Elena had a night off from all her jobs. So instead of focusing on ghost she was going to go do something else. She has come to realize she can have ghost hunting as her passion but she needs more then that in her life. She had decided to go minature golfing even if it is by herself. She was getting to know more people but she did not know who to call to come and join her. So she figured she might get lucky and run into someone that she knows. She drove over to the minature golf course and parked and got out. Heading inside she payed for a game of one and picked out a purple ball and her putter. She went out and found out she was not the only one alone. She smile as she saw the families there together. Her and her parents did stuff like this when they were alive.
She waited her turn at the first whole and went. She didn't get a whole in one not even close. It took six times to get it in, of course she was rusty. The good thing about playign by yourself was you did not keep score and she could just have fun and see how many times it takes to get the ball in the hall. She was so into the game and having fun that she was not even aware of someone smiling at her. She finally turned when she felt eyes on her and smiled at them. "Hey" she said. "You here alone to?"

Last night Wes had spent some time down on the boardwalk but tonight he'd opted for something very fifferent. Maybe he'd strike it lucky three nights in a row? First he'd met Sloane... then last night Silver. Sloane had been... well... unexpected whereas Silver had been sweet. He'd had good evenings both times... Just in totally different ways! And now this evening he'd called by the miniature golf place. Sort of sad doign that alone but maybe he wouldn't be the only one without company...
His luck was in and Wes leaned back against a handy windmill (not a full-sized one... That would be dumb in the middle of a minature golf course!), folded his arms... and watched. Man, she was worse at this than he was... and Wes had always thought himself to be beyond the pits!
She glanced up. Pretty. All the girls in town seemed to be pretty! This one had awesome eyes, though.
"Hey... You here alone too?" she asked.
Wes nodded and pushed himself off the windmill, narrowly missing head-butting the lower vane. "Yeah... Sorry state to be in on a Saturday night, eh?" he answered. "Feel like teaming up? I'm Wesley..." Might be an idea to offer her his name!

(OOC Sorry it took so long I have been busy this holiday season)
"Not that sorry I mean your not the only one here alone" Elena said with a smile. "Of course it is my rare saturday night off" with a laugh she added. "I don't mind teaming up at all" she said to him. "I am Elena, it is very nice to meet you Wesley." She smiled up at him and she did think he was the tall dark and handsome type. "So have you had many saturday nights alone sine cming here?" She could clearly hear the candian accent when he spoke, and it was cute. "I should warn you I am so not the best at this game as you can see, but I do know how to have fun" she said with a grin. She stepped back so he could take his turn.
When it was done she smiled. "Well yo beat me on that round it took you two less strokes then me. I might have to pratice for a rematch some other night" she teased him. She was glad she had a saturday night off and she was lucky to meet a guy that wanted to hang with her. She was really enjoying the new her, the her that talked to people, that was not so shy. She at times retreated into that mode but now was not one of those times. "So how do you like California so far? Or I should say L.A. with all the beautiful people? When I came here I was overwhelmed by it all" she admited. "I compared myself to all the girls and found myself lacking, finally accepted I am not a beautiful people and love who I am and how I was made" she said with a shrug.

(OOC: no worries! I reckon most of us were busy... myself included LOL!)
A rematch? That sounded good to him! At least she hadn't hated hanging out with him... and Wes had to admit he was kinda surprised not to find her on the arm of a regular boyfriend. She was easy on the eye... to put it mildly!
"I love it!" he enthused. "Where I'm from even the summers were on the cooler side so this is great!" That said, he knew he'd miss his job... Whistler rocked! "Its a bit different to back home," he added. "That's BC... Vancouver... Well, a small town called Squamish but no one's ever heard of Squamish so its easier to say Vancouver." He added a broad smile for good measure. "But never do the comparison thing," Wesley continued. "From where I'm standing you easily come under the 'beautiful' heading."
They wandered towards the exit to hand in their golf equipment. "So... not from around these parts... I admit I'm crap with accents sooo... where are you from originally? And how long have you been in LA?"

Elena had to admit she did not know where Squamish was. "Smart idea to say Vancouver" she said. "I don't know anyone who does not know where that is" she told him smiling. "I am sure their are huge differences with a small town to a big city. I lived in a city before so it was nothing new to me. Just L.A. has a whole lot more smog" she said with a laugh. She blushed when he said she fell under the beautiful heading and look down hoping the blush was gone when she glanced back up at him.
"I um moved here a few years go with my aunt and uncle, after my um parents died" Elena told him. "It was a big change for me in so many ways. I mean if you met me last year I would of avoided you at all cost and not talked. I made a promise to myself to open myself up and let real people in and get to know them and let them get to know me" she explained to him. "I am from Baltimore so I have a east coast accent, not as deep as the south is but it is still there. And some experssions I use are never used over here" she laughed. "I had cousins in a small town down south and picked up some sayings like golly gee, and I can do the southeren accent spendign time there as I grew up." She smiled as she opened her mouth and she sounded like she was from Georgia. "I am having a wonderful time sir" she said and giggled. She broke out of the accent. "That comes from summers spent there."

“Aw man, I’m sorry about your parents, Elena,” Wes replied. The Domaszewski family was particularly close knit... He couldn’t even imagine what it would be like to lose his mom and dad. “Have to admit I’m glad I met you now and not a year back, then. I way prefer to have you talking to me than doing the avoiding thing.”
He laughed along with Elena when she put on her deep South accent. “So you still have family back there? That’s seriously cool. All mine are here in LA with me. Well, my dad’s grandparents are back in Poland still... That’s where I get my surname from. Domaszewski. Quite a mouthful, isn’t it? Even I struggle to spell it right so how anyone else is supposed to deal with it is beyond me!”
They headed out of the attraction and Wesley glanced down at his new companion. “Do you have to rush off or do you fancy grabbing a hot drink of some kind?”

"I still miss them but I am better then what I was dealing with the deaths" Elena said to him honestly. "Got tell you a secret" she said. "I am glad I met you now instead of then. I would thought now he is very very good looking guy, but so not taking the chance to talks to him and get him to reject me or anything." Elena was herself right now, bold, honest, and forthright. She had no reason to be any other way, and this guy did not seem to mind.
"Yeah they are still there, my 17 year old cousin just had a baby so I am hoping to go down over the summer for a few weeks for a visit" she told him. "I have family spread all over the US and some still in Bulgaria, that is where the family orginated from, but of course some migrated over here years ago, and our generation has no bulgarian accent, but we can speak it" she said with a grin. "Poor you I can imagine in Kindgergarten you having to spell that, I am sure you struggled I know I would. I am glad I have Hykes as a last name much much eaiser to say" she laughed.
Elena could not stop the blush the spread over her cheeks and chest. "I am not in a rush to go anywhere since it is my night off from both jobs." She must have luck on her side tonight, meeting a guy, seeming to connect as two people, and now him seeing if she wants to get a hot drink. "I will take that hot drink if it is a nice big cup of hot coca with mini marshmellows" she said with a grin. She didn't care the time of year she loved that to drink, it was somethign she always drank with her parents, and it was something she still did, her little shout out to them you can say.

He leaned closer when Elena stated she had a secret to share and he grinned down at her when she revealed precisely what it was. It was hard to imagine her as anything other than she was right now. Outgoing... confident... Then again, he had absolutely no reason to doubt her word but was glad she’d managed to find a way to move on from her grief. A testament to her inner strength, he was sure.
“Bulgaria, eh? We’re almost neighbours,” Wes stated on a short laugh. “Ok... maybe a previous generation but still... Poland and Bulgaria... Already we have Eastern Europe in common. That and an uncanny ability to both play seriously bad crazy golf! In kindie - and since - I tended to get called ‘Ski’,” he told her. “A heck of a lot easier than my full name and as nicks go it could be worse, right?”
He was pleased she agreed to go for a drink with him and they wandered towards the nearest cafe. “Cocoa and marshmallows?”he queried. “Now how did you know that’s my absolute favourite drink? Weird or what!” Wesley winked at Elena to let her know he was half teasing about it being his beverage of choice but he had to admit it sounded pretty damned appealing right about now!
“So two jobs? Wow... My timing was spot on then. I mean, catching you when you weren’t at work. What do you do? I really need to find myself a part-timer,”he added. “I used to be a mountain guide back up north. Summer and winter. I’m not all that good when I have too much time to kill...”

"How crazy both ahve some easteren Europe in us" Elena smiled. "Well my middle name is Konstantinova. So I geat the full name of Elena Konstantinova Hykes" she said. "So you are not the only one with a crazy name somewhere in your full name" she said. "Your nick name suits you said looking up at him. And much much easier to remember and spell" she laughed. "My parents family is from Sofia Bulgaria, and since we have family their I was talked to in both language, even some french. So if I ever get lost in europe I can communicate someway" she said with a laugh. She was going to go in a few years by herself and tour, just get to know all of Bulgaria, and visit other major cities, her dream one to visit is Venice Italy. "My dad and mom always said I had that I had the typical Bulgarian looks with the hair and the eyes.Oh her is how my name sounds in bulgarian,Åëåíà Êîíñòàíòèíîâà Hykes" she said it in the accent she was taught to use when speaking the native language.
"I am psyhic" Elena grinned. "That is just how I knew you like the same drink as me" she grinned. She laughed as they walked together. "What is your favorite thing about L.A. so far?" she asked him. She wondered if he would do the typical guy response of girls or if he would say something else entirely. Walking into the cafe she got in line with him. "It seems others wanted a hot drink today to" she noted that it was a good size line.
Here was where she would find out if he thought her werid or not. "Well my first job that I do is a waitress, the tips are good, and the hours are flexable, and my boss works with my other job so I don't miss out on either one. My other is my passion. I work for the local ghost hunting society in California. We investiage places, and see if it true what people have said, and some places we go back to repeatly if they are so active the first time, and we get such compelling evidence" she said. She looked up at him with her dark eyes wondering what he would think, she was sure her eyes were telling exactly what she was feeling. She was a terriable liar when it comes to stuff like this, her eyes gave it away. While she could lie and say she was fine after her parents died before anyone caught on and saw how badly she was.

Wes laughed slightly. “That’s some name,” he agreed. “I’ve never been to Bulgaria and only a couple of times to Poland. My grandparents live near a town called Lubin, just inside the border with Germany. I want to go back to see them again next summer... if I can! It’s a seriously old town. Goes back to around the 6th century if I remember it right.
The Canadian teenager thought hard about Elena’s next question. “That’s a tricky one,” he replied. “I can easily tell you what I miss the most. Ice hockey,” he added with a wry lift of his shoulders. “Do you know there aren’t any amateur teams in the vicinity and I have to drive a good 30 miles or more to find a rink that hosts NHL games.I guess it’s just not all that popular this far south. But you didn’t ask me that... right?”
Her answer was to fold her arms... and wait.
“I think what I like most so far is the fact that its a fair bit warmer than back in Canada. I mean, don’t get me wrong... I love the winter season as well. Winter in Whistler is... well... sheer perfection.”He broke off with a grin. “Bet you thought I’d say girls or something but to be honest, we had more than our fair share of stunners in BC. They just wear a bit less here!”At the moment I’m missing more from Squamish than I am loving here but... I haven’t been in town all that long. Not long enough to make a snap judgement and say I prefer Canada. And besides, I wouldn’t have met you up there... would I?”
Wesley fell silent and listened to Elena’s reply regarding her 2 jobs. A waitress... that was normal enough... but a ghost-hunter...? Anything but! “Oh wow! That must be exciting, eh? Have you ever run across anything you couldn’t explain as non-supernatural? I could have sworn the old lighthouse off Rookie Point in the Nanaimo Sound was haunted. I saw that many weird things going on up there... I woulda loved to have known if it was a spirit or just some kids messing around.”
