"Water is perfect," he assured Lia. "But I am hoping you will come with me tomorrow after school. I told Genny I would ask if you were free as she would like to see you too. If not then of course I will let you know how the interview goes." He filled the final glass with water for himself and set it down on the table.
He heard the front door open and he lifted his head to see who had arrived. A woman. She could only be their mother as the similarity to Lia was breath-taking.
Lia's words of introduction confirmed his belief. The woman held out an elegant hand towards Christophe who was overcome with an immediate gut reaction. He held her hand and drew it up to his lips and p[ressed a light kiss to the back of her fingers. "Enchanté. Un plaisir de vous rencontrer," he said with a friendly smile. She really was astonishing to look at. "I can't promise I won't tempt Llyria onto the water but you have my oath I will always return her and in safety." His dark eyes glinted with amusement as he spoke.

Lia was used to people's reactions to her mother, she was beautiful after all. She only hoped that she would carry herself so well when she reached that age. "I will always come back to you and the boys," she promised with a flash of her bright eyes. She turned with a flip of her long silky hair and grabbed a loaf of Italian bread and a crock of butter to set upon the table. "Come eat before it gets cold."
The boys joined them and almost escorted their mother to the table with loving touches and bits of news from their day. Coco seated herself at Saint's feet and seemed very content. "So, how was school," Lily asked with a twinkle in her eye as she seated herself at the head of the table. This was her favorite time of day. Jandro grinned. "Someone put the principal's car upon top of the flag pole. You know the one on the rooftop. They say it was Evan and Patch, though some believe they have been framed for it. That would take either good contacts or lots of money, which neither of them have,"he stated with conviction.

Christophe was content to sit back and let the Juarez family chat amongst themselves. Lia's cooking was delicious and so he had more than enough to keep him occupied. Before long, though, the meal had ended and Christophe offered his thanks, adding to that by helping to clear the table.
"Your family is great fun," he stated as he rolled up his sleeves and prepared to start washing the plates. "I am very glad you invited me over," he added with a warm smile. Tomorrow he would face his interview but with Lia's charm in his pocket he knew he couldn't fail. How could he? Today had been a seriously good one. First his job at the boat-yard and then meeting Genny and her other job opening. And now dinner with Lia.
It didn't get a heck of a lot better than that!
(I suppose we should wrap this thread as we're a long way behind the TC LOL!)

(we could go for a record. lol)
Jandro and Christophe were doing the dishes which gave Lia a free moment to work on the charm. She closed her bedroom door and lit the candle on her altar as she began. It was not a complicated spell, more a calling of blessings and so she soon emerged wrap her arms around Christophe from behind to hug him and when he turned she grinned and gave him a quick kiss on the lips before slipping the charm over his head. It was basically a small silken bag in teal green with a couple of stones within and some herbs. "This will bring you luck in work and finances. The stones inside attract the right kinds of vibrations." She was completely sincere as she gazed up at him.

Her hug and then kiss had taken Christophe by surprise... A nice surprise. Very nice, in fact! He looked down at the small bag that now hung around his neck. Long enough of a thread so as to sit easily hidden beneath his shirt. "So that is why you asked me for my favouite colour, non? You are very sneaky Llyria," he said with a laugh. "And with this the job at the aquarium is alreay mine. Thank you," he added with a slight dip of his head and he leaned down to kiss her back. "You are not only beautiful but also kind and thoughtful." He smiled when his comment brought a blush to her cheeks. She really was adorable.
"So can you come with me tomorrow? I will be sure to see Genny there and I know she would love you to also come but, of course I understand if the notice is too short. Regardless I will call you afterwards and tell you how brilliantly well your charm functioned and when I am due to begin!" It didn't hurt to be confident, did it? After all, if he went in there tomorrow showing uncertainty and a lack of self belief he would surely be turned down.

Lia smiled at his confidence. She was sure he would get the job as well. "I would love to come with you, as long as I won't be a distraction,"she said still blushing. She liked Christophe more than she had liked anyone else and she would be worrying while she waited to find out. I will meet you outside after school. "You will definitely get the job."
Saint stood and smiled. "There is no way he could say no. You have Lia's god and goddess on your side now," he said, putting away the butter carefully. "She is going to a retreat in two weeks for Spring equinox at Joshua Tree National Park. If you get the job, you might consider going along." Saint didn't like the idea of Lia camping with a bunch of strangers.

"Fantastique!" Christophe said with a bright smile. "After school... and then we can head over to the aquarium together. I am not sure how long I will be with Mr Anderson but I am sure you will find plenty to look at while you wait. And afterwards I will buy you something. An ice cream perhaps. To celebrate my new job." He laughed as he spoke, knowing he was assuming he already had secured the position. There was always the chance Dale Anderson would take an instant dislike to the French boy and not give him the job. Hopefully that wouldn't prove to be the case.
He turned to look at Saint when he spoke, despite knowing the other boy couldn't see him. "Ah yes, no mortal can hope to stand up against gods and godesses, right?" Christophe winked at Lia. "So you are leaving me alone? I am already sad," he said in response to Saint's remark concerning the retreat. "If I am able I would love to accompany you. I suppose it hinges on school and work but we will cross our fingers and hope it can be done."
Christophe wiped his hands on a towel after finising his task at the sink. "But now I have to go," he said in a rueful tone. "My thanks for a lovely meal and a pleasure to meet you, Madame Juarez. You too, Saint... Jandro," he added. "And of course, Coco also." He laughed when the malamute responded to her name with a sweeping wag of her tail.
He reached for his jacket. "I will see you tomorrow, Llyria," he said in parting. "If not during the day then afterwards. And thank you," he added, touching the charm. "Saint is right in that I can't possibly fail."

Lia's face shone when Christophe intimated he might join her camping and she decided she would not hurt Saint for interfering after all. Lily decided that her little girl had very good taste in boys and that worrying about that one of her children could be eased up on at any rate. " We enjoyed the company and you're always welcome," she said to Christophe. Saint smiled and held out his hand. "It was great meeting you, Christophe. Let me know when you want to introduce our canine halves. I am unlikely to have plans. Coco on the other hand, you know how females are," he said and prepared to duck as Jandro slipped out and left him to fend on his own. "Nice meeting you Christophe," he called in parting and headed for the safety of his room.
