Mike was doing okay. He had not been beat in a day, so that was good. Maybe now he would have a chance to heal first. Easier said then done. Mike was trying to stay off the drugs. This was probably the longest he had gone without needing his stomach pumped. Three weeks was a record for Mike. Usually it was once a week. However, since the shooting and him promising to stay off drugs, it was kind of helping, but Mike was slowly slipping back. Right now his drug of choice was pain killers. Although he knew that would only lead to harder drugs eventually.
So Mike was going back down a familiar path that led to nothing but destruction. He had been doing so good. He went through withdrawal and managed to stay off for like a week, until he decided he could not take the pain in his arm and got pain killers. Although that was just an excuse. In reality he could not handle the emotional pain, of getting beaten and berated. Now he took them. Not regularly, but enough. Mike was never a hard core addict, but an addict was still an addict. He lost his ex because of it. Mike knew that. He knew the danger. But it was hard and tempting. So Mike left the painkillers at home today. He found an NA meeting, but had no will to want to go. Mike was lonely. Sure he could go back to Kiki and his friends, but that was the world Mike was trying to get away from. When he was in that world he was a bad guy. He was an asshole, and a horrible friend to anyone. He only cared about himself and what he could do to please himself. That was not good. Mike needed to face reality, which was easier said then done.
He needed to take control back, cause that's what was slowly slipping through his grasp. Mike hated to lose control, but he had been losing it for years. It was hard when you lived your life in pain. However, today was a good day. Not so much pain, which was a plus, no one had bothered him, another plus. So Mike was good. He was in a good mood. He decided to avoid lunch in the cafeteria. Instead he choose to sit outside on top of a bench under a big oak tree. Mike had no idea what was headed his way. He had no clue about Evan or his matchmaking plans. IF he did he might run and hide. The idea of matchmaking scared Mike. Luckily that was not on his mind. Instead, Mike was sitting and reading. He was actually attempting to be studious, although the novel had nothing to do with school. He was reading Gulliver's Travels. Mike had no idea he was about to be bombarded by not one but three people, until it was too late.
They literally came out of no where. As if they just materialized in thin air. He looked and around."Ummmm am I in trouble or something, cause if so I didn' do it?" Mike began to laugh because he knew Evan, Kian and Connor were mad at m. Yet he was curious to know what they wanted.

Kian had met Connor and Evan at the cafeteria where they spent a while looking for Mike. Then someone mentioned they saw him heading up the hill. They immediately headed outside and for the old oak which was Mike's most likely destination.
It was gratifying when a few minutes later they crested the hill and saw their quarry sitting on the bench straight ahead. "Hey Mike!" Kian said as they reached him. The bench wasn't big enough for four of them so he lowered himself to sitting and lounged on the warm grass in apparent contentment. He wanted to blurt it all out, but this really was Evan's ball game. "You got some time for us?" he asked instead and pulled Connor down beside him, doing his best not to incite any rolling around activities.

“Nah, you’re not in trouble. But if you did something that could mean you getting in trouble, I’m gonna be annoyed. You could have at least cut me in on the fun.” Evan smirked. While Kian and Connor seemed to manage to sit down with some grace, he wasn’t the same, flopping down loudly on Mike’s other side. It was only now he realised he didn’t have any food, and like always, he was hungry. But the excitement of being Cupid made him forget about food briefly, an achievement very few other subjects achieved.
“Course he’s got time for us! We’re mad fun!” he chuckled, answering Kian’s question before Mike got the chance. And being the curious sort he was, he reached over to pry the book from his friend’s hands. “Whatcha reading?” he mused, before checking out the book anyway, quickly flipping through the pages. “Not enough pictures for me.” he grinned, handing it back over with the page Mike was up still open.
Moving so that he was now spread out on the grass, he looked up at Mike, the way his smile just kept getting bigger maybe a warning to him. “Was going to ask if you’re busy tomorrow and wanted to go to the jam session we’re all going to, but nah. I’m telling you, tomorrow afternoon you’re going.” Laughing, he started to absently pick out blades of grass.
“Me, Taki and Dare are all gonna meet up at Dare’s place and just jam, and we’ve got a heap of people coming to hang to, it’s going to be fun. So you’ve gotta come. And if you don’t, I’ll just bug you.”

Letting himself get pulled down to the ground by his boyfriend, Connor waved briefly to Mike in greeting, but he didn’t have a chance to get a word in before Evan started. Which was fine by him, he was more than happy to sit and watch quietly. Something told him this was going to be amusing, especially if / when Mike found out the reasoning behind Evan’s invitation. And he hoped for Dare’s sake, Mike would still be up for it.
And seeing how he got to snuggle with Kian in the meantime, he was more than happy. Intertwining his fingers with his boyfriends, he stretched his legs out, watching the scene play out in front of him. And wondering where Evan got his seemingly endless energy from. Just watching him was tiring sometimes.
When there was a moment Evan stopped talking, to take a breath, Connor chimed in, trying to offer more incentive for Mike to come. “Yeah, Kian and I will be going, maybe Brittany, Evan’s still got to talk Patch into...” “Tell Patch to go!” Evan interrupted with a laugh. Laughing himself, Connor grinned at Mike. “And a few others at least, there’ll be a small army it seems. So it’ll be fun.”

Mike just laughed at Evan's energy as well. He had no idea how he could be so happy when inside school. It was unbelievable. Yet something told Mike Evan was exacted for a reason. He just had no idea why. Mike looked at Connor and gave him a way back and nodded to Kian, "Hey guys, do I need to be worried, about why he is way to happy?" Mike asked a small laugh followed his questions.
"A jam session huh....." The names sounded familiar. He defiantly knew Brittany, Patch and Mike had heard of Taki, but the name Dare was lost on him. "Is this your way of telling me to go on a date with you Evan, cause I could have sworn you had a girlfriend, but if you want to swing my way...I might not complain, but just so you know, I like my guys to have hair I can play with so you might need to grow your hair out..." Mike tried as hard as he could to keep a straight face, but by god just the idea of the suggestion sent Mike rolling with laughter. Mike needed a good laugh.
He needed this. A chance to not be the possessive, control freak, bastard that was on drugs. He needed to show he was not all bad, although his past behavior was not a good example. "Sorry man I could not resist. I had to see the look on your face." He just could not help messing with Evan. It was fun.
"Sure I will be there...just tell me when and where...you said it's at Dare's place...never met him...but I like meeting new people soo....count me in." Besides it gave him the chance to get out of the house, which he badly needed.

Kian did his best, but the laughter welled up deep from within him and burst out of him in joyous mirth. Not only was the thought of Mike and Evan in a relationship amazingly outrageous, but it was so close to their intent, but misdirected that it tickled him on so many levels.
Kian buried his face in Connor's stomach and shook with the laughter. "Oh my god... you and Evan... even Patch might enjoy that," he burst out, tickling Connor incidentally and he wriggled in delight.

It was hard to pull one over on Evan, seeing how he was so practiced at doing that to everyone else. But when Mike started going on about dating him, it took him a moment, a blank expression on his face all along, to realise his friend was just pulling his leg. And as soon as he realised, he started to laugh, moving to sit up.
“Good one.” he grinned, laughing more at Kian’s reaction to the thought. “Yeah, I do have a girlfriend, and you’re just lucky I do. Cause if I was single, seriously, you’d have no chance.” Evan teased, flexing his arms. “Just check out these guns. Nah, they’re not even guns. Canons, that’s what they are. And how do you know I like getting my hair played with?” he snorted. “Flattered and all, but I’ll stick with Brit.”
Going through his pockets, he started to pull everything out of them, which included a couple of paper clips, an arcade token, a candy wrapper, a whistle and the lid of a Coke bottle. But no paper, or no phone. “Left my phone in my locker.” he explained as he stuffed everything back into his pockets, “I’ll message you the address tonight, it’s all on tomorrow afternoon. If you’re really nice to me, I’ll let you be a back up dancer.”
If Mike didn’t know Dare, then he guessed Dare didn’t know Mike. Evan supposed that was good, like a clean slate. And he knew both of them, and they were both cool, and he liked them both, so logically, to him, that meant they would both like each other. “You’ll like Dare, he’s pretty mad.” he told Mike, smiling more than he need to at this sentence.

Evan and Mike...that was a pretty amusing, if pretty unlikely thought. If you ignored the fact that Evan was completely heterosexual, it still was an odd couple. Sure they made good friends, but the thought of Evan and Mike walking hand in hand down the street together, having romantic dinners, whispering sweet nothings to each, was more than enough to make Connor’s reaction to it all the same as his boyfriend’s.
He wasn’t overly ticklish, but Kian’s movements were just enough to make him keep laughing, Connor having to take a few deep breaths to settle down as his boyfriend did the same against him. With the thought now in his head, he started to run his fingers slowly through Kian’s hair. “You two together, yeah, I think you make a cute couple.”
It did seem that Evan’s match up might just work, if Mike had a thing for long hair. Dare’s hair was about the longest he’d ever seen on a guy, and he grinned down at Kian at this, sort of a secret grin, knowing his boyfriend would know exactly what he was thinking. “If you need a lift Mike, we can pick you up on our way over.”

Kian finally calmed down and snuggled with Connor rather enjoying the feel of his warm body as the sun beat down upon them both. "Oh there was something else I wanted to talk to you about. How would you like to be the caretaker on a houseboat when the owner can't be there. The guy is pretty easy to work for I've heard and it includes room and board. The only thing would be if he put to sea you might have to stay at his house in town while he was away.
"What do you think?" Kian asked, grinning over Connor's torso at Mike. "It would be a good chance for you to make a clean start." He really liked Mike, they had been friends since they were kids when they had all learned soccer together with Patch. He had been gone during the first few years of high school when Mike started having problems. He felt guilty about that, like he had failed his friend. Now he could make up for some of that, help him get out of the hole he had fallen into.

Mike could not help, but hold back a laugh as Evan flexed his muscles, "You call those canons. I say pistols at best." His said in a joking tone. See this is what Mike enjoyed. laughing, joking around. Not being depressed, mopey and everything in between. His old friends could be real downers, but they came with his cravings..the drugs..and with the drugs came the friends...what a conundrum for Mike. He had two sets of friends. One better then the other, but the drugs were....
Mike shook the thougths from his head and refocused on the three guys in front of him. "Thanks i will keep the cute couple comment in mind for next time Connor." Mike smiled as he put his book away. There was no way he was getting any reading done. Mike eyed Evan with that smile, "Is it just me or he way too happy about something.." Mike said to Kian and Connor. "Well if you like Dare, and you say I will like him, then I am sure I will like him..."
Mike knew nothing about dare so his next comment might seem strange to them but to him it was simply cause he did not know the older man, "I assume he is okay with homosexuality since he is friends with you both.." Mike was referring to Kian and Dare, "I only say that cause I don't know if you guys hear about what happened at the park..i guess you never know who will tolerate what." had Mike known dare was gay he would have smiled and said I like him already.
"A boat...really...like by myself..." Mike was shocked Kian would offer, "I..um..yeah man...hell yeah...umm just where would I stay when he needs the boat." Mike was too excited about the boat to consider who the owner might be, but the idea of being able to move out of the hell hole he called home was too tempting to pass up. Just the idea of not having to worry about flying fists make him hurt, but in a good way.
