At least she hadn't told him to get lost.... Yet. That was something... right? Most people tended to react in a very different manner tio that of Jamie. She didn't appear to be in the least put off by his criminal background. A pity he couldn't similarly see it not being his fault the Kobayashi family had been forced to move across the far side of the world. He knew it was solely due to his theft of that car. Ok... no the theft as much as his subsequent arrest!
And she was still keen to teach him how to skateboard!
Were all Americans this understanding? Hold on... she'd told him she, too, wasn't a native of this country. English? Maybe... Or Canadian. He'd heard Canadians were friendly.
"You ready?"
He nodded with a gleam of excitement in his eyes. If it was half as much fun as it looked then maybe today was starting to look up!
He stepped onto the skateboard... and it promptly scooted out from unde rhis feet.
Ryu glared at the offending item from where he sprawled on his backside at Jamie's feet.
Just then the girl Jamie had called Sandy walked up and joined them. Typical that uld be just as he landed on his ass!
"And here I thought this was a more intense study group tonight."
She was teasing him and he scowled as he scrambled back to his feet. "Its harder than I thought," he stated.
"The ground?"
He speared Jamie with his glare instead. "Skateboarding," he hissed but he tried again... and this time managed to stand on the platform. He threw both girls a defiant look of satisfaction... but then again, the board hadn't moved... yet! "You can do this?" he asked the newly arrived girl.

Jamie chuckled as Ryu shot her a look for her ground comment. "Oh right. I told you, you need balance." She reminded him as he stod there not moving. "Thats the easy part." She said and turned toward Sandy, "wanna bet how long it takes before he falls again?" She asked in her Aussie accent as she chuckled some more. "No this is not study group. Its a teach skartboarding group. Who would have a study group on the weekend." She said assuming Sandy was joking.
"Next part move." She said and she lithly pushed the skateboard so it moved. She watched Ryu. Jamie didn't push it hard with her foot. Just a little. "Ryu and I were talking about America, since we are both not from here. He says its hell." She said as Ryu glared again. "Your words not mine." She reminded him. But she of course kept out the part about why he was here. She wasnt about to advertise his business.
"I was about to tell Ryu about the places to visit, like the clubs. There is not one far from here and Sunday is teen night." She said. She and Grey went there a lot. It was fun. cheesy but fun. It was something to do. "Assuming you do not fall to the ground again. Next time aim for grass. its softer." Jamie laughed she was kidding around of course.

Ryu scowled at Jamie when she teased him about falling. It wasn't like he'd meant to do it the first time! At least Sandy didn't appear to be laughing at him anymore... Or was she? It was hard to tell. He narrowed his eyes, adding what had been intending as a menacing look... just in case!
"And not hell... Purgatory, remember?" he corrected. "At least in hell I would know the face of the demon! Here it could be any number of people!" Purgatory... the domain of Enma DaiƓ. Neither cruel not benevolent. It would be far better to be housed with Maou. At least Satan's nature was known!
Jamie nudged the skateboard again and Ryu's arms rose to balance himself. It wasn't so hard... well, not at his current snail's pace!

Sandy tried not to laugh too hard at Jamie's comment. "I don't skateboard actually, however I do rollerblading. Its easier for the balance being a dancer."
"I've heard though that the falling is part of the whole thing, like riding a bicycle for the first time. You can't expect perfection the first time you try it." God, when did she turn into an adult?
"After all it took me a few years, YEARS, to do this." In her shoes, she went up on the tips of her toes and held a pose for a moment before setting down. "You don't learn that the first day of ballet."
"I know the club you're talking about. I've gone a couple times during summer but once school starts its the whole "No staying out late, you have school tomorrow" speech."

Ryu gave it a bit more of a try before stepping (a bit unsteadily) off the skateboard. He'd give it another shot some time in the near future... always assuming Jamie would teach him again! "The club sounds like it might be ok," he replied. Maybe, anyway. A club filled with kids? Not so fantastic but then again, half of them would probably be girls and that was pretty good in his book!
"So you dance...?" he added to Sandy who nodded back. "Cool." Cool... That was what they said around here... right? "Soooo... do you both want to get something to drink? Eat maybe?" Ryu seemed perpetually hungry and in spite of that was unable to put on a single ounce in weight!

Jamie rubbed her stomach. "i could go for some food. Watching you fall over and over makes me hungry." Jamie joked. "Come on Sandy, lets show Ryu how we eat in purgatory." She chuckled. "I vow to make sure you see just how fun purgatory can be. After all I may not be from here, but I find Americans to be very funny." She commented.
"There is a burger and fries joint up ahead." She pointed toward Johnny rockets. It was one of her favorite places, but she thought Ryu would love the dancing and by love she meant she could torture him in a caring way with it.
"As for the club maybe we can go after. its just a normal teen club, but honestly there is not much to do on Sunday night. Thats probably why there is a teen night." Jamie said as she picked up the skateboard and walked toward the restaurant with the other two.

She was so funny.
Hysterical even.
Ryu shot Jamie a glare when she teased him for his constant tumbles to the pavement. At least she'd agreed to go and gt something to eat. Perhaps life around here might not be quite as bad as he'd convinced himself it would be? Jamie was, after all, good company. Sandy wasn't too bad either... when she spoke. It was hard to get a word in, though, with Jamie around! Ryu wasn't complaining about that. Well... not much. He was struggling to work out everything she said but at least was managing to grasp the bulk of what she meant.
"Burger and fries?" Hardly what he was used to but then this was now his new home.
How that thought stuck in the back of his throat... probably like the burgher and fries would shortly! Next week he'd look into what sushi and sashimi places were close by but even then they wouldn't be the same as back in Tokyo. How could they?
He had no idea of what entertainment would accompany their meal.
"That sounds good to me," he replied, referring to both the meal and the club afterwards. His social diary wasn't precisely brimming with stuff to do... was it? "You weill also come?" he asked Sandy. "Or does your curfew see you have to head for home?"
