Thad bounced behind his sisters, eager to witness the unveiling. He made sure to make appropriately awed noises as Fallon showed off her creation. "'s great!" He told her, throwing his hands up over his head in celebration. "Love love love loooooooove it! Go Fal! You should totally be a designer."
He had told her this before, but it bore repeating. He was always terribly impressed with her talents. Unlike his sisters he did not sew or really make much of anything, unless you counted throwing together random bits and pieces from the thrift store together as creating. He didn't think it was much of a talent, though, if he needed something altered he had to ask one of the girls. They probably would have taught him had he asked, but he had more important things to do with his time than rip up his clothing on purpose -- like ripping it climbing trees. Or singing songs from musicals at people. Or leveling up his Pokemon. Really, really important stuff.
"Didn't think so," He grinned, pleased that Fallon at least would back him up on the glitter. "Mebbe we kin all wear fangs, be diff versions of vampries," He suggested, "All the ways pop culture screws 'em up." Twilight was not the only vampire series Si had lectured him on, it just happened to be the most recent. "I'll be Stephanie Meyers!Vamp, Fal can be Anne Rice!Vamp, and you can be..." He paused, wrestling between the remaining vampire writers. "Laurell K Hamilton!Vamp." He decided at last. He had almost said Charlaine Harris, but decided the more provocative Hamilton would be easier to represent...and would annoy their mother and step-mother more.
"Ugh, f'real, gotta be some family'd take her," He agreed with Fallon's sentiments, then thought better of it. "Naw, what'm I sayin', our mom's th'only person crazy enough to think she's okay." He grimaced at their mother's craziness.

Fallon squeaked with excitement. "Thank you very much. I try." She loved it when people liked her clothing. It gave her much needed boost. Especially when all Sandra would say is why cant she make something more normal. First who was she to define normal. Second, normal was overrated. "Glad you like it. We all know the Harlot would say its too dark or something. I should use brighter colors." Fal made a disgusted face.
"Like she knows fashion. Have you seen what she wears? I will have you know that Hot Topic wishes they had designs like these. Bright colors are not the style kids are looking for. Just look at Roxy and Ezzie. The brightest thing there is their personalities. Not the clothes. Except maybe the tutu." Fallon laughed.
"And they think I am the crazy one." She shook her head. "Yeah right. I was not crazy enough to get caught in a school. No offense Thad." Then again Her and Si both attended that school too. They all found them.
Fal laughed at Thad's suggestion of Vampires, "I think i would make one hell of a Queen of the Damned. OR were you thinking more Interview with the Vampire." Fal smiled.

The dress was a vision and literally sucked the breath from Sidra’s lungs when she saw it. Standing motionless (like the dead) for the span of several heartbeats the teen inhaled a breath greedily after her lungs began to complain. Stupid necessity. Thankfully she didn’t need to say anything right away, her far more boisterous, younger brother did all the talking right away.
Slowly, Si stepped forward. Forgetting for a moment to use her usual gliding gait.
“Fal…” she breathed reaching a hand out to brush the black and white stripped fabric with the tips of her fingers. “It’s perfect! I won’t wear it to the picture, gonna destroy the pink thing and wear it, but this- I want this!” And she did. While Si knew that her younger sister was talented, the most of what she saw her make was fairytale fantasy like costumes. But this was something that Sidra would wear and with more pride than she would ever admit to aloud.
That’s what blogs were for.
Turning to Thad, “First, I don’t have time to custom order you fangs. Second if you’re wearing glitter you are NOT wearing fangs. EVER.” That he would even suggest such a thing was a testament to how well the siblings got along. They could tease, poke, and push buttons, but when it came right down to it, they were a clan.
“No Anne Rice. No Stephanie Meyers. No no nono and again I say, loudly and clearly, NO.” He was teasing her, and Fallon too.
“Vampires are horror, not… fantasy. Not romantic. They don’t whine about their eternal life, they embrace it. Breeders and bleeders are there for food and sport, nothing more!”
Still, Si had to admit that the costuming in Queen of the Damned was gorgeous and if anyone could pull it off it would be Fal. BUT she wouldn’t hear of it. Vampires were not, never had been, never would be ‘cute’.

"How could ya miss her clothes?" Thad wrinkled his nose, "I always thought Californians were, like, super trendy or whatev, but apparen'ly not. " He would never admit it aloud, but Sandra had the potential to be very attractive. She just didn't really approve of make up, even for girls, because it wasn't natural. She didn't understand why they wanted to hide their natural beauty under layers of bizarre outfits and powders and liquids. Thad thought they were merely helping nature along, but his former teacher did not see things that way.
"Ugh, tha's the one good thing about Cali." He admitted, "Don't gotta have that constan'ly poin'ed out."
The boy rolled his eyes at Si's lecture on vampires, grinning at her. "Awww, an' here I was lookin' forward to cent'ries of bein' emo an' tryin' to catch rats or whatev. Maybe kill some vagrants, 'cause they ain't doin' nothin' useful anyway." Si was always so vocal about her opinions, and it never failed to amuse him to prod her about them. "So no romantic vampies. Tha's jus' disappointin'. There goes my dream of gettin' a part in Lair, can't misrepresent your blood-suckers."
He shrugged, "Imma go get glitterfied, promise I won't try no make shift fangs." He lifted one hand to his heart, giving his oldest sister a solemn look before streaking out of the room. Maybe he would wear his top hat, too, Sandra couldn't argue that a top hat didn't fall under nice....

Fal had decided to expand what she could do. Fairytale dresses, skirts and shirts was not fun anymore. She mastered them. But this. Making dresses Si would like was a challenge. Getting the fabric just right so she could stitch it together with out showing the such was hard work. Next she would try a dress with rips in it but a shirt underneath. She saw something like it in Hot Topic and wanted to try it out. "Here you go. It's yours. I am trying new things. A good designer can make a variety of clothing."
Fal was aware that being a designer was a far off dream. Not everyone became famous like Vera Wang, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfigher. It took time. Sandra always told Fal to pick a more realistic career, but Fal loved making clothed. Then again Sandra told all the kids to pick a realistic career.
"Aww Si...I was looking forward to being a vampire." She smiled. "I have the perfect blue sun dress I am going to wear." That was Fal always looking the most normal. "But I might wear green leggings and a yellow vest. Its normal, but clashes. Sounds like a good choice to me." That was Fal's was of protesting. "Bye Thad. Can't wait to see the glitter." Fal looked back at Si, "You better get started on that dress. I am curious how it will turn out."

The portrait was a nightmare. Sandra was furious that Sidra had “destroyed” the pink dress, but since the book had already been returned to Fallon the fight was useless. She wouldn’t have won regardless. Why she kept trying, the eldest would never be able to figure out.
Still she had a new dress out of it, and Fallon had done a magnificent job of it. She wouldn’t even have to take it in for it to fit Si, as it had been made exactly right. This delighted the befanged girl to no end and swore that she would wear it the next day.
That Thad had worn glitter was an irritation for Sandra, who once they got home (for she couldn’t demand he take it off right there as they were already running behind schedule and the picture WOULD be taken regardless of the children’s disobedience) she would raid his room for any cosmetics and have them thrown away.
There was a smug pleasure on Si’s face, watching Sandra turn a lovely shade of maroon with anger. The kids had won again. The scoring so far?
