"Shit! I left the packet on the dashboard!" Wesley's back straightened as he rummaged for his car keys. "No... I moved them. My jeans pocket...." He frowned. "Crap! Mom's doing the laundry today!" Sloane laughed slightly and Wes threw her a look of resignation. "Oh well... too late to fret over it now, eh?"
He relaxed once more, scowling anew when he came soooo close to snagging a couple of fries. Man, she was fast!
"Isn't there some sort of football match after school today?" he went on, unknowingly voicing what she had been pondering to herself. Wesley took a bite of the green apple he held. Not quite the same as fries but better than nothing at all! "I was thinking of maybe taking a look... Not that I like football myself all that much but..." It was popular around here and if he wanted to fit in then he knew he had to make something of an effort. "Might you be going?" he asked.

As Wesley started worrying about his condoms, Sloane just laughed. And he thought she took things too seriously. He finally settled on resignation but when he mentioned the game, Sloane had a look of surprise on her face. There was no way she had said what she thought out loud and he couldn't have known what she thought. Sloane then decided to chalk it up to all the hype that was surrounding the game. She didn't necessarily think all the hype was unwarranted because the football team didn't actually suck, surprisingly. And with Nolan as starting quarterback this season, she wouldn't be surprised if they started on a winning streak off the bat. What the boy lacked in experience, he more than made up with passion and perseverance. Both of which was what had Sloane hooked in the first place. She sighed inwardly at having the stray thought before returning to the present conversation she was having with the Canadian looker right in front of her. "I might not," she answered as she balled up the pieces of paper her bagel and fries had come in for easier disposal later. Truth was, she had already decided to swing by. But Wesley didn't need to know that. He was just asking to be polite anyway. Sloane turned her wrist to show her watch that read five minutes to the warning bell and she sighed. "I need to finish an assignment before class." She swung her legs over the bench and straightened her skirt and shirt. Adjusting her bag strap, she turned to face Wesley. "I think I like you, Canada." She stated. The corner of her left lip lifted just slightly before she turned to leave. She wasn't much for the long farewells, Sloane wasn't so she usually kept it simple. And ending it on a good note like that couldn't get any simpler, she thought. [OOC: Long reply to make up for being late Tagged to wrap?]

"Figured you wouldn't be going," he replied with a lift of his shoulders. "I mean, its not running... right?" he added with a wink. "And you're not so bad yourself," Wesley added.
He watched her leave, a half smile etched across his face. He might not understand the way she thought but then again, did he honestly need to? Come to that, Wes knew he couldn't ever hope to understand *any* girl's thought process!
He gathered his gear together and rammed the remains of his lunch back into his pack. He'd seew what the weather was like after school before committing to the game. After all, it was just as likely to be pissing it down and no way would he bother if so! He glanced skywards... It looked like it might hold... and besides, there was sure to be a cheerleading squad there... Might be worth checking it out after all!
(wrapped and thanks Nu!)
