(ooc started a new thread as my brain wouldn't cope with all 3 of my boys in the same one YIKES!)
Felipe arrived first and paced the area at the front of the building waiting for Jessica to arrive. Impatient? Perhaps... a little... but in a good way. He liked hanging out with Jessica despite (or was that in spite of?) Patch's dire words of warning. So what if she had a temper? Didn't everyone? But trying to kill someone? No, that he couldn't believe. The Jessica he knew was vulnerable and screamed a need for protection. A protection Felipe was more than happy to provide.
Several other kids from school turned up while he was waiting and the couple he knew he spoke briefly with. No sign of Kian as yet but it was still pretty early. What was a concern, though, was the number of fancy dress outfits he saw enter the building. Had he misunderstood Kian? Was he supposed to have come similarly attired? It was too late now and at least Jessica would be in normal clothing as well so he wouldn't be the only one.
He glanced up from his study of his boots when he heard a car pull up. He didn't recognise it. Why would he? But its driver was very familiar. A smile slid onto his face as he set off to meet her.
"I'm really glad you could come," he said when she'd stepped out of the car. "I was... concerned you'd changed your mind."

Jess couldn't help it. She grinned like a goof. He was glad she'd come. Glad to spend time with her. Glad to have her as a friend. All of those things and more endeared him more to the tough, and mostly withdrawn, teen. It not only made her feel good, but gave her an itch in the back of her mind.
It couldn't be that she was falling for Felipe, could it?
Of course not. That was crazy talk.
“Not this time,” half joking, Jess winked. Actually winked. God, she really needed to pull it back. He was a guy. Her friend, yes, but a guy. Eventually he'd abandon her for someone else. It always happened, she'd seen it time and again, with both her mom and her dad. Through other people. It was never a solid, continual thing. Someone always ended up hurt.
Stop THAT Jess ordered herself.
“Later I can take you out to eat. Unless you have plans for after?” Either way she was going to go joy riding in the car. No point in having it if she wasn't gonna do something with it. With or without daddy's knowledge.
Screw him anyway.
“Have you ever bowled before?” Bouncing from one topic to the other, Jess hoped she was hiding her nerves. This was different from bouncing out of school for a quick lunch on the boardwalk.

Felipe grinned. "I am an expert," he whispered. "Back home I played a lot. We used to meet at a place called Sato Bowling Comércio de Artigos Pará in Rua Engenheiro Mesquita Sampaio." He grinned again. "Try saying that three times after you've had a few cervejas!" He laughed as they started to head for the alley's entrance and he placed one hand against Jessica's back... Just where it arched inwards slightly.
"Anyway, at home I have... aah..." He started to count off the fingers of his other hand. "Four trophies for bowling but I think it might be fun to act like I have never played before. You know... like a ringer," he finished with a wink. "At least I think that's the right word."
In good spirits the pair headed inside with Felipe all the more convinced that Patch had been trying to frighten him away from Jessica so that he could move in himself. It wasn't going to happen and he wanted Jessica to know about his conversation.
"I met someone yesterday. He said he knows you. Patch... but I don't think he gave me his last name. I think he might be here today... and someone called Evan. He seemed to think that might cause a problem." He shot her a quick sideways glance. "It won't... will it?"

The had at the small of her back was both pleasant and off setting. Jess had no idea what to do with it as she'd never allowed anyone as close as Felipe had gotten. Not so much physically, she'd done some things to put men off their guard, but only to bean them over the head and snag their wallets and what cash had lain within. It hadn't been the safest way to get money, but it had been a way to get money.
She was still “pure” as far as some things went, but damned if she wasn't jaded.
Laughing at the secret knowledge that Felipe had bestowed upon her, Jess shook her head. “You and I are more alike than I thought.” In some ways at least. He was hustling at bowling, she would hustle at cards. It was amazing what one learned about a person.
As comforting as it was to know that Felipe had some of her tendencies, even if they were used for different purposes, Jess's back stiffened quickly as “Patch” was brought up. And then “Evan”. A darkness crossed the teen's face replacing the easy smile she'd had and destroying the butterflies that had begun to flit around in her stomach at Fel's touch to her back.
Them
A single word thought with so much venom. Pressing her teeth together hard enough to grind them, Jessica's breath shortened as she fought not to scream.
Conspiracy! They were out to ruin EVERYTHING she had going for her. They'd already taken part in taking away the freedom she'd struggled so hard to get and then maintain. They'd burnt down her house, thrown an idiotic note folded in the form of a paper airplane at her, tried to buy her off with a dumbass cat collar...
“Problem?” The word was barely spoken.
He's been looking forward to bowling. He wants to play and shock everyone with his prowess at knocking down the pins. The internal dialogue continued. It wouldn't be fair to ruin this for him. But THEY are gonna be here. Shit shit SHIT. This isn't FAIR!
“As long as they don't start something.” Again.

"If they do then let me handle it, ok?" Felipe held up his hands to forestall wjhat he knew would be coming next. "I know, I know. You can look after yourself but maybe I *want* to do it instead. Ever considered that?" He tightened his arm around her waist as they headed deeper into the bowling alley. "I can't see Patch anyway so maybe he's not even going to show up..."
Felipe looked down at Jessica. "Have you changed your shampoo?" he asked. "Your hair... It smells a bit different. I mean, not that I sniff your hair or anything. That would make me some kind of stalker freak," he added with a laugh. "Ok, so maybe I sniff it a little but I can't be blamed for that. It smells so... nice." He narrowed his eyes slightly. "You're not going to hit me... right?" he asked with a teasing glint in his dark eyes. "Even if you do I can't promise I won't sniff it again."
If he was trying to lift the mood then Felipe prayed he was succeeding. He had a feeling the mention of Patch and Evan hadn't done much in that regard - other than the opposite.

Let him handle it? It wasn't Felipe's fight to begin with, and it certainly wasn't his to finish! Opening her mouth to say something along those lines, Jess was forestalled by the tightening of his arm around her waist and the suggestion that maybe he wanted to look out for her.
It was a strange and confusing gamut of emotions that assaulted the girl in that and the following moments. Glee that someone wanted to look out for her. Annoyance that someone wanted to look out for her. Giddiness that he'd tightened his arm. Fear that he'd tightened his arm. Guilt over still not having told him everything, but it never seemed like an appropriate time to do so. Contentedness over his companionship and (so far) enduring fledgling friendship.
She had to say something though!
“Oh.”
That's it?! Jess admonished herself mentally. [/i]That's the best I could come up with?[/i]Oh God I'm so lame tonight! UGH!
Hair? Her head snapped around to study Felipe's face a little wrinkle forming between her eyebrows as she tried to figure him out. No, she'd understood what he'd said, but this wasn't what they talked about.
Ok, so most of what they talked about was fairly superficial. What was going on in class, why her parents were idiots, what was wrong, the movies they'd go see... Still he knew more about her than anyone else at the schools.
And just like that Patch was shifted from the front of her mind to the back.
“I won't punch you... maybe pinch,” which she did lightly, “but not punch. The store didn't have my usual shampoo so I had to get something else. The brand's Willow Tree or something like that.” A strange wave of embarrassment lodged itself in her throat. Did he not like it?
“Do you always go around sniffing girls hair?” The question was meant to be joking and the tone did come across that way. Jess just hoped her cheeks weren't burning the way she thought they might be.
“Anyway!” Quick! Change the subject back to him! “How do you wanna do this hustle? Just general confusion over the rules of the game and what not?” Not that she knew how to bowl and was probably going to make a huge idiot out of herself. But hey, maybe she wouldn't gutter.

After his run in with his two Irish friends, glad he had more people here to take his side and hopefully help him out with the growing situation he could see with Brittany and Hannah, Evan started to make his way over to the next two people that he saw. This wasn’t meant to happen, the whole tension thing, it wasn’t in his plans! Bowling, and the accompanying pigging out, was meant to be fun! He wasn’t meant to spend it nervous that something was going to happen. No, that wasn’t good, bring back the fun!
And with this attitude in mind, he approached the two new people, well, their backs anyway, sliding himself in between the two of them, moving an arm around each of their shoulders. He turned to the guy first, grinning cheerily, glad he was good with names and remembering people. “Hey, Felipe! I’m Evan! Glad you could make it! You too....” he turned to the girl on the other side, and within half a second of laying eyes on her, jerked his arms away from both, distancing himself. So much for fun and not tension.
“Um, hi Jess.” he greeted, chuckling a little nervously. He really didn’t need to get into a fight with her again. Especially one that just involved him getting beat up. Still, she hadn’t tried hitting him yet, which had to be a good sign. Maybe she wouldn’t now, not when she was with Felipe. Maybe this was a date. He hoped it was, Jess wouldn’t get into a fight when she was on a date. Hopefully. “Uh, glad you could come too. Our lanes are down the end. Ok, have fun, talk to you later.” he rushed, taking off. He really didn’t feel like sticking around.

Patch had attempted to call Evan to warn him about Jessica, but his friend had failed to pick up, so he'd hung up without leaving a message. He spent the hours leading up to bowling frantically debating with himself. If Evan wasn't answering his phone then there was no way to tell if he knew Jessica was making an appearance, so he was going to attend and get murdered. And Patch couldn't really let his best friend become a victim of psycho chick, which meant he had to attend, also. Of course, he was probably going to get murdered himself in the process, but maybe he could distract Jessica so Evan could escape.
In the end he took his skateboard over to the bowling alley, trepidation growing as he drew closer to his destination. He should have written a note for his parents and Nick, but it was too late now. He arrived at the bowling alley drenched, but he wasn't concerned with catching anything -- he wasn't going to survive long enough for that to be a problem.
He stalked through the bowling alley, surprised to see people in costumes. Nobody had mentioned anything about costumes. Maybe there was some sort of party going on, someone's birthday or something? But then his gaze fell upon three people who were not in costumes -- and one of those people was Jessica Pruitte. The other two were Felipe, who hadn't taken his hint about the girl's sanity to heart, and Evan, who was wisely fleeing. "Uhhhh. Hi, Felipe. It's umm nice to see you umm you made it." He greeted the Brazilian, scooting backwards after Evan so he could both run and keep an eye on the girl at the same time.

Felipe had been about to answer Jessica's hustling question when a boy joined them, draping his arms around both his and Jessica's shoulders.
Evan.
He seemed friendly enough and as he was also embracing Jessica he didn't seem to be avoiding contact. Had Patch misunderstood? Maybe there wasn't a problem after all.
Evan just as quickly backed off, though.
"Hi Evan," Felipe replied with a friendly smile. Might as well try and keep the peace... Just in case all hell broke loose.
And then Patch arrived, coming over to say hello. "Glad you could come also, Patch," he replied and he frowned when both boys scurrried away as fast as they could, all the time maintaining what seemed to be a wary eye on Jessica. Felipe still wasn't sure if Patch was interested in Jessica and if that was what had been behind their somewhat weird chat yesterday.
"They don't seem so bad," he said to Jessica with a crooked grin. "I can't see there being any trouble but if you like we can just stay well clear of their lane."
He dropped one arm around Jessica's shoulders. "So what happened between you and them?" he asked. Curiosity was finally getting the better of him, it seemed.

She should be given a medal for not ripping Evan's arm off when she realized who'd come between her and Felipe. Not only that but dared touch her. It was different for Fel. Not that the teen could explain why it was different for the boy, but it was! Every ounce of her self control kept her from punching him square in that smug-house-burning nose of his.
Either it was the look of a storm worthy of hurricane category 5 status on her face, or.... no, no, it had to be the look on her face and the sound of teeth grinding that sent Evan running off, and then Patch. Both of them were here?!
Hands balled into fists at her side as she glared daggers at both of their retreating forms. He'd dared to touch her. To wrap his arm around her shoulders and act all friendly. Well fuck him!
"They don't seem so bad," he said to Jessica with a crooked grin. "I can't see there being any trouble but if you like we can just stay well clear of their lane."
Had he really just said that?! Shooting Felipe a look that spoke volumes about how “bad” they were, Jess swallowed hard. This was going to be one hell of a dat- day. One hell of a day. Outing. Get-together-with-friend. Date. Who was she kidding? When Fel draped his arm around her shoulders in place of Evan he found tight, tense muscle. Really she was trying to breathe. To let it go.
"So what happened between you and them?" he asked.
How much could she say? Aw hell. “Before my parents showed up,” voice tight with repressed anger Jessica began to explain, “I had a house I'd bought under an assumed name. They burned it down, filmed it, and put it up on youtube to music. THAT'S how bad they are. THAT'S what they do for fun. They sent me a friggin' cat collar as an apology.” The last word came out with so much poison Jess was even startled by it. So this is what hate felt like. And what the hell? Had she really just told Felipe the actual truth of the story? Crap. What was it about him that pulled truth out of her like that, it wasn't fair! What happened to all her walls, all her protections, that prickly exterior that kept people at bay?
