Colby sighed as he flipped through the thirty channels the hospital offered. Nothing on but gameshows, soap operas, talk shows having smack downs. That was the last thing he wanted to see, after last night. Despite what Cat had told him, he still felt like a failure. Quenten shouldn't have even gotten that close to her and the only reason he did was because his temper gotten the better of him.
The doctors said he was lucky not to have harder damage than what was done to his head. He felt the badage on his head, he felt like a mummy. At least they had taken the damn IV out of his arm, he hated that most of all. He sat up on the side of the bed and slowly got up. They wanted him to try and walk to prevent getting bed sores.
He took a few steps to what was left of his clothes and reached into his pants pocket. The box was still there and smiled as he went back to the bed. A young nurse entered the room. "Hello mister Jergens, how are we doing today?" She had a sing songy sound to her voice.
"I feel like I was hit by a truck. How should I feel?" He muttered as he positioned himself.
"Well, if all looks good, you'll be going home soon," she said as she prepard to take his blood pressure. "Meantime there is someone who wants to see you."
"I'd rather be alone right now." He said holding onto the box while rolling up his sleeve.
"Oh I think you'll like her."
He cocked his head. "Her?" Had Cat come to see him?

"Yes a her unless you would rather a he but then you might not be telling me something then" Cat teased and she walked into the room. She felt guilty when she looked at him it was because of her that he was here, and hurt, and everything yesterday. If she did not come back this would not have happened. He would be okay and not hurt and in this dumb hosptial. She knew her face showed she did not get any sleep. After she was released this morning she went home and showered and changed her clothes. She wanted to not look so bad when she saw him. On the way over she picked up a stuffy tweety bird and tweety ballon, the bird said I love you and the ballon said get well soon.
"I got these for you" she held them up. "I saw them and automatically thought of you." Walking over to him she sat on the side of the bed and took his hand and smiled down at him softly and could not resist him. Leaning over she kissed him softly on the lips. "When are you getting out of here? I talked to my aunt and Uncle I made them stay on the business trip. I figure it will be fin with him behind bars." She touched his face and his head and felt tears rush into her eyes. "I am sorry you got hurt because of me" she looked at her lap after she put the stuffed tweety and ballon on the table by the bed.

Colby broke into a huge smile hearing Cat's voice. "Hey Kitten," he patted a spot on the bed for her. "You are a site for sore eyes." He saw the look on her face, it had to be hard for her to be home alone after what happened, still she had a brave face on.
Colby laughed. "I remind you of a little yellow bird with a speech impediment?" He closed his eyes and enjoyed Cat's kiss. "Ohhh the puddy tat gave me a kiss." He teased. "The nurse says I should be able to go today as soon as I get the all clear from the doctor, the first time they told me was at about seven this morning and I'm still waiting." He sighed, he wanted out, he wanted to do everything they had planned for the night before.
He rubbed her back. "Shh baby shh, don't cry. You had no control over what happened. Quenten just fights dirty, I didn't see the rock till he clonked me with it but no real damage was done." He reached over to the nightstand near the bed and grabbed the undamaged box. "This was for last night but I think this would cheer you up now." He put the box in her hand. "Cat Corinthos, I love you with all my heart."

Catalina listened to him as he spoke. She wiped away a tear and looked at him. "I am suprised your parents are not here same as your brother and sister." She knew how close they were as a family. "I am sure they blame me for this" she chewed her bottom lip. "I am a mess that gets their son hurt" she said. Looking down she drew circles on the top of his hand with her fingernail tip. She wanted to be like by the family still because of how much loved Colby, she was always close to them. "I got out this morning and came back to see you" she said to him.
When he handed her a box she looked up at him. "Colby" she breathed out. Taking the box from his hand she opened it slowly. "It is beautiful" she breathed out. "I love it" she told him honestly. She took the ring out and looked at it and smiled when she saw their initals. "Put it on me" she said and put her arm out so he could put it on her hand. "It is perfect" she said again. "It is definatly us, always together. Two become one" she looked into his eyes. "I love you Colby Jergens, I always did and always will" she kissed him softly on the lips her one hand pressed softly against his cheek.

"Mom was here over night with me, she went home to rest they'll be coming later." It injured him to hear her talk about how she saw how others saw her. "They don't think that at all, you shush now. My family likes you Cat, they always have." He tried to be comforting as he could.
He grinned as she opened the box and caught her reaction. "No, your beautiful Cat, and no ring can change that." he said as he slid the ring onto her finger, it was a perfect fit. "I think this symbolizes our love for each other perfectly." He held her hand that was against his face and kissed her again and again each time a little more passioniate till there was someone at the door clearing their throats.
"*Ahem* not interrupting anything are we?"
Colby was embarrassed, it was his folks with his brother and sister. "Oh umm no umm just on time." His face went flush for a brief time. He heard the giggling behind his folks, "I know those giggles c'me here you two!" Bailey and Lance bound over to the bed.
"WHen are you coming home? Wanna play cards? Whats on TV?" The flood of questions started to flow.
"Hey you two, there is someone you forgot about." He indicated Cat with a nod.
"Oops sorry," Lance apologized. "Hi Cat."
Colby's mother, Sophia, pulled the two younger ones away. "So Cat did you get anything special from Colby for Valentine's Day?" Colby had told her of his plans until things had gotten ugly.

Catalina blushed as his brother and sister and parents came into the room. She pulled back so Bailey and Lance could get on the bed. Standing up she smiled shyly at his parents. "Hi Lance" she laughed. "It is okay he is just excite dto see his big brother who he adores and looks up to. Here you two get up on the bed" she grinned. Moving she went and stood by Colby's parents. "It is good to see you again Mr. and Mrs. Jergens. I wished it was under better curcumstances."
At least they were not glaring her blaming her that was a good sign. "Yeah he gave me this" she held up her hand so she could see the ring. "I was not able to give him his present yet but I improvsed" she said and pointed to the gifts. "I know him and tweety and they just said buy me when I saw them. Would you mind if I would come over and see Colby? I would understand not since what happened really was my fault" she said softly and looked down. She wanted to make sure all was okay with his parents before she came over.

"Us too Catalina." Herman replied putting a hand on her shoulder. "The main thing is that you two were injured more severly and that as--"
Sophia stopped him before he said more. "MOnster is locked away. Thank God the brother had some smarts to do what he did." He let out a rough sigh then crossed his arms over his chest. Not one to take violent action but something had to be done.
Sophia gasped looking at the ring. "Its beautiful! He wouldn't say what he bought but he had been saving for it and paid for it at one time." She wrapped an arm around Cat, "I think you found yourself a good man!" Of course Mom would say that, thats what they do!
"Everyone I want to say something." Colby announced. He got up and walked over to Cat, hanging onto the rail of the bed. His family knew what he was going to do, hence their sudden appearance. He got down on one knee.
"Cat, we've been through a lot together over the past few months and it broke my heart when you left and I don't want this to happen again." He started to shake. "And even though we're still in high school and have to wait till after graduation," he took a deep breath and said the magical words. "Catalina Corinthos, would you marry me?"

Catalina was talking to his parents and it made her feel so good that they were accepting of her still. They were one of a kind parents not freaking out blaming it all on her which is really is her fault. Coming back and getting back with Colby set Quenten off. But not matter what she can not regret it, something is telling her no regrets. "He always knows the kind of jewelry I like, simple and beautiful. Nothing big and flashy for me" she smiled. She was not one that liked to draw attention to herself anymore not since that night two years ago. She got more quiet and more don't notice me please attitude.
Watching Colby get up she got concerened. "Be careful" she warned him. She felt like she ahd to watch out for him after what Quenten did to him because of her. When he asked the question she gasped and put a hand up to her mouth. Knowing she wanted married to him one day was completely different then him actually asking. "Colby" she whispered. Walking up to him she touched his face. "Yes yes a thousand times yes" she kissed him softly on the lips.

There was an audible sniff from Soph, her baby was growing up and he had the girl of his dreams. "C'mon you three, lets let the happy couple have their time," his father suggested. "I'll get you something to eat at the cafeteria." He gave Colby a wink as they three headed out, the kids arguing over if there was pizza today.
Colby rose to his feet, a grin from ear to ear pasted on his face. "I propose marriage and this is the kiss I get?" he teased Cat, as the small group left the room.
He wrapped his arms around her tenderly and pulled her in. "Now this is a kiss." He planted his lips onto her's, even though his head was starting to ache. He slowly broke the kiss off, then gently held her chin in his hands. "You are the most beautiful girl in the world misses Catalina Jerge--" he clutched his head. "AHHHHH bed...bed..." the pain was kicking in and hard. His vision blurred slightly. "Help me please, Cat." He held her hand tightly, not wanting to lose track of her. "Help me to the bed please and call the nurse, I'm in major need of pain killers!"

Catalina held tight to him. She helped him to the bed and pressed the call button for the nurse, the whole time she did not let go of his hand. "I am here they will be here in a few mintues baby" she soothed and stroked his forehead. "I love you" she kissed him on his forhead.
When the nurse came in she gave him some pain killers. "They will be taking effect any moment" she said. With a last smile she left the room quietly.
Catalina sat on the bed by him and held his hand. "How are you feeling now? The pain killers helping?" When he looked better she laid down next to him and laid her head on his on his chest. "I have got to say I can not wait to share your last name. One day I will be Mrs. Catalina Jergens. I say we get married the weekend after we graduate from high school." Knowing she did not want to wait to start her life with him was something that she knew he felt the same way about. "I am sure your mother and my aunt will be making wedding plans till we graduate" she laughed and smiled.
Her mind pictured her and Colby getting married on the beach, her in a long flowly white gown and white flip flops and colby in a pair of white cotton beach pants and a unbottoned white shirt and white flip flops. The crowd would not be big but family and their good friends only and a party that would last way into the night. It would be small and simple and intimate and perfect just like them.
