"Really?" Addy asked. Now this was especially confusing. She'd spend her whole life learning one thing and in the past month she'd learned that that was wrong, now Thad was telling her this new stuff was wrong. What was right? She was so confused. She didn't know who to believe anymore. Although, perhaps she should verify with an adult before believing a 14 year-old boy. It wasn't really his age that bothered Addy, but she figured adults were more trustworthy, or at least she hoped they were.
"No, I'm from Rhode Island," she said, "what about you? I like California though...and school....I didn't really....I didn't get to spend too much time with other people before...cause before I was home schooled. I like having people around," she explained. She didn't want to tell him the whole truth. She learned quickly that people thought she was strange when she told them and Thad was a nice kid. She'd hate more people thinking she was a big weirdo.
"Yes, she's a senior. I guess she would agree with you. I think she's excited to go off to college next year," Addy shrugged, at this rate Addy would never go to college. Not unless she found a way to catch up...and it was all so hard.
Looking at her watch, Addison saw that the lunch period was almost over. "I should go," she said. "But it was nice meeting you," she told him and she really thought so. Maybe it was because she still didn't talk to many people, but she hadn't really found him annoying. Plus, Addy was only quiet because she thought she had to be...she wanted to be social, she wanted to talk to people, so although she might have appeared to be rather shy, really it wasn't hard to get her into a conversation.
