Mal had to laugh. When Selby asked about Malibu Barbie she had to laugh. It was the funniest thing she had ever been asked. Mal took a moment to compose herself, "Oh I had you pegged all wrong." She admitted. Thats what she gets for judging based on looks. Mal hated when people judged her, yet she was just as guilty of it. Mal sighed and took a few deep breaths.
"Do not worry about it. Mailbu Barbie is just another name for a girl who is seemingly perfect. Perfect hair, teeth, clothes, life. Almost as if you are a doll for sale in a way." Mal explained. This girl was precious. "How long have you lived in America?"
The accent gave away that Selby was not from here. Which intrigued Mal. She did enjoy meeting new people. It was fun. Mal was a very friendly person despite her outward appearance. She was always willing to give people a chance. It just sucked when people like her parents were not willing to do the same.
"I hope to learn much, but we shall see. I guess time will tell." It was interesting how time could be someones enemy and friend at the same time. Mal often thought of weird things like that.

“I have been here for almost my life. But we still speak Russian at home so accent is hard to lose,” Selby admitted, but with a smile. “Is sweet you thought I am perfect,” the Ruski laughed.
“Time does tell. Always.” Which brought Selby to another proverb, she wasn’t sure where it was from but it was good just the same.
“This is also good to remember,” she said with a grin, excited with her own knowledge, “for whenever you feel things are bad. This too, as all things, will pass in time.”
Time again. An enemy and also a friend. A tool used by mankind to both feel in control, but it seemed to have backfired somehow. People did grow older, that was a fact, but with the counting of days, weeks, months, and years it seemed to make things more real. People were always “running out” of time. But if one stopped, and simply enjoyed life for what it was rather than trying to make it something, trying to make themselves ‘immortal’ by being remembered, then perhaps more would actually get done to further nature. Further people in nature. Rather than destroying everything and everyone people came in contact with in some small way.
A smile went a lot further than a cruel word.
The school buzzer sounded indicating lunch was over and it was time to get back into classes.
“Come. I walk you back,” Selby held out a hand with an earnest smile.

Mal shook her head. This girl was like a book of proverbs. It was entertaining to say the least. Mal pushed off her car, "Time is no friend of mine right now, but we shall see I guess." Mal shrugged and took a step forward. This girl was crazy but in a good way.
Mal was often friends with interesting people. For example Cat. Most people would not see them being friends, but she was friend. Mal was usually a friendly person if you gave her a chance. Now people like Patch well...she could not like a guy with such horrible taste in music.
Although she could appreciate the right to like whatever music you want but it was fun to make fun of him for it. Mal nodded, "Yeah lets go before we get caught. They might think we are skipping." She had gotten those looks before when she was in the parking lot. it was nothing new. She rather liked people watching her walk back into school. It was like a rub in their face for doubting her. Like she would want to be anywhere else. As sad as it was....school was a safe place away from home. If she was not here she would be at JJ's.
