was about all she felt most people really needed or cared to know. But the more she talked with Gray the more she slowly began to reveal.
She thought for sure her cheeks were going to turn bright red when she admitted her love for the famous beagle. Here she was a senior in high school and she still loved this one particular cartoon character. What could she say? She wasn't ready to completely grow up and leave her youth and childhood behind her.
As for the storms. Her fear and dislike of those was getting better. She no longer had to hide under the covers of her fathers bed, or in her closet. Now she had more of a love/hate relationship. She still disliked the crashing, rolling thunder. But watching the sky light up with the flashes of lighting. Was something that could be awe inspiring.
She threw her own trash away and put her hands back into her back pockets. "I see I haven't sent you running yet, thinking I'm some immature, cowardly little girl." she grinned. Glancing at him and then looking down at the ground for a moment. She looked back up when he asked if she were still coming to the jamming session.
"If you still want me there." she said softly. "I"ll be there."

"What!? Why would I run away?" Gray exclaimed in surprise. "Just because a bit of lightning makes you want to squeeze your eyes tightly and you still like cartoons doesn't make you an immature girl. Silly." He nudged her lightly with his shoulder, careful not to push too hard.
With her sudden shyness, Gray couldn't help but pay close attention to how it made practically her whole body shift. Like everything in her accommodated her shyness somehow. If only she had enough self-confidence in her...
When she looked up at him with those eyes, he was sure his heart skipped a beat. Great. All his years of building a bad ass reputation was going to crumble just because he had a crush on a girl a year his senior. Brilliant.
"Yeah...uh...I still...you should come." He nodded, gulping inaudibly as he stepped backwards a few paces. "I'll see you here after school. Or uh...let me give you my address..." he rummaged through his backpack and found a pen and took her hand and wrote down his address on the palm of her hand with no regards to whether she was ticklish or if she even gave him permission to write on her.
Once his address was written down, he started to wave at Taegan. "Thanks for the sandwich." He said as he quickly disappeared from her.

He didn't think she was weird or immature for those things. That was reassuring. "That's good to know." She grinned and when he nudged her shoulder, she pushed back lightly as well. Even her hardest push would have probably seemed fairly light to him.
He seemed to stammer a little over his answer to her question. She had either caught him off guard or he had to give that question some thought before he answered. But he was telling her to met him here, or just to come on over to his place. So, may be she had just caught him off guard. Right? She would rather believe that than the other option.
Then he was taking her hand and writing his address on her palm. It did tickle a little. And she jerked her hand just ever so slightly. When he had finished she looked down at the address he had written. She could find that. It shouldn't be that difficult. "Well, if I don't see you here. Then I'll see you there."
"You're welcome. It wasn't any trouble. You covered lunch the other day. You didn't have to do that, and I felt kind of bad that you did. Especially consider how little I ate. So, this was my way of saying 'thank you' to you." she smiled.
