Rosalie decided to hook the dogs up on their leashes. It was a nice night for a walk and with all those dogs she knows she is safe. She changed her clothes before telling her parents she would be back soon and headed out with the dogs. She smiled as they began a nice fast pace trot. They could keep her moving at a good pace, she was glad she had on a good pair of sneakers. With a smile she moved at their pace, so glad they knew not to get tangled up in each others leashes.
Rosalie was walking down the street listening to her Ipod as she walked along. She saw someone up ahead and tried to get the dogs around them without any problems but the dog accidently got the leash around their legs. "Oh I am so sorry" she said to him. "I tried to get him around him. Just stand still a moment." In about 30 second the dog was free and she apologized again to him and was off.
She decided to walk along the boardwalk. She was keeping a eye on the dogs when it took her a mintue to hear someone say her name. She turned to her right and smiled at the person. "Hey."

Ashley had been out for most of the evening, he had been invited to a centre where young families could go to meet new people in similar situations. He thought that Alex may have killed him if she had known that he was there with Kai on his own and not with her. Now as he was pushing his son's buggy through the streets, he knew that said boy was sleeping in the buggy and he felt lucky that said boy was not a light sleeper. He knew he could put him down as he was when he got home. He was wet and regretting that he didn't either bring a coat or take his car with them.
It would have looked out of place he thought, most of the people at the centre had been in the same circumstances as his own if not worse and none of them had driven to the centre at least none of them had driven themselves. He walked through the parking humming tunelessly hoping that the rain would stay away just long enough for him to get back to the house. It wasn't far to go now, and he didn't want to get a second soaking.
It didn't take long for him to spot a familiar figure as he walked down the road a soft snort from below had him peek at his son and smiled as the boy was currently sucking his thumb.
"Thank god for getting rid of the damn dumby." Ashley muttered smiling, he forgot that his little boy was just two at times. He had managed to get rid of several things most two year olds would not let go of without complaint.
When he was close enough not to shout to be heard by said girl he called to her. "Hey Rosalie." he called to her giving the dogs a wide bearth as to not disturb Kai. "Great weather to be walking a dog in." he said to her with a smile.

Rosalie pulled up the hood of her hoodie. "They love the rain" she laughed. And she knew some girls would be worried about being int he rain and the messed up hair and stuff she was just not that girl. She peeked over at Kai and saw he was asleep. "I see the little cutie is fast asleep." Kia was the sweetest little boy that stole your heart, "I am suprised to see the two of you out in the rain. What did you get into this evening?" She was glad to see the dogs were going to use the rest room, so that means no accidents. But it would take sometime to dry them off enough to leave the kitchen when they got home.
Ashley was a nice a guy and Rosalie did enjoy talking to him. She saw a cafe that had a patio that was covered. "Want to go sit?I know they won't mind the dogs as long as we stay outside" she said to him. "Plus I am a bit hungry and thirsty. So what do you say my treat?" she asked him with a smile on her face. The one dog barked as they began laying next to each other. "And it seems the fat ones are tired" she laughed as she begn walking next to Ashley.
"How have you been? it has been a bit since we talked." Things are so busy for everyone it is hard to talk to someone everyday.

Ashley smiled lopsidedly, "Believe it or not it wasn't raining when we left, theirs a group that meets about a mile from here for young families. Bring along the kids so they can meet new people that sort of thing, talk out any troubles you might have, or just see people you don't see every day. I some times go, when I have the chance and training doesn't get in the way, most of the guys in the meeting are older than me, but their are a few younger. Kai's the eldest but he has a couple of friends a little younger than him." Ashley said to her.
"Sitting down would be good, he is getting to big for the buggy which means either a new one or just letting him walk around like he keeps asking to be let do." Ashley said to her. "Um food is probably a good idea, the sandwiches at the hall I just came from were pretty disgusting." Ashley said to her with a smile. "Lets find a place with a bit of cover though, I don't know about you but getting a wet ass to go with everything else doesn't make me warm and fuzzy." Ashley added.
When asked about what he had been doing lately, he smiled it was nice just to have someone else to chat to, not that he had a lot of things to say mind you but still. "I came into a bit of money recently, so I've been trying to get things that we were in need of in the house. Its been a relief not to actually have to worry about money for once, it means I've been able to spoil Kai a little lately." Ashley said all of which was true, what with the money that Alex's mother had given him for her grandson, he would be set pretty much for life and still be able to set up a healthy trust fund for Kai. Life was definitely looking up for him. "In general life is looking good for me right now, it seems like I've turned a corner on my bad luck. What about you? I'm guessing you lead a more exciting life than I do." he asked her.

"It is good they have those kind of groups" Rosalie said as they headed twoard the cafe. "I am sure that it does help you have others to talk to even if some of the men are older." She found a table on the patio to the side and it was dry so that was good and the water was not getting into where they are. She had the dogs lay to the side. It was so cute they huddled up together while they fell asleep. They look like this huge pile of dogs this way, and they were not in people's way where they were. "And does he have a younger woman yet?" she asked teasingly as she crossed her legs.
She smiled at the waiter when he came over and ordered a hot chocolate and let him order his drink. "Kai is growing up though, wanting to walk and be independent. I have seen some parents have kids on the back pack with the leash attached to it, and they do look cute on the boy or girl. Of course it also can control how far they get from you so that is always a plus" she said to him. She did not know what it was like to have a child but she does want children when she get married, a house full of kids and animals, that is her dream.
"A wet ass is not my idea of a good time either" she said and laughed. "It is good you got the money to get what you need" she told him honestly. "And there is nothing wrong with some spoiling. I know you will not let him grow into a brat like some peopel turn him into. You do the good kind of spoiling" she said. The waiter was bringing back their drinks and she took a sip of her hot chocoloate. "Nothing like a hot chocolate when it is raining." She listened to him talk about what he has been up to and she was so glad things were great for him. "My life is not exciting" she laughed. "I go to school cheerleading. Have my social events which is part of being in my family and of course the animals. I love my animals" she smiled softly at her dogs. "And we have recently completed and opened a sanctuary for large dogs and cats, and they can also be adopted but I am already attached and want to keep them there" she laughed. "You should bring by Kia one time, they cats, and the large dogs are nice."

Ashley grinned, "I was fourteen when he was born, their is nothing more terrifying than my son having a girlfriend until his at least twenty four. By the time his out of the house I'll be 32, I think your meant to be older when your child leaves the home as an adult for the first time." Ashley said to her. "I know that every day he does something different, we can never get him to be quiet for five minutes when his awake. Well when I say we I mean me, I'm not sure what he is like with Alex and the whole situation with Greg and Alex is probably going to complicate matters." Ashley said with a smile.
When she told him about the animal shelter, he was rather glad that Kai was asleep in his buggy, the idea of having pets for him was a daunting one at that. He knew his son would do what he could to talk him into getting him some kind of pet, maybe a cat wouldn't be so bad as they could keep themselves entertained during the day.
"If I took him to the sanctuary he would seriously want to take all the animals home with him, not that having a pet at the house would be bad... but none of us are home during the day most of the time so keeping pets besides goldfish isn't really fair." he said to Rosalie. "But it sounds like your family is doing very good work, someone has to do it after all. Me I'm just starting to get my life back on track, with his mom back in the picture and taking an interest I can do more things besides watching TV playing football and going to school. Its nice to have more options beyond the usual." Ashley said to her.

"It doesn't matter what age you have a baby as long as your a good parent. And you Ashley are a excellent father. Kia is very lucky to have you as his daddy" Rosalie said honestly and sincerly to him. "He does sound like a handful" she laughed and smiled. "Of course he would have me wrapped around his finger whenever he is around. He already does" she smiled at him. "Ah yes talking and constantly moving signs they are growing up so quick. Soon he will be ready for school and I am sure you will be nervous about that" she said to him. "Greg seems like a nice guy so that is a plus" she said. "As long as he respects your the father, and you get final say things should be okay. I mean I don't know Alex but I don't think you would be with a selfish person that disregarded your feelings and that you are his father" she said to him.
The waiter came back and she put in her food order for a nice big bowl of tomato soup with cheese shredded on top of it. She let Ashley put in his order before continuing the conversation. "You can bring him by whenever, someone is always there. If not me or my parents then volunteers" she explained to him. "I was always taught to help others both human and animals. And as you can tell I have a speical place for animals. I have three cats at home along with those for big boys and girls, those are the ones we personally own that are not part of the sanctuary" she said and looked at the dogs still sleeping. "It is good that you can do more, that your family can help and with Alex back in the picture" she said happy for her friend. "What do you want to start doing now that yo will have more time?"

Ashley smiled, "Greg is a good guy, I don't have much to do with him mainly because we don't move in the same circles but he seems to have a good heart and thats what counts. Plus I don't get to make choices for Alex, I decided not to chase her when she came back to town. If we got back together and it didn't work it would hurt Kai, and he is always my first priority. I have full custody of Kai, we haven't signed joint custody papers and to be honest I don't trust her or that family. She walked out once for her family and no matter how much I try I can't forgive that, she missed two years of his life the first two years of his life. Its going to take a lot more than just simple gestures for me to trust her again, every time he goes with her part of me worries that she'll take him." Ashley admitted revealing some of the deep seated fears he had about Alex not to mention her father.
He nodded when Rosalie brought up the sanctuary and taking Kai for a visit, it would be something that they could do together one weekend. "Definitely have to bring him buy, it sounds like your family is doing good work for creatures that need it more than the rest of us do." Ashley said to her.
"You know I seriously don't know what I am going to do with my time now that I have a little more of it, you seriously dont stop worrying about them when their not in your line of sight. When he was born it took me two weeks, just to allow someone to babysit him so I could get some fresh air. All the crap that's happened in our lives since he was born, he isn't turning out so bad." Ashley said to her. "I may have screwed my life up royally, but his my pride and joy, and even though I do say so myself its not hard to see why." Ashley said as he bent over to straighten the lose blanket and tucking it in a bit more.

Rosalie listened to him and she instictivly and laid a hand over his. "I get where you are coming from. I would be the same way" she said honestly. "She does need to prove herself to you, she has a lot to make up for. You are nicer then some guys because most would not even let her back in the child life for just not being around for the first two years of his life. I do not know how you can pick anyone over a child" she said honestly. "He is a lucky guy cause he has you. You have been their from the beginng, he is where he is because of you. Does her family see him?" she asked. IF they did not she did look on them with any respect, with Kai being their grandson. "She can't take him without consequences. And I would wait a nice long while to change any custoday agreement" she said honestly.
"Just wait till you see the varitey we have so far. The bigger dogs are easy to get since they are harder to get adopted. Many people don't have the space or just plain don't want a big dog. As you can tell I love them" she laughed as one of the dogs let out a small snore. "You did not screw up your life Ashley you just had a son. You are smart, still going to school, getting your education, do your sports, and are a father. You balance all that perfectly, most grown men can not even do anything like that." Her heart always melted when she saw Ashley do little stuff like adjust the blanket or kiss the top of his sons head. "Do you know you melt hearts when you are such a doting father. Women find men like that attractive" she said honestly. "It shows what a genuine nice and kind and loving man you are. And men like you are a rare breed" she complimented him.

Ashley gave her a look, "Her father is for want of a better word a complete bastard, he forced her back to England after Kai was born, her family has never laid eyes on him apart from her aunt who she lives with I think. I don't know what is going on with her, but she seems to be defying her father, which can never be good. His tried to buy me into forcing her back to England, something about the greater good of his daughter and his family. All its about is his own pride and reputation, I don't think his even factored in his own daughters happiness. It seems like his way or the high way, as for her mom I can't make heads or tails of her, she sent me check to help with Kai's upbringing, with the promise of more to come to ensure that his future is safe. It wasn't a small amount of money either, the thing I hate most is I couldn't say no. No matter how much pride demanded I do just that, I should have torn the damn thing up. But three million even for a middle class family is a life changing amount of money, but for a father who depends on hand outs its an offer you can't refuse." he said honestly.
"I'll bring him to the sanctuary definitely, if nothing else he can make funny noises and stroke the dogs and cats. We do a lot of the simple stuff, things you can do for less than ten dollars in LA, you'd be surprised how much you can do on a small budget. We still do that regardless of our status which I admit has changed, but you never forget your roots and I try to keep things in perspective." he said
He smiled brightly at her when she paid him a compliment about his treatment of Kai, "Someone needed to step up to the plate for him, my parents and I, it never crossed my mind not even once after he was born to put him up for adoption. It would have been easier sure, but I could never live with that. Even through the darkest days, when I was putting my home life before my school work and I was in danger of failing and being held back. It was easier to throw in the towel, but that would have made me no better than Alex and her family. We created the mess, it just seemed so wrong to palm it of to someone else. My parents offered to bring him up as there child, but that didn't sit right with me either. Two years later though I know I made the right choice, he gives me focus when I'm out on the field playing football or when I'm in class. I want the best for him, I want to make sure that he nerver has to go through half the stuff we did." Ashley said with a smile he was happy with his life and it was nice just to talk to someone who was almost a complete stranger.
