It was a long day for Tyler, even if it had been an enjoyable one, and he felt he deserved a chance to relax a little bit, enjoy himself and indulge his love of beautiful women, before the trip up to spend the weekend with one of them. And the pep rally was the perfect chance to do this. All the cheerleaders of both schools would be in attendance, all dressed in those skimpy little uniforms he loved to admire, even despite the weather. God love those women and their perseverance. And their figures. They all had really, really nice figures. Not to mention the flexibility they all also seemed to possess, at least, the ones he’d so far had the pleasure of being with. It made him love being a footballer all the more, the extra time he got to spend with those ladies as a result.
Besides, the cheerleaders put so much effort into cheering on and supporting the football teams, it was only right that he returned that effort. So parking outside the school, having driven straight from Skye’s house, he grabbed his letterman jacket and draped it on before getting out of his pride and joy.
Ignoring the crowd gathered inside, he headed straight inside, walking towards the girls’ locker room, knowing they would be getting ready at about this time. Of course, it was tempting to pop his head inside, but he was a gentleman after all, so he was prepared to wait outside for someone to come out. Luckily it wasn’t needed, one girl making an appearance just as he reached the locker room.
Smiling at the sight of Haley, he let his eyes roam very briefly over her. Yes, he really loved those uniforms. “Haley, you’re looking amazing.” Tyler grinned, taking her hand to press a kiss to it. “And I have to say congratulations. That was some party you threw last night. I think it’s going to be talked about for a long time to come.”

Cameron was beside himself. All he'd been hearing the past two days was how Tyler had been all over Haley at her party (okay, not all he heard, but the only thing that mattered) and Haley had been completely ignoring him! He'd called her, texted her, emailed her, tried to physically talk to her but she wouldn't answer his calls and when he'd seen her in the halls she'd made up excuses to leave right away. Cam just didn't get it...what had he done wrong?
He headed toward the pep rally, since he'd told Haley earlier in the week that he'd be there but now he was wondering if he should even bother. No...of course he had to go. Not going would just make things worse...right? Plus, he wasn't aware he'd done anything wrong so maybe this was all just some big misunderstanding. It didn't even occur to him that Haley could be mad about him not really being at her party. After all, he'd been there, the alcohol just hadn't mixed well with him and he'd passed out early in the night.
Cam's eyes scanned everywhere for Haley but it seemed that the cheerleaders hadn't emerged yet from the locker rooms...maybe he should go and find her... He headed toward the locker room, wondering if this was all a terrible idea when he saw Tyler. He was about to catch up with the boy...who had always been friendly to him...but then he saw Haley emerge. She was so happy as he kissed her hand as if they were a couple of something. He stopped dead, standing stock still as he watched them, tears welling up and stinging the backs of his eyes. He took a deep breath, sucking the air in so hard that it hurt. All he could think of was that is was over...

Haley was busy getting ready. Okay she knew she might be over reacting, cause Cam did passout, but seriously. He passed out within the first hour. Haley hadn't even had her frist drink until the second hour of the party. Now in Haley's mind there was only one reason to drink that early, you were nervous. Why was Cam so nervous?
This party had been teh chance to show her friends that he could be with the rest of tehm and be okay. Yes, Haley knew things like this could make Cam uncomfortable, but all she had asked was for him to attend one party and barely anyone saw him. She did not get to introduce him as boyfriend or anything. Hell she herself had not even seen him until she went up to her room. In her mind he had not even shown up.
So yes, Haley was ignoring him for now, cause quite frankly she didn't want to see him. Was she a bitch for simply wanting him to fit in with her friends, perhaps, but at teh same time wasn't part of dating hanging out with each other's friends. Haley had faither her friends would accept him, or at least tolerate him, but it didn't work unless he seemed as if her was trying.
So when Haley ran into Tyler she smiled and of course did not stop him from kissing her hand. Someone was paying attention to her. Call herspoiled, but she was still a girl and enjoyed the attention of a man, especially her boyfriend, oh well. "Thank you Tyler." Haley placed her hand on his shoulder and kissed his cheek. Which she did with all her guy friends.
Haley removed her hand and smiled, "I swear theese skirts have gotten shorter. You think?" she really did think this. "You are so kind, the party was a hit cause you provided the best alcohol I think. Thanks again for all the help." Haley finally saw Cam, her eye catching his. Waiting for him to come over. "Cam...hi." She called.

When Haley made a move to kiss his cheek, Tyler considered briefly whether to turn his head just enough to brush his lips against her own instead, but decided against it. The fact that the girl wasn’t single only cause him just a little pause, if he really wanted someone, and he was certain that they reciprocated this desire, then he wouldn’t let such a trivial thing get in the way of their mutual enjoyment.
It was time restraints that were causing his current hesitation. Perhaps because of Cam, he felt the girl would take just a bit more work seducing, though he knew he would succeed regardless. But even if right at that moment she decided she just had to have him, the pep rally was to start shortly, and he was already all booked up straight afterwards, and for the rest of the weekend. So he really had no time with which to indulge himself. He would just have to take a raincheck, save some fun with the girl for another day.
“Shorter?” Tyler mused, taking a step back to run his eyes over her, more specifically her legs, happy for the opportunity. “Well, now that you mention it, I believe you’re right. I have to admit, I like it that way.” he chuckled playfully. Though he couldn’t get up to any real fun with her tonight, there was no harm in a bit of flirting. “And you can certainly pull it off. In fact, I think a little shorter would be even better.”
Shaking his head adamantly, he gave a grin. “No, I only had a small party to play in last night’s festivities, but I was happy to play it. The success was all to do with you. And anytime you feel like a repeat performance, let me know. I’d be more than happy to help you out again.” It really had been a great party, and a great hot tub, and a great make out session with the cute Shelby. He wouldn’t mind repeating any of that again.
At the mention of Cam’s name, Tyler followed Haley’s gaze and smiled warmly at the guy, not that all bothered by the fact that he had just been flirting with his girlfriend. It was all harmless, for now. “Ah Cam, good to see you. It’s been a little while. I must have missed you last night.” he greeted, taking a few steps towards him to shake his hand. “I was just congratulating your girlfriend on the great party she threw last night. I really enjoyed it. So, you two have any plans for the weekend?”

Cam just stood there for a moment. It was taking all of his self control not to just burst into tears and it was causing him to get red in the face. Tyler being nice to him didn't help...it just made Cameron angrier. If Tyler was going to take his girlfriend from him, he could at least have the decency to be mean about it!
"Really?" Cam said, pausing. "Really...so you're going to steal my girlfriend and act like we're still friends?" Cam asked him, keeping his voice as even as he could. Maybe Tyler would hit him and yeah, it would probably hurt, but could anything hurt worse than this? Seeing his Haley with someone else??
"So...this is why you've been avoiding me?" Cameron asked, now looking Haley in the eyes. "You know, if it was over you could have just told me. Yeah, I would have been upset...but just going behind my back like this..." he shook his head and took a deep breath, which was the only thing preventing him from crying right now. "You know, good luck with Tyler," he said to Haley, "because I guarantee that he isn't dating just you...maybe that's what you want...to date more than one person...but...but I don't," he said. "So...so just...just go have fun and make out or whatever you two were getting ready to do," Cam said, yelling now. He started to walk away, letting the tears fall from his eyes once the other two couldn't see his face.
Looking down he wiped his tears away with the back of his hand. He felt a combination of embarrassed and just plain broken. He hadn't told her yet, but he loved Haley. He'd even turned down his early MIT acceptance and when he heard his yeses from all the Ivy League's he'd applied to on April 1st (when college acceptances come out), he planned to turn all those down too. He'd already applied to several UCLA and USC so he could stick around LA for another year until Haley finished school. But he supposed that was useless now. He'd already ruined things with MIT, where he had really wanted to go, but he still had his choice of Ivy Leagues...he knew he would. After all, without Haley he had no reason to stay here...he might as well head to the East Coast for school like he'd always planned.

"Any shorter and my ass will begin to show..but something tells me thats exactly what you would like. You know Tyler, we wear underwear with these skirts, so if you are hoping for a peep show. keep dreaming." Haley joked back. She was a friendly girl and yes sometimes that transformed into flirty, but she was an honest girl and would never cheat. "But this skirt does make my legs look long doesn't it." Haley was a bit vain and had to admire her legs.
Haley walked with Tyler and stood between them as they shook hands, "No plans for the weekend, I am surprisingly free." She snipped. She had to talk to cam about her feelings of being ignored. In front of Tyler was not the place to do it, but apparently cam did not get the memo when he went off. "Cam he is stealing no one....we are not over." Haley said, but Cam kept going off.
"But we aren't..Cam we are friends..." Haley said, "At least he was there last night...I never even saw you come to the party. I didn't even know you were there until I found you passed out in my bedroom. So forgive me, for enjoying the fact that a guy was paying attention to me at my party. A guy that should have been MY boyfriend, but no...cause he decided to pass out before the alcohol was even cold." Haley called out to Cam.
"So if you want to get upset cause I am talking to Tyler, then go ahead, but there is nothing going on between him and I...cause I am faithful...I do enjoy dating one person....Tyler might not, but that is his own deal and if he wants that then fine...but I also know that Tyler respects people and he respects OUR relationship....one you apparently do not want any more."
Haley shook her head in frustration. "Forget it...I am not even doing this stupid pep rally. I am so over it and I so going home...sorry you had to see that Tyler." Haley said as she turned the other way to leave. Not wanting to deal with Cam right now.

Maybe he should give Cam a bit more credit, Tyler started to realise. Sure, he wasn’t going to make a move on Haley tonight, but it was in his plans for the immediate future, so he supposed he shouldn’t be too surprised that Cam picked up on it. The guy was supposed to be some kind of genius after all, as he recalled. But then again, the footballer’s love of pretty women, and sleeping with them, was very well known and as Haley just so happened to fall into the beautiful category, it wasn’t so much of a stretch to think that he would want to sleep with her.
At least Haley hadn’t made that link, and he could use that, convince the other guy of the same. And it meant he’d have to put his plans with the girl on hold, but it seemed a necessity. He didn’t need a jealous boyfriend sniffing around, being annoying, and besides, he could have a bit of fun with Cam himself.
Though it was becoming apparent that these were things he wouldn’t need worry about, as the couple seemed to break up in front of him. He remained quiet as they argued, though he silently agreed with Haley. If you were going to date one of the popular girls, especially a cheerleader, there were social conventions to comply with, and Cam not making a show at the party, at least one that involved people actually seem him, was at odds with that.
Still, Tyler would have much rather not be in the middle of all this, and he was wishing it had been another cheerleader he’d came across. But now that he was involved, he felt he had to do something. Which was more than a little annoying. What was with him being a good person all of a sudden? It involved a lot more responsibility than he would have liked.
“Nothing to apologise for Haley.” he assured her as she turned to go. “And please, stay for the rally. At least for the sake of your squad. I’ll deal with this.” He’d much rather deal with a couple of cute, admiring cheerleaders, but the things you had to do for friends. Jogging just a little, he quickly caught up to Cam, gently grabbing the guy’s shoulder to make him stop.
After just one look at his face, Tyler made sure they were both facing away from the girl, as well as out of earshot. It would do no good for her to see her boyfriend all red faced and teary eyed, it really wasn’t a good look. “She’s right, you know.” he told him softly. “Haley and I are nothing more than friends. Come on, do you really think I’d be interested in dating someone who’s already taken? Not to mention, who’s the girlfriend of a friend of mine? Besides, you said it yourself, I’m not one for dating.” he admitted with a grin.
“So she’s avoiding you, you say? I think she just made it pretty clear as to why. The party was really important to her, and you know being there for her, well, you disappointed her. Here’s the thing, you want to date a girl like Haley, you’ve gotta do things like that, be there for her, even if situations you may not be all that comfortable with. It’s the price you pay for love.” he grinned. “So, if you still want a girlfriend by the end of today, I suggest you go back to her, apologise till your face is blue, beg for her to forgive you and ask how you can make it up to her. At least, that seems like the way to attack this, to me.” Wow, he really was a regular ‘ol Dr Phil.

Up until this point, Cam was not aware he'd done anything wrong, so Haley flipping out on him wasn't exactly something he had expected, although he didn't exactly agree with her accusations. She knew that he had never drank any alcohol before the other night...how did she expect him to react? It wasn't as if he'd gone and chugged 5 drinks...he'd had too, which had apparently been strong.
It seemed that he had been wrong about Tyler though, although he didn't completely believe that either. Tyler Durnham had been flirting with his girlfriend and Haley had made it no secret that she was flirting back. It didn't matter that they hadn't done anything yet...it was only a matter of time. As much as he wanted to trust Haley, he didn't trust Tyler. And how did he even know he could trust Haley...she had shown up to his party with Wynn a few months ago...
He felt hands on him and the next thing he knew Tyler was in his face, confirming that nothing happened and trying to tell him that they were friends. "We're not friends," Cam said firmly. "If you were my friend you wouldn't have been flirting with her at all...I know what I saw," he said. Maybe Cam was inexperienced when it came to dating but it didn't mean he was naive. He knew what flirting looked like and they had both been doing it...pretty bad.
"I was fine with her stupid party," Cam said, starting to get a little frustrated. "And I don't care if I feel comfortable or not...as long as she's there and she's happy. I just drank too much. I was trying to do what she said I was supposed to do at a party...drink and hang out and have fun...only unlike you people I don't drink all the time...or ever," he said, a little embarrassed about his lack of drinking experience, but that was hardly the main concern right now. "So I screwed up...I had two very strong drinks and then I didn't feel well. I only went to lay down for a bit...figuring I could rejoin the party once I felt better, only instead I woke up the next morning and Haley wasn't talking to me." Cam took a breath and then shook her head, "So you can tell her that or not. I've already done enough and given up enough and if she's going to be mad at me for trying to do something that she wanted...I just...I just don't know what to do anymore."
Now Cam was being overly dramatic. He was already imagining himself the pained ex-boyfriend who'd given up his future too early. Of course, once he came to his senses, he probably would take Tyler up on that advice and apologize profusely but for now, Cam was being dramatic and not really thinking all that clearly anyway. He sort of pushed Tyler out of his way and continued walking, figuring there was no point in staying for the pep rally now.

Haley was possibly over reacting, but it was just not fair. Yes she told him to drink, but not to pass out right away. everyone knows if you don't drink then you start with just one adn take it from there. Not drink right away and then go pass out. Then again Haley had never really explained this to Cam, but she also did not know any of this. Haley just thought cam drank and passed out so he did not have to deal with the party.
Haley stopped when Tyler spoke. She rolled her eyes, "You're right...I can't let the team down, but my head is not in it." Besides Trixie was not even here, so why should she be. Haley did stop and leaned against the wall. "Go try, but...he said its over and if he won't listen to me and stick around to talk about it in private then so be it. "
Haley was not about to have the discussion in front of Tyler she would have excused herself and Cam but Cam started walking away, so Haley was not about to go chase him down. Maybe she should, but she had just explained that nothing was going on adn Cam was still walking away. Plus she was a bit upset and frustrated herself, so...she was not thinking clearly. "I mean am I in the wrong for being upset and feeling ignored and being mad?"
Maybe she was and if so then she needed someone to tell her, but she didn't think so. she thougth she had a right to be angry cause Cam basically ignored her. She didn't get to show him off or anything. Which just made her think cam really didn't want to accept this part of her life. She accepted his friends...only they did not accept her, but she was probably just as big a dork as they all were, only they did not know it.
Haley waited watching Cam and Tyler talk not being able to hear a thing until Cam looked as if he sort of pushed Tyler, if you could call it a push adn kept walking, "Cam! Don't walk away....talk to me..." But it did not help. "So thats it...its just over...." No responde. "Fine..." She called after Cam.
Haley looked at Tyler, "Thanks for trying." She said softly. "Lets just go get this pep rally over with although is till really want to skip it and just go have a drink or something." She muttered more to herself then to him.

The guy took Tyler by surprise. Just by looking at him, he would have figured that Cam would be a pushover, a wimp. He wouldn’t have expected him to have at bit of a backbone, at least when it came to going toe to toe with him. He was used to guys backing down when things came to a confrontation, and while this wasn’t one in the usual sense, he still didn’t expect Cam to stand up to him, even in the slightest. The fact that he did gave Tyler something to admire about the guy. It could have been interesting, not to mention amusing, making friends with him. Though it became clear that was now more than likely off the cards.
“Cam, I apologise if I’ve overstepped the line in any way, but I assure you, I was intentionally trying to piss you off. I flirt, that’s part of my personality, and I didn’t mean anything by it, not in regards to Haley. I know she’s taken, I wasn’t trying to make a move on her.” Not yet anyway. “And she was just being friendly back. You’ve got to start worrying less.”
He knew the cheerleader in question wouldn’t be impressed by her party being called stupid, so he decided to keep that bit of information to himself. No need to go upsetting her further now, not when Cam seemed to be doing such a good job of that already. He did regret this blow up a bit for himself now, a night out with the guys would have been funny indeed if he’d brought such a lightweight along.
“I think she’s more mad about you not being there for her, when she wanted you to be, rather than the passing out. You could have not turned up entirely and the result would have been the same, and she would have been just as mad, I’m sure. And you might have thought it was a stupid party, but it was important to her.” He shrugged, scratching at his chin. He was getting just a little bored of this lovers’ quarrel, but he knew well enough to hide this. “I can’t tell you what to do. We both know I’m far from knowledgeable about relationships. I can tell you this though, I know you think you tried, but, she doesn’t see it like that. So maybe you should try telling her all this, rather than me.”
It came apparent though, at least, it seemed that way to Tyler, that his words were having very little effect, and with the push that barely moved him from the spot, he made no further effort to try and talk Cam around. If the guy didn’t want listen, then he wasn’t going to push. Especially when there were many more fun things he could be doing. He’d had just about enough drama for the day. So he headed back to the girl, shrugging as a way to sum up the success of his attempt.
“Hey, don’t worry about it, that’s what friends are for.” Tyler smiled softly as he leant against a locker close to Haley. He glanced over to see if Cam was going to change his mind and come back at Haley’s calling, but guessing that wasn’t the case, turned his attention back to the woman.
“Well, that’s understandable. And I suppose the other girls would see things that way too, if you really don’t think you’re up to it. And I would normally be more than happy to take you out,” he offered with a small laugh, “But my plans for the night are booked up. I can help you get started though if you like.” He pulled a small flask out of his pocket, speaking as he did. “Or you can give Cam another chance and chase after him.” He held out the flask, gesturing in Cam’s general direction with his head. “So what will it be?”
