Lily could feel her body relaxing when Haden smiled at her. Perhaps he wasn't mad at her anymore. "Oh...I'm actually warm..." she said quietly when he offered her his coat, but as he placed it over her shoulders, she let him anyway. After all, he was being quite nice now. "Thanks," she murmured.
"It's okay," she said. "I'm really glad that you're not mad at me anymore," she said, smiling when he kissed her. She took a deep breath as she looked around the room. Her brother looked concerned, but didn't say anything. Lily looked back over at Haden.
"No, I think we should stay here for at least a bit longer," she told him. "I mean, it's your prom, I wouldn't to ruin it for you," she told him. After all it was his prom...not her's. She reached over at took his hand, giving it a squeeze. "Do you still want to go surfing tomorrow?" she asked. "I'm not supposed to go anymore in case I get hurt," she admitted, "but I think I could probably go one last time... Summer's just coming up and that's actually a big training season for me...I did tell you...right?" she asked. "About going away all summer to train?" she asked.

He smoothed down his coat so her small body wasn't too revealed and when she thanked him, Haden smiled and nodded. So the boy still had it. The inimitable hold Haden had on Lily was still there. All he had to do was stop being all possessive over her. That would take some work because from today onwards, he was pretty sure guys would be falling all over her. Just yesterday he saw that giant junkie Shephard talking to Lily and laughing with her. It took a lot in him not to go ballistic on the younger guy.
"I promise I won't get mad at you anymore. I don't want guys looking at you like some piece of meat is all." He took her hand and softly rubbed circles on her palm with his thumb. When she expressed her want to stay, he just nodded. The squeeze from her made him smile. "There's still next year." He shrugged.
"Yeah about surfing...I don't think I want to and yeah we don't you hurt." He agreed with her for the sake of agreeing. The news about her being away all summer wasn't new. She already told him and he had made plans to join her over there. He had special plans for them then. Of course he wasn't about to tell her he was going. "Yeah. You mentioned it a couple days back. Where exactly are you going again?" When she mentioned the cabin resort, he just nodded, taking a mental note for later. "You want to dance or just sit here and talk?" he asked, careful to be gentle in his tone.

Lily nodded slightly although it was still weird to her. After all, guys didn't notice her...well, not usually anyway. She was short and too muscular to really be considered skinny...her hair usually fell flat in the same way...and sure she was blonde but not that super attractive highlighted blonde that guys tended to like. Usually she walked around being utterly invisible. But then again maybe it was that thing that people always said...once you're in a relationship, everybody wants you. But Lily still wasn't completely convinced that she was in a relationship...well at least not an honest one thanks to pizza girl. And Grey had only reiterated her fears and she was pretty sure she could trust him because he wasn't trying to get into her pants, at least she doubted he was.
Lily wasn't aware that Haden was planning on going to Europe over the summer. Sure, he was rich and could really do whatever he wanted probably, it still didn't occur to her that he intended to follow. Plus, Lily had already been told that she wasn't supposed to let things with Haden get serious. It was too much of a distraction and she needed to focus. The Olympics were in two years and next year would be the qualifying competitions. She needed to stay on her game if she wanted to make it to Vancouver. "We're going to the part of the alps in Austria this year," she said. Lily had been to many different parts as her family usually went there each summer since it was still cold enough and there was still enough snow to train. "It's a really small town...should be pretty quiet, which is a good thing," she said. After all, it was easier to train with less people around. "And then there is a competition in Switzerland in August...nothing big...just to gear us up for the new season." Lily had won the summer competition last year but she'd also trained a lot more. As much as she hated to admit it, Haden was a bit of a distraction. However, that didn't mean she was ready to let him go yet.
"I don't really know how to dance much," she admitted when he asked her, "maybe wait for a slow one?" she asked looking up at him.

Haden obviously didn't know that Lily knew about his dinner with Addison and even if he did know, he was sure she shouldn't care. Besides, it was his business who he ate pizza with. And it was just dinner with someone who was new to town. If Lily was jealous of it, Haden wasn't going to be responsible for it. It meant nothing. Of course, he wasn't even aware that Lily knew.
Making note of the address, he mentally reminded himself to inform his mother of the impromptu trip he was going on in the middle of his summer vacation. He was sure his mother would allow him that, in fact he was pretty sure she would be thrilled he was leaving the house. The past few months with Lily had made his mother love her for getting him out of the house. If he told her he was going to meet up with Lily, he was doubly sure his mother would get their private jet to fly him there. it would work out well, he was sure of it.
"A competition just before school re-opens? That's crazy." He laughed, meaning nothing of it. "Make sure someone tapes it when you win." He patted her knees lightly. "You don't know how to dance? Let me teach you then." Haden got to his feet, extending his hand to her with a smile.

Lily of course had no idea what Haden was planning. She figured that she'd go away over the summer and hopefully talk to him through text messages and skype...and hopefully he wouldn't start seeing someone else while she was gone. That was her real fear. But that said, had she known he was planning on flying out for a trip of his own, she would have discouraged him. Sure, Lily had taken him snowboarding but it wasn't the same. She'd snowboarded along with him and hadn't really trained those days. Lily was a lot less fun when she was training because she had to be serious and stay focused.
"Well yeah," she said. "The season starts late in the fall so we have to be ready. I don't think school is really taken into consideration since not everyone goes to school. Some people are home schooled and I guess some people should be in college but aren't because they'll have to hold off until they've retired," she explained. That was her plan too. Lily didn't like school and didn't really want to go to college but she knew her parents would make her whenever she retired. But starting so young she had a lot of years left so luckily she didn't have to think about that right now.
Lily smiled shyly when Haden offered to teach her to dance. She took his hand and stood up, taller than she normally was in her heels but still not even close to as tall as Haden. His coat covered up the majority of her dress, dwarfing her body and looking rather silly, but Lily didn't really noticed as she let Haden lead her onto the dancefloor. It was as if all of the earlier drama of the night was nothing more than a distant memory.

Haden had nothing to say on the topic so he just let her talk, which was something she used to have a problem with before. He actually felt quite proud of the progress Lily was going through. Sure, he wasn't presumptous as to think that he was the reason behind it but at the same time, he couldn't help but think that he nudged her in the right direction.
Leading her into a dance wasn't so hard despite her initially having two left feet but as they moved she seemed to pick up on the steps and soon they were just moving to the music. "Dancing isn't that hard is it?" Haden noted as he twirled her around. In that moment, all the business with her dress and him getting all wound up didn't seem to matter.
He wasn't a romantic and he obviously didn't think he was going to be spending the rest of his junior year let alone his life with Lily but he couldn't deny that the moment they were both in was absolutely perfect. If he hasn't already planned the trip to go up and see her in the summer, tonight would have been the night. But he shouldn't rush things anyway.
"Have to say, Lily...tonight's pretty okay." He whispered into her ear with a smile before giving her a kiss on the lips. It didn't start out the way he wanted but it was ending the way it should.
