There were many good reasons that Patch did not want to get into a fight with JJ. For one thing, that would make their friendship very awkward. For another, his parents would ground him again. But worse than broken friendships, worse even than grounding, was the probability that the school would probably not take kindly to a second fight, even if he did insist that the one with Jessica had not been a proper fight because he hadn't actually done any fighting, and then he would get benched for the whole rest of the season.
"Oh, yeah, I'm sorry, silly me, my dad's collection wouldn't have anything you listen to," He sighed in mock defeat, "I'd have to borrow from my granddad, and since he lives two hours away, that's not gonna happen by tonight."
Evan really killed the mood for bickering, though, but he managed to be so hilariously arrogant, a trait that Patch knew was far from characteristic with Evan even if he did think his friend really did have great taste, that the brunette couldn't help but double over with laughter, "Point conceded. You win, you have better taste than either of us....especially the pop princess here." He elbowed Mallory in the side. So maybe his desire to tease her hadn't stayed dead for very long.
"Pffft, who needs will power?" He scoffed at the need for any such thing. He could definitely understand the desire for junk food and chocolate, but in order to pull this particular prank off, they would just have to sacrifice a delicious baked good. "We'll blow it up, and if any of it's left, then we'll eat it. Unless we just can't bear to blow up a chocolate goody, you think we could get away with an exploding fruit cake?"

Had Mal know the idea of a fight with JJ crossed Patch's mind she would have busted a gut laughing. She really had been joking. Patch and her....dating....in love...it was almost too good not to laugh at. They could barely see eye to eye on what constituted great music. How could she date some seriously lacking in musical taste. Never. But a fight between JJ and Patch would be funny....then again this though never crossed Mal's mind since she had no idea what Patch was thinking.
"That the best come back you got. Your granddaddy has the same musical taste I do. Makes me wonder if you were adopted." She snorted. Mal looked at Evan, "quite full of yourself aren't you Evan. No wonder Brit likes you." She laughed, "fine I will admit you have excellent musical taste Evan. At least better then DJ fluff." She nudged Patch back.
Nothing Evan did would stop the constant bantering between the two, but he did a good job of pausing it, "will power? You have better willpower then me. The moment I see a chocolate cakes its mine." She laughed, "I think was should make the cake a non delicious one." She had to agree with Patch on the fruit cake, "But then again just think of how hard it is to get a chocolate stain out of expensive clothes. We will make some dry cleaner very happy." Mal smiled, "and this is why I just film the stunts. I leave the will power up to the both of you."

“See, really people, it wasn’t that hard to admit to my greatness now, was it?”Evan laughed, nudging Patch once again, before winking at Mal. “Everything is a lot easier when you see that I am undisputedly the most awesomest. Nothing against the two of you.” he quickly cleared up. “Consider yourselves the second awesomest. No, actually, third. Sorry, but girlfriend’s gotta go first. Yeah, I know, I’m whipped.” he laughed. “But, come on, she’s cute, funny and in a band! Seriously.” he smiled, thinking that explained things. Of course, there was much, much more to Brittany than that, but Evan wasn’t about to go all gushy about her, in front of his friends anyway. They didn’t need to see that.
Patch and Mal still found it necessary to tease each other, which Evan was glad about. He knew nothing could ever make them stop, and it was pretty funny. He could spend all day watching them bicker, free entertainment was always good. “No, no fruit cake. I don’t care if fruit is in the name, it’s not cake. Proper cake doesn’t have anything healthy in it.” he explained. “Though, on the other hand, blowing some up does sound fun. But, nah, you’re right, chocolate leaves better stains.”
Eating his last bite of food, grimacing as he did, he quickly washed away the taste with the rest of his coke. “You know, that wasn’t actually too bad this time. I think they’re improving.” he joked. “Ok, looks like we’ve got it planned folks. Exploding chocolate cake it is.”
