So Eddie was in theatre as well. What a coincidence! It wasn't just interest she heard in his voice before, he actually was part of the whole scene! She just hoped he wasn't the kind of theatre person to throw tantrums in the middle of a scene or something. She knew far too many men who made her blood boil because they were too conceited and arrogant and couldn't go through the production because they were such divas. She supposed a lot of theatre people were like that. Jude was just glad she hadn't fallen into that group just yet. Her mother and father made sure she never did.
Laughter trickled from her mouth as Eddie told her that she had an upperhand based on doll plays. He was modest, Jude could tell. Though she had never been a good judge of character, she thought Eddie was a good guy. So long as he doesn't start singing and dancing right now, she was good. He had major potential to be a really good friend. She needed that right now.
His enthusiasm and smile when he accepted her offer to come see her show made Jude beam. When he revealed that he was in South Pacific, she pouted. "It's no fair that Silver has the good play. I mean I love Grease and all but there's so much a girl can play in something like Grease you know? But...which part will you be playing? I could see you playing someone like Emile De Becque or Joe Cable. Whoever plays Liat or Nellie would be lucky to play alongside you. So...who are you playing?"
A surprised smile etched on Jude's face when he suggested they run lines together. "Well...I could certainly help you with your lines since you know what you'll be playing but since I'm still hanging, I don't know what good it would be to run lines with me." She laughed lightly. If he was playing Emile or Joe, there would be a lot of scenes of his that would require...special attention from the female part. Why was she jealous of that?
She shook her head from that train of thought. They just met. She didn't even know if he liked her that way. It's best to stay neutral through all this.

“I don't know,” Eddie said. Part of him was a little envious that Gould was doing Grease. “I think both play will be fun.” Eddie would have loved to get the chance to be a real tough greaser kinda guy. It would have just been fun! Not that South Pacific was bad, but he did feel ever so slightly disappointed he wasn't going to be one of the sailors. But the lead was the lead, and he couldn't be unhappy with that!
Eddie felt himself get a little nervous as he told Jude the character he was playing. “Emile. I'm Emile,” he said, the words barely audible. He cheeks turned slightly red. He really didn't like to brag. “So, I guess I could really use the help with lines.” He felt quite embarrassed for some odd reason. Why did he care so much if this girl thought he was some bragadocious jerk? Nonetheless, his brain raced looking for some way to change the subject.
“Yeah, I met the girl playing Nellie just yesterday. I dunno, she seemed...” Eddie tried to think of the right word. He didn't want to be mean, and he didn't dislike the girl, but he didn't really feel any chemistry with her, either. Sure, she was pretty. Very pretty. But there was just something, and he couldn't explain it. “She was nice.” Again Eddie's mind wandered towards thoughts of him playing opposite Jude instead, and he had to look away for a moment. He really shouldn't be thinking about this girl in that sort of way. He barely knew her, and had no idea if she even liked him.
Eddie felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He pulled it out, took one glance at the caller, and put it right back. A frown passed across his face as he read the name, but he did his best to dismiss the thought and return to the nicer and much closer girl sitting in front of him. But the call did remind him he was supposed to be on his way out the door.
“You know, I should get going. But, uhhh,” Eddie stammered for a minute. Again nerves brought a bit of color to his face. He had already offered her his number once, why should it be so hard to ask for hers? “If, you know, umm, you wanted to give me your number... I dunno, I could call you. Sometime. You know, to hang out or whatever...” Okay, Eddie! Enough babbling! What was it about this darn girl that turned him into an idiot? Eddie stood, feeling like a fool, but paused just a moment to see Jude's reaction.

Jude's smile widened when Eddie revealed that he was the lead in his school play. "Congratulations!" She exclaimed as one hand covered Eddie's and squeezed it tight. And when he claimed to need help with lines, Jude perked up. "I'd love to help you run lines. I've always wanted to play Nellie." She smiled brightly.
She realised her hands were still around Eddie's so she pulled back in embarassment before she saw Eddie reach into his pocket. The frown on Eddie's face made Jude wonder who the caller was. Jude's first thought was that it was Eddie's ex and the irrational part of her reasoned that it was Eddie's girlfriend. She wouldn't be surprised. A guy as cute as Eddie can't be single, right? For a moment, she was saddened by the fact and it heightened when he said he had to go.
She was about to chalk it up to him making a mistake for coming over to her table but the earnestly embarassed look on his face when he asked for her number the second time made her want to giggle and slap herself silly. Why was she second guessing herself? If his nervous babbling was anything to go by, it should be obvious that the guy liked her! But then again, he was an actor...no, she was not going to second guess herself again. The guy was nice, good looking and was so darn cute!
When he stood up, so did she. Her hand automatically grabbed his and she dug his phone out before typing in her number and saving it under her name. She called her number and when the call came through on her phone, she immediately saved it under Eddie's name and took a candid photo of him before giving him back his phone. It was the bravest thing she had done since she came to LA, or the stupidest. But she was proud of herself and didn't even realise that her hand was still clasped around his. "Nice meeting you Eddie."

Eddie was momentarily shocked when the blonde stood and snatched his phone away like some sort of crazy super cute ninja. The shock quickly faded, and a smile formed back onto his face. He stood awkwardly watching Jude work her finger magic on his phone, then took a moment to glance around him. As he ran his free hand through his short hair and noticed that no one around them cared at all what was going on at that table (they were all watching the singer on stage for some crazy reason!) he was entirely unaware of the photo opportunity Jude had scored.
He turned back to find his phone being offered to him, and he realized she still had a grasp on his hand. He looked down at the pair of hands, then back up into her eyes. He took the phone with his free hand and blushed sheepishly. “Umm, yeah. Nice to, uhh, meet you too Jude.” He probably looked like an idiot, the grin on his face was so big, but he was too lost in other thoughts to be concerned with smile size or cheek diameter. After a few extra awkward moments of hand holding, Eddie broke the grasp. Still looking at Jude, he stepped around her and started walking backwards towards the exit. Predictably, he bumped into a chair, startling himself and nearly falling over in the process. Recovering as quickly as possible, he braved one more glimpse at Jude, and offered a very embarrassed, “Goodnight!”
With that, Eddie turned away and walked outside, his cell phone still firmly grasped in his hand. He practically pranced to the street and waved at an oncoming taxi. His heart was racing as he took a seat inside the yellow vehicle, caught his breath, told the driver his address, then proceeded to explode into a dorky dance of accomplishment.
It was the best night Eddie had experienced in a long while.
