"Evan-kun!" Takumi greeted with a bright smile. "I am indeed looking forward to the jam." He'd finally managed to grasp the meaning of that word although it'sd taken some explaining on Evan's part. Takumi's smile quickly started to fade when Evan glanced at Jessica and made a hasty retreat. He frowned slightly. Had something happened between the two of them? He didn't know Jessica all that well but he and Evan were well acquainted. Evan seemed nothing but friendly and yet...
He stared after his friend's retreating back, not sure whether to go after him or not and by the time he'd thought that through Evan had vanished out of the cafeteria. He'd make a point of catching up with him over the lunch break and before lessons started he'd throw a quick text to him to make sure they knew to meet up.
With a deeply indrawn breath he turned back to the trio at the table, his characteristic amiable expression returning. "I don't think we have met before," he said to the two boys. Was an atmosphere surrounding the group or was that simply his imagination? He couldn't be sure as he could easily be misreading things. It wouldn't be the first time and he knew it sure as hell wouldn't be the last one either!

It was not a ‘glorious morning’ as the Japanese boy seemed to think it was. It was abysmal. And then…. He showed up. One of the house burners. A growl, an honest to God growl came from her throat as her eyes shifted from douche one and douche two onto ultimate douche. UD apparently realized his mistake because soon after approaching he turned around. It took a great deal of effort, and remembering that she wasn’t about to give up her seat at the table for anything. It was HERS and she was going to keep it.
Childish?
Yes. But for a reason. Everything Jess had ever considered hers had been taken away. Right down to her freedom.
Taking note of how Takumi greeted and spoke with Evan, Jessica’s eyes narrowed far enough that they were merely slits in her face. It was possible for her to see, but it was blurry looking through her eyelashes. They.Were.Friends. House burner and Takumi were friends. Was no one safe? Apparently not, and that scared Jessica which she transfigured into more anger.
Life just needed to go back to the way it was. When she was on her own, her parents were where ever they were and uncaring. Instead of having moved to California, realized all the prime real estate and opportunities (including more fooling around with people not their spouses) and had stayed claiming it was for their daughters benefit.
Bullshit. Nothing was for her benefit. Ever. Unless SHE did it for HERSELF.

Jade turned away from the girl in one hell of a who gives a damn who or what you think you are move, he didn't need to turn away from her to talk to Jeremy he knew that but he did it anyway, mainly because he wanted to irritate the girl a little at the snub. Childish definitely, but Jade knew how to act when he wanted to be the spoiled brat.
"The bimbo here was just asking me whether I knew any one in the IRA, apparently if your Irish you have to be a part of the IRA. Just shows that not all American's are intelligent." Jade snarled, he was aware that it was Jeremy, but he was livid that someone had come out and said something like that to him. Any number of incredibly nasty come backs came into his mind, but he would not lower himself to that level. It would make the girls day, if he actually allowed himself to get into a slanging match with her. He did the only thing he could think that might calm himself enough to allow him to finish his food and took Jeremy's hand.
He was expecting the girl to comment on it, in a room full of people he didn't really care. The only people he cared about's opinion was his family and Jeremy's the rest could all go to hell. There were advantages to being rich, and this was one of them, you didn't need to worry about what every one else thought. Generally speaking you had more influence than they did.
"How have you been?" Jade asked Jeremy, he spotted the chain and smiled. He had been scared of giving it to him, but now he felt relieved to get everything of his chest.
When the Japanese guy who he had never even seen before today introduced himself, Jade's self control was evident, as he reigned himself him. He may have been angry with Jessica but he wouldn't take it out on Jeremy or the new guy.
"Nice to meet you Takumi." Jade said with forced politeness, it was evident that he was still having trouble, but the calming effect of Jeremy's hand and presence doing much to reign in the temper of the Irishman.

Jeremy crossed his arms over his chest and glared at the girl. "Ok so your one of the non norms, because any normal person would walk away from an argument." Granted this was L.A. and if a person was normal then that was considered not normal.
He would have continued but a seemingly friendly Asian boy joined them at the table. If only he had been there a few moments earlier, he would have seen that the morning was a dark and stormy one.
There was a brief conversation as another guy showed up and quickly turned like a scolded puppy. There had to be a story behind that. Jeremy would investigate it later, right now the happiness of his boyfriend was at hand.
"Well, Jade, sometimes people just like to make assumptions about things because its a cheap shot and a cowardly way out of things." Jeremy put his hand on top of Jade's, showing support. "Now that I know you are fine, I'm doing fine." He smiled. "Looking forward to the weekend coming up."
He passed the pleasantries to the Asian boy. "I don't think we have met, I'm Jeremy and this is Jade." He indicated who was who. "And if I don't butcher your name, you are Takumi, if I heard correctly."

Takumi shot Jessica a quick glance as she scowled at Evan's departing back. The same look came his way and he offered her a slightly uncertain smile. He returned his attention to the two bos as one of them spoke. He inclined his head slightly and nodded at the second boy. "Hai!" he replied. "You said my name perfectly. I am honoured to meet you Jeremy... and Jade. He extended a hand first to Jeremy and then to his companion, still oblivious to the situation he'd unwittingly walked into before dropping down next to Jessica.
"You all know each other?" he queried. "I am new to town and am still trying to make friends although I have been fortunate so far. Everyone I have encountered has been most welcoming. It's very different here in America to Osaka. That's in Japan," he clarified. "Where I am from." A lot of people thought him to be either Chinese or Korean and et the three races were easily distinguishable to Takumi. That said, he'd never be able to tell an English person from an American by looks alone. Even their accents sometimes sounded alike to him.
"Jessica-chan... are you well? he asked. "I had hoped to see you before this and ask about our arrest. Did the police keep you for long after I was released?" He threw Jeremy and Jade a wry smile. "We were arrested after the shootings. Apparently I was deemed to be part of the other gang," he added with a short laugh. "Were you both safe that day?" Oblivious to the tension was an understantement... and perhaps one of the century.

Jade smiled at the Japanese guy, "Nope I was shot in the shoulder, thus why my shoulder is in a sling." Jade said with a playful smile, his temper right under control. "Jeremy got lucky like a lot of the people in the school had been. "Apparently the luck of the Irish doesn't run as deep in me as I thought." Jade told the boy now sure whether he would get the reference. He was pretty surethat the boy didn't speak English as a first language.
"Oh yeah I'm looking forward to having you all to myself this weekend, no pesky play to ruin our plans." Jade said mischivously. "You me a tent and some woods, how difficult can it be... what could possibly go wrong." he said to him. "I may even let you drive my car... but then we probably wouldn't have a lot of space for everything we need." Jade said to him. "I will bring up the pump up bed, I'm not keen on my shoulder laying on the hard land." he added.
"Going native is all good, but not at the expense of being a grouch dont you think." he asked Jeremy.
He was looking forward to the weekend, and having Jeremy to himself, but he didn't think it was smart to subject his shoulder to that or himself to that right now.
