Chuckling at what Christophe called her, Ella thanked him for kind of understanding. And as he laid out all the options, the easiest was the second option but the third one was obviously the right one. For her at least. Ella didn't think she'd stand a chance if she chose the third option though, so she turned to Christophe and smiled meekly. "Can we have option number four? We just go together and enjoy the night?"
Ella didn't know her own strength but she thought she knew what was best for her. What if people just saw her as straight from now on? Would that make things better? For everybody else, she was sure it would. For herself...? That she wasn't sure of. She looked to Christophe, hoping he'd have an answer but he was probably just as clueless as she was.
"I don't know, Chris..." Ella closed the container for her salad and placed it in her book bag. She took a cookie and nibbled on it. It was funny how things like this didn't hamper Ella's appetite at all. "I guess it's no big deal if I don't find the girl now. I just don't think it's necessary to cause such a commotion over a small thing." She shrugged before pulling Christophe's hand into hers and smiled at him.
"How about it, you and me go together?" she asked. "I'll even rent the tux and limo and I'll buy you the corsage." She laughed. "Maybe I should make it known for the people going to prom that bringing same sex dates is encouraged..." she threw the idea out, not really thinking it would get a bite. What if the teachers responsible for the committee found out about it? Would they ban it entirely? But it was worth a shot, no?

“Option four... I hadn’t thought about that,” he mused with a distant look on his face. He was still listening - just thinking that through at the same time. He glanced down at her hand when she grasped his. “But its not a small thing, Ella,” he gently pointed out. “This is your happiness we’re talking about and right now that’s the most important thing you can possibly face.” His own happiness was pretty non-existent as well but it was more easily sorted than Ella’s own situation. Of that he was sure.
He smiled back at her and covered their hands with his free one.
“Go together...” he repeated and he nodded. “You have a deal! But I will sort out my tuxedo and the car. As for your corsage...” He threw her a mock scowl. “As this is likely to be my one and only prom let me at least have the honour and pleasure of buying my date her corsage... even if we are only really going as friends,” he finished with a wink. “Just tell me the colour of your dress so that we match and I get the right flowers.) It wouldn’t pay for Ella to have a, for example, pink dress and for him to opt for a red tie. Pink and red... He shivered slightly. He couldn’t imagine either of them in those colours!
“To be honest, I am pretty certain some same sex dates are already going. I have heard of a few couples such as that. Honestly, there will be same gender pairings at the prom. I would bet my last dollar on that! So your dress. Have you sorted one yet or will you be able to let me know tomorrow? The sooner the better so I can get the other things also arranged.” Now that he was going to the dance - and not alone - it felt like a ton weight had been lifted from his shoulders. So what if his companion wasn’t a date as such? A friend like Ella was far harder to find than a date... and Ella wouldn’t turn around and hurt him either.

With her head hung low, Ella had to agree with Christophe. "I know...I know. I just don't want it to be such a big deal now. It's high school. It shouldn't really be a big deal now." She looked up and gave him an exasperated look. "Maybe I shouldn't have said anything about it. You think I could take it all back and just make this lunch just a lunch? And you as a boy, are asking me, as a girl, to the prom. It'll be our little secret." She gave him an ever so hopeful smile.
His scowl made Ella laugh. "Okay, if you insist." She felt a lot better now. Not just because of prom but mostly because she felt better now that she had sorted out the whole coming out thing. Maybe she didn't have to be so uptight about it now. It's just high school. She was graduating in two months time. It shouldn't be a big deal! Even if Christophe did mention it was her happiness they were talking about. Maybe she'll just have to suck it up now. Later, when she's out of this place, she'll be freer than now. Maybe then she can even forget about the girls she threw herself at.
"Dress...um yeah I think my mom put aside a dress she liked for me." Ella chuckled. "She planned my prom when she found out one of her twins was a girl." It was true. She even had a scrapbook for it. Of course, her mother envisioned a boy asking her to the prom. Her mother was quite disappointed when even at the last week Ella hadn't told her that a guy had approached her. Ella bet top dollar that her mother was going to be in love with Christophe when he comes over to pick her up.
"It's kind of creamy yellow? I don't know exactly." She waved it off like it was nothing. "I may be a cheerleader but I know nothing about style. Case in point," she pulled her hand from Christophe's only to point to her jeans and t-shirt look. "Thanks for this, Chris. I appreciate it." She grabbed his hand once more and squeezed it gently, accompanying it with a soft smile.
[OOC: Wrap or tag to? Or do you want to continue? Fine by me either way!]

“Creamy yellow... Got it,” he replied. Already he was thinking of possible flowers for her corsage. A pale cream rose would be nice but he imagined the arrangement to be dotted with small crystals. Like tiny tear drops... “Bien, it is sorted,” he stated with a bright smile. “But if you get asked by someone more... ah... suitable then I will not be offended if you change your mind.” By that he meant a girl, of course. For himself and this close to the dance he knew it was very unlikely he’d get asked... Apart from anything else who would do the asking? He didn’t exactly know a lot of girls and besides, the more he thought about it the greater Ella’s company appealed. No strings... No games... Just a fun evening all round. What more could he ask for? (OOC: Short I know but... wrapped I reckon ) Ella’s corsage: www.ladybuggs.co.uk/images/shop/smallsilkposy/silk-wrist-corsage.jpg
