Izzy could not help but smile and laugh. The poor guy was like a child in a candy store. It was refreshing. She almost forgot what it was like. She would probably be the same way if she went to a new country...well that plus scared...Taki must be scared being in a new place for less then a week. She waited until after he spoke about the lighthouse to speak, "then I will be seeing a lot of you. I work on the school paper. I am the advice columnist, so if you see me with my nose in my computer feel free to tap me on the shoulder."
She looked over at the view Taki had pointed out earlier, "its called a lighthouse. The light is on an automatic timer. I think a man checks on it at dusk and dawn and that's it. I know its open to the public, but people say the light house is haunted. They say if you go there at night you can hear spooky noises." It was a myth, but it sounded belivable.
Izzy shrugged, "so you could go visit. Not sure you want to go at night, but you can go during the day....unless you are will to risk your life and see if the ghost story is true." Izzy knew sometimes people told ghost stories to keep kids away from certain places at night. She just had no idea if that was the case for the light house or not.

His eyes had widened as he'd listened to Izzy's reply about the lighthouse. "Haunted! Sugoi!" Awesome indeed! "I would very much like to see it... both in the day... and at night!" He was already planning the latter as an adventurous excursion one evening. If he visited during the day he felt sure he'd be able to loosen the catch of a lower floor window, using it later to gain entry once more after dark.
"In Japan we believe strongly in yurei... ghosts," he said. The Shinto version is that after death a human being becomes a spirit, sometimes a deity. It is believed that eight million deities inhabit the heavens and the earth - the mountains, the forests, the seas, and the very air that is breathed. Traditions tell us that these deities have two souls... One gentle - nigi-mi-tama - and the other violent. The ara-mi-tama." He inched a little closer to Izzy as he continued...
"It is said... " Takumi lowered his voice to a mere whisper. "... that after death a spirit is angry and impure. Many rituals are performed for seven years to purify and pacify the soul. In this way the person becomes a spirit. According to belief, a spirit wanders between the land of the living and the world of shadows. For this reason, prayers are offered to insure passage to the Land of the Dead." He glanced back over his shoulder, the air thick with suspense.
"If the soul of the dead is not purified, it can return to the land of the living as a ghost. The ghost haunts the place where it lived and persecutes those responsible for their death. It would seem someone died unaturally in the lighthouse... if it truly is haunted."
He shot Izzy a grin. "I intend to find out! Do you know of anyone who would like to join me?" She had friends so one of them might be game...

Izzy listened intently. She even saw him move closer. She should back up, but she was very interested in what he had to say about ghosts. She her self was a scaredy cat. So the idea of going to the light house in the first place was crazy. She could kick herself for bringing it up, but it was the truth. Izzy hated to lie. Izzy started to speak in Korean. Which she did speak fluently. Then she stopped, "Sorry..um..I did not mean to say that in Korean." She said taking a breath.
"What I said was...you are crazy, but I like it...going to a haunted light house....are you sure? It just sounds creepy." Izzy said with a shiver. "I don't know who would join. i could ask Eden, Ben,. Connor...I am sure there has to be a way we can set up for a small group of us to go explore the haunted lighthouse. I sure won't be going alone."
Hell even with a group she was scared. So this whole idea was not cool, but yet she felt intrigued and interested at the same time. Was it possible to be both scared and interested, "I doubt my brother would go, but I am sure if I beg he would. Besides don't tell anyone but he is a bigger scaredy cat then i am." She whispered with a small laugh, "You have your self a deal Taki. I would love to go.

"A deal?" A phrase he knew from watching far too much television. "Subarashii! Fantastic! And your secret is safe," he added with a wink. Takumi settled back in his seat. He hadn't noticed that the wheel had stopped turning and at it highest point. Izzy had said it did this to let people on and off and so he wasn't unduly concerned. Besides, his attention was locked on the distant lighthouse. "We should go tomorrow night," he stated.... and before Izzy could change her mind. "Tomorrow in the day I will loosen a ground floor window." It should be an easy task... if the group touring the building was of a decent size. He'd simply hang back a little. "We'd need torches but nothing much else really. Unless you can think of any other stuff we'd need? Maybe something to eat and drink." He might ask Annie and Ezzie too. Maybe Ashton. Not Thad, though. He didn't want to get the boy into any trouble. He wasn't positive he'd tell any of them, though. It wasn't like he knew them all that well and they might not approve. Worst still, they could tell someone else and they'd end up being discovered. No, no one he'd spoken to directly would report them but the less who knew the safer they'd be. "So... tomorrow night, Izzy-chan... we have aaah... a date?" He grinned so that she knew he was joking. "When we return to the ground we can perhaps exchange phone numbers. That way we can arrange a time and a place to meet. Although... we should meet near the lighthouse..." Now all he had to do was think of an excuse to tell his parents. There was always the option of sneaking out after they'd gone to bed... (wrapped maybe - or we can continue I'm easy!)
