LizBeth certainly was an enigma. Ben was still trying to figure out...something he normally didn't bother with, but for some reason she seemed to be intriguing him more than normal girls. Maybe is was the accent...or the Baby One More time fashion sense, but there was something about her, even if she seemed like the complete opposite of everything he normally went for.
"Yep, probably," he said, dismissing the idea that she would have seen him somewhere else. He wasn't aware of himself making it in the press anytime recently, but you never knew... Sure, maybe she did seem like the kind of girl that would be turned on to the fact that he had celebrity parents but he still wasn't about to brag. She seemed to like him fine not knowing anyway. Just then, almost as if someone had cued them two girls maybe 13 or 14 rushed over to him holding a tabloid. It wasn't the cover story or anything but featured on the side was a picture of his parents when they were younger and together with the caption 'Are They Back Together?' scrawled under it. Beneath that was a picture of them taken walking into the funeral together with Ben and Eden slightly ahead of them.
"See...that's totally him," one of the girls said pointing.
"Oh my gosh!" she other one gushed, "Is it true...are they back together?"
Ben took the magazine from them and looked at the front. He shook his head and sighed. "No," he said, flatly to the girls, turning away from them. They stood there for a moment longer, looking expectantly until they took the hint and went away. Ben was pissed. That picture had been taken yesterday and there is was already printed on the cover of a Saturday issue! And where did people come up with this stuff? This was why Ben hated Hollywood... He much preferred to stay under the radar.
"Ignore that," Ben said to LizBeth before going on. "You talk about public school like its a disease. It's really not so bad...." Ben liked public school. He liked it because he could be more anonymous there. "Maybe you'll even end up liking it too. I mean, public school doesn't automatically mean poor." Ben was living proof of that.
Ben smiled as she wrote his number on his hand. He supposed she wanted him to be proper and call her and ask her out instead of just doing it right then. Maybe he'd call her later and ask her out for later in the week, especially since it seemed like they might hang out for a bit now.
"Well, I'm not really a fan of tourist places either, but I don't know if you'd be a fan of my favorite place then," he grinned thinking of the Venice boardwalk which full of hippies and certainly not short on bums. "I guess I spend more of my time at the beach though," he said, "but you don't really look dressed for the beach. Maybe I could take you somewhere else though," he said. "What kind of stuff do you like to do?" he asked, figuring it might give him a better idea of where to take her. He was still a bit annoyed over the whole tabloid thing though and it sort of made him just want to go home and hide out there. But he'd agreed to take LizBeth somewhere, and he would honor that, not that he really minded anyway.
