Sandy went to the auditorium after school for a quick check up on her vocal chords. She didn't sound horrible but she needed to keep up her lessons if she wanted her own spot in the limelight.
She sat at the piano and took the sheet music from her bag. She could sort of play piano but mainly the chords and the treble clef notes so she could improvise. Now why her teacher though the song 'Valentine' would be an easy one to sing? Sure it didn't leave the upper alto range but it was no picnic!
She played the first chords and began singing. "If there were no words, no way to speak I would still hear you...". Everything seemed to flow naturally with the occasional slip up while changing chords. She had to remind herself, it was only practice.
As she continued, someone had overheard her singing and playing and crept in without her knowing. She was feeling good about herself as she wrapped things up. She marked areas that were trouble and would let her teacher know about them.
She sighed contentedly until someone started to clap for her efforts. She looked to see where it was coming from.

When school was finally done, Teddy rushed to the auditorium in hopes of getting his voice training. He just hoped it was empty. But as he approached the big hall, he could hear a piano playing and a faint hint of someone singing. Pouting, he walked towards the entrance and slipped inside to see who had taken up the space he had been waiting the whole day to occupy.
He had only been a Gould for a few months but he knew practically everyone in it mostly due to the fact that he was tormented every day by the popular kids. But this redhead, he's never seen her but she was singing Martina McBride's 'Valentine' and doing an amazing job of it. Sure to his trained ear there were some flaws to her voice but it was so minor that if anyone else listened to it, they wouldn't have missed anything.
The moment she was done, Teddy clapped and walked down the stairs to join her on the stage. "Teddy Patterson, you must be Silver. Or new. Either way, you were fabulous. Little hitches here and there but otherwise just amazing. Are you in theater, by the way? You sound like you're professionally trained. I'm professionally trained. You must have heard of Bethany Lauren. She's won about seven Tonys. She's my mom's best friend." Teddy shrugged and waved his hand as if to wave off the whole famous connection.
"Look at me prattling on. What's your name?" He smiled brightly, extending his hand to shake hers.

Sandy was over whelmed by the boy's carrying on. He was the flip side of how Levi was. Bubbly, complimenting, it was so very sweet! She tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear letting him finish up with his pep talk.
"Fabulous? You flatter me Teddy." Sandy replied blushing slightly. "I am in theater actually! I landed the role of Patty in the production of 'Grease' here. I had a choice since I go to Silver normally." She offered him her hand. "I'm Sandy Meyers, the real thespian in my family is my brother Greg." She smiled pleasantly. "I'm normally a dancer but I've been taking voice lessons for a few months now, I'm just wanting to come into my own."
She made a slight face. "The name sounds familiar but I have to admit I don't follow theater that closely. Doesn't mean I'm not willing to learn what I can about who's who."
She knew of the big stars Bernadette Peters, Kirsten Chenoweth, Anthony Rapp or any of the cast from 'Rent'. "But then I usually shyed away from anything having to do with celebs. There was enough when Greg was on tv."

"Oh honey, please you were really good." Teddy waved his hand as if to wave off her modesty. "That is a good role for you. You have the cuteness."
At the revelation that Greg Meyers had a younger sister made Teddy smile widely. "I have to admit I've never watched any of his shows but if you say he's better than you, I'm sure he's great." He slid next to her on the piano stool and played 'Once Upon a Dream' from Sleeping Beauty. "I've been trained by her since I was five. Almost got parts in two Broadway plays but I wasn't good enough." He admitted without shame. He was just disappointed he never trained hard enough to be considered good.
"I could always let you meet her. You could train with her if you want. She's brilliant." Teddy smiled brightly, humming to the song. "I'm sure you know this song...why don't you try singing it? It could help with loosening up your vocals for 'Valentine'."
"I can understand the whole being related to a famous person. I can't even go to the supermarket without bumping into someone who wants my mother's autograph." He shrugged before starting to sing a few bars of the song. "Let's try doing this. You can play the princess for now." He winked at her playfully.

"I'm just happy to be a part of the show. Normally I just stay in the chorus, not that I don't like leads, its that as a chorus member you can make your character as big and zany as you like." She tucked her hair behind her ears again.
"Granted I'm biased, I can't say anything bad about my brother." She laughed. "But still he'd been doing tv since he was five and just recently stepped away from it." She felt a prickle of goosebumps as he sat next to her, she really had no idea that he was gay. "I bet you were better than the ones who landed the parts."
She knew the song, after all it was sung by her favorite princess. "Oh I don't know, I might melt in her presence or something or worse I'd get totally hoarse!" She listened to him hum the song. "There's one small catch, its a tad high for me, so I usually drop an octave or at least thats how I was trained. No straining the voice that way."
"When were kids it wasn't so bad it was when I started middle school that I'd have girls wanting to be friends just to get close to him, it didn't help that I'd brag about being related to him." She giggled at the idea of her being the princess and began to sing the song.

Being in the chorus is okay especially since Teddy had the sort of voice that could carry throughout the whole line. But Teddy liked the spotlight. He just couldn't help it. There was too much of him to be passed around, he just can't stay out of the limelight.
Teddy smiled at how loyal Sandy was to her brother. Not that Teddy was jealous of his mother, far from it. He just wished people would stop calling him Doreen's son and start realizing that Teddy was his own person. Which was part of why he was so involved with theater.
Teddy giggled behind a hand when Sandy complimented him blindly. He was sure she was only pacifying him but he smiled anyway. "Well thank you," his back straightened and he gave a proud smile to the cute redhead. Again he laughed at Sandy's words. "You're adorable. She's like a mom you expect to bake cookies for you, which she does when she comes over to our place. Would you like to come over?" He tilted his head slightly to look at Sandy.
"Just keep your voice light. Doesn't really matter how high or low." He shrugged and continued playing, listening to Sandy speak. "Well, it's annoying being related to famous people but we have to make do with our own mediocrity if we don't have them to fall back on."
When she started singing, Teddy smiled. She was talented, it was obvious. It was raw...and unrefined but with a little bit of training, she could do wonders. "That's good, we sound good together." Teddy grinned and held his hand up for a high five.
