"Nor do I plan to reveal said reasons to you. I don't not want to, nor do I care if you want to know. I have my secrets for a reason. Believe me, when I say it is better they stay that way. What is going on at the moment with my family is my problem, but I assure you it will not affect Kai. I will make sure of that. I am here for our son. I am here to be a mother and that is all you need to know." Alex told him. Ashley was basically saying what she already knew. "Kai is my only focus at this very moment. There is nothing on my mind except making the past two years up to our son." Alex also had to make it clear that she expected nothing from Ashley. The only thing she hoped was for Ashley to allow her in Kai's life. Alex expected nothing else.
"I will save you number. Tonight is perfect. I do not have work, so I can meet you at the beach, just tell me where exactly and I will take the bus there." Alex had a one track mind at this moment. Her son...their son. Thats all. She was here to be a mother and nothing more. That is all she ever wanted before she was ripped away from him. Ashley was right when he spoke about her parents being angry and he was right when he said they had no right to take her from Kai, but Alex had made that choice. Alex really thought she was protecting Kai and Ashley.
Bloody Hell, Alex was sure she still had thing to deal with. Her father was none to happy when she left and her father could be very underhanded and manipulative. Alex knew something was coming, just just wished she knew what her father was planning. "I appreciate you hearing me out and giving me a chance to be a mother. I promise I will protect Kai from my family, but I must warn you now...my father is none to happy about me being here. However, I am not leaving this time no matter what my father does." Alex thought it would be good to warn Ashley. Last thing she needed was for Ashely to be shocked if her father did something.

Ashley smiled at her, "Your father won't touch me or Kai or for that matter my family, legally you currently have no say in his life, and your father has part of the responsibility for that. But he comes after me thats a law suit he can't win and he knows it, the publicity in all the right circles that he goes around will hurt him a hell of a lot more than me.... he can probably try to buy me of, your mother tried that not to long ago actually." Ashley said to her. "You've been in LA for a while right?" he asked her it was more of a statement than a question.
"Thursday afternoon I got the first check of the child mantainance your meant to be paying, along with it was a check of three million pounds, with the promise of more. The stipulation being that your father never find out, now I know why they wanted to try that I guess, apparently your being here is making them desperate." Ashley said. "Your father is a complete wanker I believe the English say." Ashley said to her.
"Your get your chance, but I don't trust you and I don't trust your family, you won't get the chance to hurt him or me not again." Ashley stated quite clearly.

"Do not worry about my father trying to hurt you or Kai. I can handle him. I know perfectly well what he is capable of. Besides I have spies of my own in London. If he is planning a coup I will know about it." Alex assured him, "This is between my father and I. Kai, you and your family will be safe. " Alex could actually promise that. She was her father's daughter and as such had learned a few tricks of his trade of being under handed and sneaky. Her father was hers to deal with and hers alone.
Alex thought she heard it all. But the next words that came out of Ashely's mouth left her speechless. Absolutely speechless. A look of shock, followed by all the color draining from her face was present. Ashely continued talking about the checks and about not trusting her. Alex heard it, but her mind was too focused. Her mother did what? That was a move she expected from her father, but not her mother. Alex ran Ia hand over her face and then through her hair before taking a deep breath and once again placing a pleasant smile on her face. A smile to hide her thoughts, although the look she had a moment ago must have been noticeable.
"My father is more then a wanker, a bastard or the devil are probably more fitting" Alex told him, "Two weeks. I want to get settled in, find a job and enroll in school before I made my presence known. I wanted to prove to you I an deadly serious about this." For now she would make no comment about the money. Although she was thinking plenty. Her mother would get an ear full.
Alex had to stand and pace. Something she often did when she was pissed, but this anger was not directed at Ashley, it was directed at her mother, which why despite being pissed she kept her voice calm and pleasant, "I assure you I am not here to harm you or Kai. I know I do not have any rights, but I am here to be a mother to Kai. I do not expect anything else, nor am I focused on anything else. Kai is my main concern and my main focus. I will not interfere in your life or any relationships you might have, just as long as I get to be a mother to our son, nothing else matters." How very untrue given Alex still harbored feelings for the blond boy in front of her, but Alex was very good at pushing them aside, besides from what Ashley had been saying he was defiantly over Alex. Which she already figured, even if it did hurt to know. Either way Alex would focus on Kai and Kai alone.

Ashley nodded as he stood up, "Prove yourself to me and we'll talk to some lawyers, actually prove your intentions to my parents and we'll talk to them about getting you back on the list of people who can be called if anything happens to me." Ashley said to her. "You can't give him two years back, not the first two years back anyway, but the balls in your court." Ashley said he placed his hand on her cheek.
"I wish I could say that their isn't a part of me that is glad your here, but don't mistake my willingness to allow you into our lives as being something more than just allowing you to have a relationship with Kai." Ashley said softly. "We can't go back to that, the day you left that door slammed shut... you did what you had to do , I get that, I just can't forgive it." Ashley said he made his way to the end of the row before stopping and turning.
"The worst thing is I loved you, I would have jumped through hoops to keep our family together, your father well he made sure that didn't happen, I don't blame you. I should hate your whole damn family including you." Ashley said turning away and exiting the aisle. "I will see you tonight, I'll text you a place." he added before leaving the girl standing.

"I will prove my self. There is no doubt in my mind that in time your parents and you shall see I can keep my word. I know it will not be easy. I am not that naive girl who moved to New York who lived in a fantasy world. I am aware of the reality. I will prove it to you and to them and to Kai. That's all I care about at this moment. Nothing else matters to me more then getting back in Kai's life." Alex assured him. She closed her eyes briefly when he touched her cheek. God, that simple touch made her hate her father even more. This was all his fault.
She nodded when he spoke, "Believe me if I could turn back time I would." She said as he spoke. "I am well aware that the odds of anything happening between us are as rare as making one of the royal guards laughing at someone who for what ever reason chooses to try to do. I do however, hope that one day we can be friends at least." She could hope right. Friends was better then nothing.
She watched as he finally walked away after talking about jumping through hoops. An expression that perplexed her, but none the less she watched him leave and then in a soft voice so no one could hear what she said, "Trust me what my father had in store not even the strongest man could have survived." Her father's threats caused Alex to lose the love of her life and he would pay. Ashley would forever be the what if guy. What if she had stayed? What if her father followed through with his threats? "I love you still." She said again in a soft voice. Alex was aware nothing would happen, but that did not change how she felt.
