The weather guaranteed good surfing, but it was chilly out so Lia donned her insulated gear before heading to the beach. She had tried to drag Jandro, but he was busy doing some stupid you tube thing. She thought they were pretty stupid, but her twin enjoyed doing them so she said nothing about it. He didn't like surfing like she did. Today she had her long thick almost white hair pulled back into a thick braid that hung down her slender back.
Arriving at the beach she was glad that it was cold for the surf was great and there weren't many there to make it crowded. She immediately headed out into the waves, paddling out and then mounting when the current began to take her. She balanced on the balls of her feet with her arms outstretched.
Maneuvering by shifting her weight, Lia gave a shout of joy as she was swept up onto the swell and she was flying. Salt spray was carried up to splash against her face. The cries of the gulls rang out around her. Each time was new and amazing.
The water carried her onto the beach and she jumped up and down before running to where she had thrown her mat. she spread it and and threw herself down to catch her breath.

Brad was quite happy with his day so far, and found that he needed some time to relax, so he came down to his favourite spot, this was where he came surfing, or when he missed home he'd come down here to do some thinking. It was easier to imagine life without Australia when you didn't have the constant reminder of home in the sand beachs and intense heat that you got by living in LA.
He watched a girl surfing, and though completely and utterly gay he couldn't help but stand and admire the way she went about her business, there not any kind of checking out of said woman's backside as she did this. Though his friends would have called him an idiot for not doing what they would do no matter what. He watched her park up on the sand before making a slow approach, knowing that he would be seen long before he actually got there with his shadow on the sand.
"You looked pretty comfortable out there." Brad said as he approached the girl with a smile he had a pair of sunglasses on and a hat to protect his eyes from the glare of the sun.

Lia smiled up at him and waved him closer. "There's plenty of room, want a bottled water?" she asked, glad for the company. She recognized him from school, he was a year older so she doubted he knew her at all. "I love to surf, it's very freeing." She dug in her bag and pulled out two bottles of water in case her new acquaintance wanted one. "I'm Lia Juarez, I'm a sophomore.
"Do you surf?" Lia asked after taking a chug of her water. She loved to surf, but the sea salt made her mouth so dry. Lia had lived with her two gay brothers all her life and had some sort of inner radar that told her to treat this handsome young man the same way she would one of them. She was not that flirty anyway.
He looked like a swimmer actually, lean and toned rather than ripped like a body builder. "I am here at least once a week, I love these stormy days, there's a feeling of electricity that is exhilarating. You're from Australia, yes? That accent is hard to miss." She liked it, it wasn't stuck up like some of the British accents, but had a playful exuberance that really fit the people from down under.

Brad smiled, "Thank you I could use a drink." he said to her.
"I'm from Australia, thats like asking whether the sky is blue today, of course I surf, I'm not the worldss best at it but I like surfing, its my country's national sport or something like that." Brad said as he ran his hand through his hair before taking a gulp of the water then using some of it to splash his face sighing with relieve as the cool water touched his face. "My body clock expects it to be cooling down about now in the year, Australia has its summer months during christmas." Brad said. "This is intense heat for February no matter what country you live in." he said to her with a smile.
"I was born and raised in Melbourne, I've been here quite a while though, I just can't get used to the heat here during the summer months. Strange really I know but well there it is, I came down here to get away from a business dinner my parents are holding at the house this evening, if I had stayed I am pretty sure that I would have been dragged into joining them. So I snuck out the service entrance with the help of one of the hired staff for the evening. Its amazing what a very good tip can do for you." he added.

Lia listened to Brad talk about Australia, interested to hear it from someone who knew what they were talking about. "I would love to go there someday, I think it must be a really mystical place and I would love to meet an aboriginal shaman to learn from him or her," she enthused.
"We are lucky, our mother doesn't bring business home with her, it is usually at a restaurant or something when it happens. Mostly her work is out of town anyway. Tonight was just my turn out and I couldn't resist the storm. My brothers say I will get electrocuted someday, but what is the worth in living if you never risk it," she said with a grin.
Lia noticed that the light was beginning to disappear. That was the main problem with this time of year, the daylight was so short. "Listen I need to go pick up dinner on my way home. My mother doesn't like me out on my bike after dark, would you like to come home with me to dinner since you skipped the one at home. My mom won't be home and I know my brother's won't care," she invited.

Brad weighed it up, it was tempting to follow the girl back, for friendship value anyway, romantically speaking he was as gay as they came, he was very happy about this face.
"Sure thing, you said bike, if its a push bike it will probably be a lot faster to stick it in the back of my car, I drive an X5 which isnt to far from where we are now. Should be more than big enough to get a push bike in it if I lower the back seats. Otherwise I'll probably get pulled over while driving behind you for some idiotic traffic violation." Brad said. "It also as the benefit of making sure that I don't get lost trying to find my car again." Brad pointed out. "If I leave it at the beach." Brad added.
He didn't add that he didn't fancy the walk back from where ever it was the girl would take him, "It also has the added bonus of being able to carry more than you would normally be able to on your bike, how often would you get the opportunity to have that on offer from a complete stranger." Brad asked her with a smile before downing more of his drink.

"Well its not a motorbike," Lia said, not sure what a push bike was. She knew Australian's had a lot of odd terms for things so it was very possible she had a push bike and just didn't realize it. "I don't mind doing it that way. The restaurant isn't very far away near the pier and we are pretty close as well. She stood and removed her wet suit and pulled a pair of shorts and a tee shirt on as well as slipping her flip-flops on. The wet suit went into her bag and she finished up her water. Rolling up the mat, she too it and the surf board to her monthly rental locker and secured the combination lock.
"Well... I be ready when you are," she said with a grin, moving to pull her bike up. "I am eager to discover what an X-5 is." She wasn't ashamed to show her ignorance, just genuinely interested. Their vehicle was much less of an icon and if they needed to drive everyone, her mother got one of their friends who owned a limo to drive them. They were going to have to get a bigger car now since Saint lost his sight and Jonah had joined them. There just wasn't room for everyone in the car Saint and their mom had shared.

Brad laughed, "The X5 is just a BMW version of the land rover, its meant for comfort a lot more than the land rover, its pretty tall." Brad said to her. "My pride and joy, my parents offered me any car I wanted, and I choose my favourite type." Brad said to her. "Makes me sound like a spoiled brat I know but I have to say in my defence that they didn't give me a price range, so I might have gone a tad over board in my expectations as far as cars go." Brad said as they walked to collect her bike.
"Your bike should fit in the back no trouble at all, and still have room to manuver the seats at the front if you need to." Brad said in fair ness his date from the other night was a much taller person than the girl was and so had to be seated further back in the car.
He was quite pleased to be heading away from the beach anyway, it didn't matter to him if the only person he had pulled onthis journey was a girl, after all life was not all about sex or so he liked to think, well almost anyway.

"Sounds like a great car," Lia said with a warm smile. "We just have a Prius we all share. Jandro my twin is learning to drive. Now that Saint can't drive, Jandro is learning under the hardship laws. Mom chose him because he has better grades than I do."
When they reached his x-5, she helped him to load the bike into the back. "I think the seats will be fine. Extra leg room is never a problem. My whole family except for my mother is rather on the short side. I guess my dad did manage to give us something after all. She climbed in and ran her hands over the fine seats. "This is lovely. I can see why you wanted it."
"Do you know where C&O's Trattoria is by the pier? My mom's friend Dave manages it and he always gives us extra stuff. Sometimes it is good to a mom that models," she said ruefully. "Anyway, it should be ready by now." She buckled in and closed the door behind her.
