Mike had spent most of the day getting trashed. Especially after the mall. He and his friends found a way home. Okay Kyle called his mom and she picked them all up. For some reason his parents had a stupid don't ask, don't tell thing. Plus his mom stayed out of their business. Of course eventually Mike made his way home. His car was there as promised. Mike just laughed it off. He walked inside, right in the middle of a fight. Typical. Of course Mike paid the price. Nothing new. After it was over he passed out in his bed.
Then woke up the next morning to another fight being had. So instead of sticking around for round 2 Mike grabbed his keys and snuck out his window. He decided to drive to the beach. A nice place to pass out. A place that was safer then being home at the moment. Mike did not plan to swim or anything. He did not give a shit if it was cold. he had on his hoodie, so he just grabbed a towel he always kept in the car and took it to the beach and laid down. This way he could sleep with no interruptions.
Or so he hoped. What was it with people and bothering him. He was hung over and did not need anymore crap. "Can I help you?" He asked the person who had chosen to bother him this fine, ugly morning.

Patch had skipped the party at Burbanks due to the insufferable meddling of his parents, who were concerned by the escalating gang violence. He wasn't sure if they thought he would be mistaken for Hispanic or Asian, or if they were just feeling overprotective, but either way it was terribly annoying. He was convinced at this point in life that he was invincible (unless confronted by one Jessica Pruitte, but he hadn't seen her since Silver had returned to their own school, so he assumed he was safe from her admittedly justified wrath for the moment). In any event, he thought it was terribly unfair that he wasn't allowed to spend a Saturday night at a party where there would be dancing, even if his movements would have been much more restricted had his parents known even half of what he and Evan had got up to in the past two months. They didn't know, and they didn't have to know. It hadn't yet come to his attention that everyone at Burbanks was locked in, however; had he known he'd narrowly missed spending the night in an abandoned mental hospital, he might have actually been grateful for the parental interference.
Fortunately (in his mind), his parents had decided to sleep in instead of going to Church; they were never particularly consistent in attendance, except on major holidays, though they occasionally insisted on dragging the boys to Sunday School in the hopes that this might count as a strong moral upbringing. This morning, however, bed had seemed much more immediately pressing than Church, so while his parents stayed happily in bed Patch took K.B. out to the beach/
It was cool and cloudy, much to the malamute's delight. The dog galloped ahead of his owner, energetic and excited. He could tell that this was more than just a normal morning's run, as the boy was carrying a frisbee, and he wanted very much to play immediately. He was frustrated at his owner's refusal to play on the sidewalk.
Once they arrived at the beach Patch stripped off his shoes, leaving them by the stairs leading up to the boardwalk, and dashed out into the sand, heaving the frisbee towards the ocean. K.B. frolicked after, tongue lolling...and promptly brought his prize over to someone who appeared to be sleeping, dropping the frisbee nearly on top of the person's face and panting expectantly. The brunette rolled his eyes, trotting after his dog; great, first girls, now beach bums. Couldn't K.B. leave strangers alone? But when he got closer, he realized that this was no beach bum -- it was Mike Spruill! They had met when younger, thanks to a habit of frequenting the parks and beaches of sunny California, and hit it off -- if climbing and jumping off trees on dares counted as hitting it off. Of course, as the other boy was both two grades younger and attending Silver, they didn't see much of one another, which was a shame, because Mike was a pretty awesome person to hang out with.
"Mike!" Patch prodded the other boy's towel with one sandy toe. "Can't believe you're sleeping on a day like this!" He waved one hand vaguely at the grey, cloud-covered sky, then bent down to retrieve his frisbee. "Sorry, K.B. musta recognized you before I did. 'Sup, man?"

Mike was having a peaceful nap. Well not a nap persay..,....more like just quiet. Something he did not get very often. Even his friends seemed to be getting on his nerves more and more. Mike had a feeling this had to do with his jealousy over the whole Jade situation. Jade did not want Jeremy more then Mike...he just did not want to go against his family...thats why Jeremy one..because Jade was too scared of being cut off and losing his family....although Mike could not blame the guy. Jade had an awesome family...why would anyone give that up...it just sucked for Mike in the end because he only had himself to blame for this mess. So what did Mike do, what Mike does beat and hide his pain away. If only he had the guts to talk.
All the sudden Mike felt slobber hit his face. He opened his eyes to find a dog trying to suffocate him by licking his face. Mike shook his head and sat up and the dog continued to to attack his face some more. Mike gently pushed the dog back, "Come on man, i need a little breathing room." He told the bog. Mike looked at the dog a moment, "K.B...no way man...." His pissed off expression quickly turned into one of surprise and a small smile. It was fucking K.B., which meant, "Patch my man. Haw the hell are you?" Mike stood up immeditaly and gave his old friend a pat on the back.
Patch was the reason Mike had gotten quite a few broken limbs. There dares were crazy. Jumping out of trees, off building, off cliffs and into lakes. Oh there was more then that. Including skateboards, bikes, roller blades....man half the stunts they pulled deserved to land Mike in the hospital with a broken limb or too. "Nah dude. K.B was just giving me a proper hello. I was not sleeping, more like clearing my hear and trying to get rid of a hangover from last night."

"Hangover, huh?" Patch laughed. "So same old, same old then." While he and Mike shared a love for physically dangerous dares, their respective posses rarely mingled. Part of that was surely the fact that attending seperate schools left little room for interaction, but even had this been otherwise, Patch and his crew were more pranksters than partiers, preferring explosions to booze. Not that Patch himself didn't drink, because he did, and he loved parties, but after a disastrous attempt at smoking weed he had determined that drugs were not for him. He certainly didn't need any chemical aids to endanger life and limb, anyway! He had broken more than one bone simply because he and Mike had decided that something stupid sounded like fun.
He tossed the frisbee towards the lapping surf, watching K.B. bound across the sand after it. "So you at the rave the other night then?" He didn't expect anything less, though of course he was sure Mike was capable of acquiring hangovers without the help of parties. "The parents wouldn't let me go. It's almost like they don't trust me." He sighed dramatically, then added with a mischevious grin, "Though, they might have the right idea. May have hijacked the DJ of the last party I went to. And exploded a cake. Should be all over the 'net soon, I'll send you the link as soon as Mal puts it up." He promised, certain that Mike would appreciate the beauty in crashing a posh party and wreaking havoc.
"So clearin' your head, school gettin' to ya?" He joked, rubbing K.B.'s head when the dog came back over with his toy. He knew that Mike was bi, and that he had two fathers, but he was quite ignorant of the details and he wasn't good enough at reading people to always notice when his friends were faking happiness -- and as he was generally emotionally honest, if not entirely honest in other respects, faked emotions wasn't something he expected of others.

"Actually man i did not make it to the rave. i was passed out and never went. My friends went. I got a text saying they were locked in....kind of glad I did not go." Mike had to be honest there. being locked in a mental hospital sounded creepy and weird. He was glad he did not go and he felt semi bad for the other people, but they made the choice, so they had to deal with it. His friends were already bugging him for a way out and he just ignored them.
"But you know me...never a dull moment. i did have fun though. i guess for once I am glad I passed out, but not sure thatsa good thing." Mike listened when Patch talked about exploding a cake and a DJ booth. Yes that sounded like Patch, "dude tell your friend to put the link up. I would love to see that...whose party was it? I wonder if I know them..." Then again Mike assumed it was someone from Gould...he has no idea it was jasper's party. Then again Mike did not really know who jasper was.
"You could say something like that. Lets just say life loves to throw little twist of fates my way." His ex boyfriend and the first guy he really liked were dating...if that was not a cruel twist of fate then he had no idea what was. "So what brings you to the beach besides K.B...just here to play or you also looking for an escape from life....is it girl problems?" Although for as long as he knew Patch and all the cray things they did he could not remember the guy having a girl..so maybe that was a stupid question to ask.

"Locked in? F'real?" Patch goggled, suddenly grateful for the parental interference that had prevented his attendance; he didn't fancy being locked in an abandoned mental hospital, particularly as that would surely cause closer scrutiny into his doings than he was comfortable with. Close scrutiny would mean a lack of cool things, like fires and explosions. It also could very well mean his and Evan's discovery, and he couldn't allow that.
He shook his head at Mike, "Sorry, dude, I just can't see how passin' out is fun. Ya can't wreak havoc passed out!" He reasoned. Passing out was like sleep, in that it got in the way of doing things that were fun; unlike sleep, however, passing out was entirely unneccessary. Getting a little tipsy was one thing, that only made fun things seem even more awesome than they already were. Passing out, though, prevented you from accomplishing any of those fun things.
"Yeah, as soon as she puts it up I'll let you know. It's classic!" He promised, eager to pester Mallory into sharing the video with him. He couldn't wait to see; he'd been a bit busy causing distractions, and then escaping, to get a good look at the actual explosion.
Patch scoffed when Mike asked if he were having girl problems, "The only girl problem I have is this one chick that wants to murder me. She goes to Silver, though, so don't gotta worry about that." He explained happily, having missed the memo that Silver students would be going back to Gould. "Just decided it was too....ummm...." He glanced once more at the clouds, "nice a day to waste indoors. Parents are still asleep, so figured I'd hit the beach. So yeah, just play."
He shrugged, wrestling the frisbee from an eager K.B. once more. "How're you and whatsisface? Ummm. Jay?" Mike's ex-boyfriend hadn't really left much of an impression on the soccer player, other than as someone that Mike really liked.

"Yeah..locked in. My friends keep bitching about it in texts. I told them it was there fault for going and they would have to wait it out." Mike said with a shurg. "I am glad I did not go...talk about creepy. I hear places like that are haunted and ghosts are so real man...scary real." Mike liked to believe in ghosts for some reason. it just seemed logical that they would exist. if you really thought about death...and Mike thought about it alot given his situation...then you would really wonder where the soul goes....then again it depended on what you believed.
"Yeah you have a point, but it numbs the pain so..." Mike said with another one shoulder shrug. Thats all he planned to say on the issue. He did not need nor did he want to explain in any way. "I admit it does get old passing out and doing it over again, but I guess I am too use to it by now. So what other pranks have you pulled?" Mike always loved hearing about Patch's prank.
"Next time you need to invite me along. i would have loved to see the faces on the party people." He smiled and could picture it now. "A girl at Silver wants to kill you...should I be seen with you right now...i actually go there man..." Mike laughed just joking around really. He doubted he knew the girl anyway. He did not know many people.
"Well I can't blame you there. Thats why I am out. Home was just too much and got boring." It was a small lie, but that was okay. patch did not need to know the truth. "Jade...his name is Jade and we broke up a month ago...long story and i would rather not talk about it...I am done with him...." Another Lie, but Mike had to lie to himself right....he had to believe it as much as it was not true...

Ghosts were something that Patch didn't give much thought to, although he had to agree that Burbank would lend itself to hauntings, if ghosts did exist; he wasn't about to completely deny their existance, because if they did turn out to be real they probably wouldn't appreciate that much. Of course, if ghosts were real, then he would be sure to haunt Jessica should she kill him.
"Could take pain killers, instead, those don't make you pass out," He argued with Mike, assuming the other boy was talking about physical pain rather than emotional. "Unless you take too many, then I think it's supposed to be bad for you or something." He punched Mike lightly in the shoulder, "But c'mon, I know you can take a little pain." After all the stupid stunts they'd pulled, all the bones broken and knees bruised, it would be odd to think that the younger guy couldn't stand pain.
He considered what to say on the prank front, but decided to stay silent about the original fireworks stunt and the reason behind Jessica's hatred. "Not much, to be honest. Wrote up some fake valentine's, dunno how those panned out, of course, except that apparently one girl did believe hers. Got a few up our sleeves, though, me'n'Evan. Were gonna sneak some animals into the cheerleader's locker room, it's gonna be epic." He grinned, enthusiastic about the prospect of completely messing with the cheerleading squad, all of whom he assumed were vapid little flakes like Coco Faulkner.
"Jade. Right. Him." He nodded sympathetically when Mike said they broke up, though he couldn't imagine why anyone would be upset to be rid of a relationship. "Hey, least you got your freedom now." He reassured Mike bracingly, assuming this would be a welcome truth.

Pain killers...if they only did work, but no...sadly they did not do the trick. If he kept going back for pain killers people would get suspicious. So he stuck to drugs and drinking. He knew he had a major problem, but he just could not handle emotional pain. Physical pain yes...but emotional sucked. When Patch his his shoulder it took all of Mike's strength not to cry out in pain. His dad had made that spot special last night with repeated punches. It had a huge bruise. Mike's face flashed a painful expression for a few seconds before he took a few deep breaths to recover.
"Man you hit like a girl. I thought you would have a harder hit." He said joking around as if the whole thing was a joke. Anything to make him not suspect something. "I am just kidding you hit like a cross between a man and a girl." He said laughing as he joked around. "Anyway snakes in the locker room. I like that idea. I can picture the cheerleaders screaming their heads off...what kind of animals..." He was very curious. He would not mind seeing cheerleaders screaming down the hall. "Tell me when you plan it and I will skip class." He nodded.
"Fake Valentines...man that would have been fun to do at Silver too. You should tell me next time...I could do it at Silver and see people go crazy...its not fair to keep it all to yourself man." He said with a smile. Mike shrugged when he talked about he break up. HE really did care for Jade. He still did. Jade had been the best guy in his life. He wondered if he did shape up and stay straight then would it happen....would Jade take him back. Instead of thinking of what he could do he just reverted back, "Yeah Single works...besides men so much more complicated then women..." He said with a wink. "besides non attachments are better. Just find a girl to have fun with...thats all you need."

Patch cracked up at the idea of snakes in the cheerleaders locker room, "Evan did buy snakes recently, but I think he likes them too much to scare them with cheerleaders." He shook his head, dropping down onto the sand with no regards for the cleanliness of his shorts. "We were thinkin' more like, goats and pigs. It'll be classic, you gotta be there. Mal is gonna film again, so we can watch it again and again and again." And since they'd been forced to take down their last video, they really needed something to make up for that.
He'd had personal experience with girls who could hit pretty damn hard, but far from disagreeing with Mike's comment, Patch assumed that Jessica and Araceli were an exception to the rule. Araceli hardly counted as a girl, anyway, and Jessica was more like a demon. And anyway, if he'd been allowed to defend himself he was sure he would have gotten the upperhand; as it was, she was a girl and he couldn't hit her back on principle, even if that meant suffering defeat.
"Well, the fake valentines were kinda spur of the moment," He apologized. If he'd had any idea he and Evan would be slipping incredibly eloquent notes of love to random people, he would have included Mike. Actually, that was a lie, he might not have even considered that Mike would want to participate in that particular type of prank. Still, now he knew, so he felt a little bad for leaving him out, but it really hadn't been planned at all.
"What? Dude, no way, women are crazy, men are totally easy to understand." Patch objected, until he actually thought about what it would take to date another guy. "Unless you want to date one. I dunno. I guess dating makes everyone more difficult." One of many reasons he was going to be single forever; dating was just not worth the trouble. "Who needs sex and shit anyway? Friends are way better." He decided, though he knew most people disagreed with him. He was sure, however, that Mike would be able to find someone else if he wanted; he was on the football team, for one, and he was just plain awesome and fun, for another. Granted, it seemed that both genders wanted to stamp out awesome and fun when they started dating his friends, with the exception of Mallory and Brittany, who were therefore both very cool and very exceptional.
"Wanna go get pizza or somethin'?" He wondered, deciding that he was hungry. Depending on what Mike answered, he would change out of his running clothes, maybe call Evan and Kian and JJ and see if they wanted to just hang around for the day. He might not even object if Brittany and Mallory came, too. "Could call the gang, go to my place and play rock band or something." His parents wouldn't care, and having people over was fun no matter what they ended up doing.
