Syn was on her own. Dare was at some stupid park clean up thing and their dad was in Maryland or someplace else that was equally insipid. Syn nabbed a bottle of rum and spiked a bottle of Lemonade that was in the fridge. It was a really nice day so she dressed for the beach, putting on apair of cut off jeans over her dark purple bikini. Putting a towel, sunscreen and the bottle in a bag, she headed for the pier. She didn't know how to swim so it would be tanning only, but she had her mp3 player to keep her amused. The beach was crowded, but she found a spot and set out her things. She started by lying on her back as she had no one to put lotion on it yet.
Evan had a quiet afternoon ahead of him, his girl, his best mate and all his other friends busy. And a peaceful few hours at home was quite unnerving, so having nothing better to do, he decided to head to the beach. It was usually always crowded, which was perfect for him. And he was looking a little ghost like, so he figured a bit of sun wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
The sand was hot, so he did a funny little dance as he ran to a small patch of it that was currently empty, next to a girl who may or may have not looked familiar, he didn’t know. Throwing down his towel, he pulled his t-shirt over his head, leaving him only in bright blue board shorts as he flopped down. Singing ‘Highway To Hell’ under his breath, the last song that had been on the radio, he rummaged through the little bag he brought with him, grabbing out the latest issue of Empire.
Syn slit open one eye to see who had flopped down next to her. He was good looking in an emo kind of way and he was singing a song she happened to like, which was a plus in his favor. She turned onto her side and smiled at him as she took out her ear buds. "Good song... I'm Syn. You look kind of familiar, have we partied together before?" Syn knew the answer was no, as she hadn't gone to any parties in California yet, but it was a decent line. "Seeing as how we are just meeting, I hate to be a pain, but could you put lotion on my back. I tend to lobster real easily."
He jolted just a minute at first, emerged in an article about a rumored new Terminator movie. There was no way they would make a fourth one. He glanced over to the girl at his side, grinning wildly. He was always grinning wildly. “Awesome song. And I’m Evan.” he introduced himself. “Uh, don’t think so. Maybe you’ve seen me at my work? I work up at the movie theatre. Or maybe school? I go to Gould.” He couldn’t’ think of where else she might know him from. He wasn’t sure about the whole lotion thing, he wasn’t sure how girls worked, didn’t know what Brit would think of it. But it wasn’t anything to suss after all, so he figured it’ll be okay. “Sure thing.” he offered, holding out his hand for the lotion.
"Must be at Gould. I just started there," Syn said, handing him the lotion and then sitting up and turning her back to him. "You might know my brother... Dare Madison, he's been going there longer than I have. He's kinda small with long blonde hair. He's really into music." She tensed a little in anticipation of the lotion being cold on her warm skin.
"What kind of stuff are you into?" she asked curiously. His personality didn't seem to match his style. He was too cheerful and open to be emo. It was an interesting contrast.
“Your Dare’s sister?” Evan chuckled, perking up immediately. It was quite alright then, she was the sister of a friend after all. “I never knew he had a sister! He and I are friends. Me and another mate are going over to his, well, your house, real soon for a jam session. It’s gonna be sweet.”
He hesitated just a moment, pouring some lotion onto his fingers, before starting to rub it, very softly, over Syn’s back. “Well, let’s see, it’s a big list.” he grinned. “I love movies. My reading material may have given that away. And I love the drums. Hence the jam session. Like anything that makes noise. And, um, I like candy, does that count? Anything fun I’m up for.” he decided. “What about you?”
"Well, really I am his half-sister. Different mothers and I just came all away cross country to meet them. Maddog took me in so now we are a family," Syn said rolling her eyes which Evan couldn't see since she was facing away from him. "I like all those things too, though I play keyboards instead of drums. I will look forward to hearing you play drums. What's your favorite candy? I can try to make sure we have some for when you come. I like Snickers best myself," she informed him and opened her lemonade jug. She took a swig and shivered delicately as the tartness hit her tongue and her body reacted to the alcohol. "You want to share?" she asked holding it to her side so he could grab it if he wanted some.
“Wow, that’s some road trip. But that’s pretty cool, you both must love it, having a sibling now.” he decided. It would be weird though, having a sibling you never knew about pop up. “I like any candy. I’m an equal opportunity candy eater.” Evan laughed.
“Though Snickers rock. Anything with chocolate has to be the best.” Dare had to be pretty lucky though, his sister could have turned out to be a real bitch, like how Brit’s sister was. But instead, she seemed really nice. “Would like to hear you play too then. Maybe you could join in on the jam?”
He looked at the lemonade gratefully, it was pretty hot. Reaching over, he took it with thanks, taking a swig of it. And coughing immediately. “Warning would have been nice.” he teased. But it was hot, and he was thirsty, and it wasn’t like he hadn’t had alcohol before. So he took another sip, minus the coughing, handing the bottle back as he wondered just much of the lotion he had to rub on her back.
"Oh sorry, just to warn you, I rarely drink anything virgin," Syn admitted. "Did you get everywhere? You can stop if you have, though it feels really good. You can lotion me up anytime," she said, turning to give him a grin. She took the bottle back and drank some more. "I am not sure if Dare would like it if I joined you jamming. He doesn't really like me very much. He walked in on me in the bath and saw me naked. I guess he feels his gay eyes have been traumatized or something," she told Evan, skewing the story to make her look better.
At the offer, Evan gave Syn a somewhat shaky grin even as he moved his hands away. She was pretty cute, and if he wasn’t already taken, he might be interested. But he was taken, and his girl was incredible, and he wasn’t the cheating type. So his present company was making him a little nervous. She probably didn’t mean anything by it though, he told himself.
“Ah, I’m sure it’s a misunderstanding. Dare’s really friendly, maybe he’s just worried he’s really upset you?” he guessed, trying not to think about her naked. He had a girl; he had a girl, a very hot girl. “Maybe the jam session is just what you guys need to make up?” He moved to her side once more, grinning a bit wider, now confident he was making things up in his head. She was just being nice, is all.
Syn shrugged slightly. "Maybe... I hope so. It would be a shame to come all this way and never really get to know my family because of a stupid accident," she said softly, giving him a doe-eyed look through her dark lashes. Evan was cute and she wasn't used to going this long without friendly attention. She took another sip and passed him the bottle. "It's getting really warm out here. I don't know how you manage the summers."
“Yeah, would be a shame.” Evan agreed, momentarily grinning more dopily than even he was used to. He wasn’t any match for feminine wiles after all. “Um, well, I’ll play peacekeeper during the jam, it’ll be all good!” Taking the bottle, he took another, very long sip. “You get used to it. I love it. And this heat is nothing yet!” he grinned, trying to come up with a way to include the topic of Brittany. “Been meaning to get out here for ages with Brittany, my girlfriend.” he quickly added, just in case. “Hasn’t worked out yet. So nice here though.”
Syn's smile only wavered a moment. A girlfriend wasn't so big an obstacle after all. And she only wanted to borrow him. As cute as Evan was she didn't want to end her freedom. She just wanted to brighten both their days a bit. "You could come back to our place now and see if he is there?" she asked though she knew he was due back for several hours yet. She just thought it might be easier to seduce him if they were alone instead of in the middle of a crowded beach. "You could play my father's drums."
Evan hesitated just a moment, until the mention of drums. He never passed up the chance to play, and a famous person’s kit would be pretty awesome to play. See, she was being only friendly after all. “Sure! Would love to play them!” he enthused. “Oh, and uh, see Dare.” he added with a sheepish grin, grabbing all his stuff to put together, getting ready to leave.
Syn grinned glad that Dare was not Evan's priority. She gathered her towel and drink, as well as her shorts. She didn't bother putting them on as she had been told in the past that she had a fine ass and she was trying to drag Evan's thoughts towards her and away from the lucky Brittany. She led him to her apartment, taking any opportunities she could to touch him when changing directions and letting her hand linger on his arm or shoulder.
Evan did slip his shirt on, feeling uncomfortable with Syn being dressed as she was. And she kept touching him, he wasn’t sure if she was just being nice and he was being paranoid, or if she really had other intentions. Surely not, she knew he was taken. That had to be it then, she was just being nice. She was his friend’s sister.
When they got to the building, the doorman let them in right away and even rang Syn up to the Penthouse in the elevator so she wouldn't have to dig for her keys. "Thanks, Marcus," she said and grabbed Evan's hand to pull him into the elevator. She stood close to the other boy, but not too obviously. She could tell he was nervous, but that was a good sign as it meant he was noticing her. The elevator opened up right to their apartment and it was of course... impressive. Rufus came running up for his loving and Syn lifted him up and snuggled him. "This is Dare's puppy, Rufus. He is such a sweetie."
Evan, who could barely stop bouncing around most of the time, and of course couldn’t keep his mouth shut, had never been more still or quiet in his life as he stood next to Syn in the elevator, as stiff as a board. It was to some relief when the doors opened up. His jaw dropped just slightly, the place looked amazing. It had to be bigger, and much more expensive, than his modest little house. The puppy made him grin, and he reached over to pat its head. “He is pretty cute. Sweet name.”
Syn was tempted to make up some outrageous story about Rufus' name to see if she could make Evan blush, but didn't want to scare him off. "Dare named him after one of the characters on Gossip Girl that reminds him of our father," she said not mentioning that she thought the show was stupid and that Dare was being excessively cliché for watching it. "Would you like a drink? We have sodas and juice in the fridge and there is almost everything at the bar," she offered.
Dare watched Gossip Girl? Evan made a mental note to tease his friend, playfully of course, about that. The offer made him grin, the teenager feeling just a little relaxed. She didn’t lie about her drinking habits. Still, it was probably a good idea he didn’t drink. “Uh, coke is fine.” He decided, looking around the apartment. “Your place is amazing.”
"Make yourself at home. The loft on the left is Dad's don't go in there, but you can go anywhere else," Syn offered as she went to get his coke from the kitchen area. There was a slide coming down from her loft and a rope swing from Dare's. Maddog had a fireman's pole. They were fun but practical as well in case of a fire, the ladders wouldn't slow them down.
“Ok.” Evan accepted the offer, more than happy to take a look around the place. And of course he got a little bit excited seeing the rope swing, and more than a little seeing the slide. He was just a big kid after all. He couldn’t imagine living in a place like this, it seemed so awesome. And just a little bit too big to get comfortable. His place might be small, but it was cozy. Still, he wouldn’t say no to a slide. “Um, so Dare’s not home?” Or anyone else for that matter.
"Doesn't seem to be," Syn said, but called out her brother's name just in case. She even knocked on the bathroom door for show as she brought Evan his coke. She had a Sierra Mist for herself, for some reason she felt reluctant to get drunk, like she might need her wits about her later. She had had feelings like this before and she was always glad when she followed up on them. "Follow me. I will show you the studio. Dad is in Maryland so don't worry about him." She led him to the back where there was a door. "This used to be three apartments, Dad didn't want to share so he bought all three of them and put doors between. One is just storage and this one is the studio and guest rooms. She opened the door and there was another apartment that was similar, but didn't have lofts. Instead it had two actual bedrooms off the main room which had one wall mirrored with instruments everywhere and a few couches and chairs strewn around for lounging. There was a platform for the band and a room with recording equipment.
He’d really been hoping that Dare would be home, Evan’s little uncomfortable feeling starting to get more so. But if he was just being paranoid, and left now, it could offend Syn, when she was quite possibly only trying to make friends. After all, she was new, and if she was having problems with Dare, probably lonely. It made him feel a little sorry for her. Maybe he could introduce her to Brit and Mal.
Evan walked into the next room, his jaw dropping even more. There really were benefits to being super rich. “This is amazing Syn!” he commented, in absolute awe, looking at the drum kit most longingly. But the whole place was so cool, he couldn’t wait to jam. He rubbed at his neck, looking around, lazily sipping his coke. So frigging cool.
Syn grinned, remembering how she felt when she first saw it. "Go ahead, just don't break the heads," she encouraged him and went to snuggle with Rufus on one of the love seats. She would rather have dragged Evan with her and climbed all over him, but she had a feeling he would run if she moved too fast.
“Really?” Evan asked, still in awe that he would get to play something he would probably never be able to afford. But just in case she changed his mind, he quickly rushed over to the kit, grabbing some nearby drumsticks and perching so delicately on the seat behind. And with the grin still on his face, he played, nothing in particular, just a heap of different sounds and beats that sounded good to his ears. And after a few minutes he stopped, a thin bead of sweat forming on his forehead. He always went all out. “Maybe I should wait till the weekend. Being a bit rude and anti social.” he laughed.
Syn giggled, "Well you're always welcome to join me. Rufus doesn't bite, I promise," she said thinking she couldn't say the same about herself.
Laughing, Evan grabbed his coke, gently returning the drum sticks before making his way over to Syn. He chose a seat close to her, thinking they looked rather small for two people. Unless the two people were planning to get really, really close. “And here I was thinking he looked like a vicious dog.”
"Oh he is... but he knows you are a friend," Syn said with a smirk, as she moved to sit next to him. "See these vicious teeth and claws." She pulled up his lips and Rufus just grinned at Evan. Syn's leg pressed against Evan's and her face was very near to his. Her breath smelled of citrus.
Now more than a little nervous, Evan started to think frantically of a reason he could leave, without offending Syn. Maybe he had to pick up his mum? Or take his snakes to the vet? He tried to think of something that sounded like it could be true. And in the meantime, he tried not to pay attention to how close she was, or how kinda nice her breath felt on him, staring at the vicious dog instead. “Oh yeah, that’s just scary.” he chuckled awkwardly; eyes locked on the dog, once again rubbing at his neck, a nervous habit.
"Is your neck bothering you?" Syn asked setting Rufus on his lap and getting up on her knees. She moved his hand and began to rub his back. This put her breasts right in his face and as she was in a bikini, there wasn't much between them. "Is that helping?" she asked in an innocent tone, though her eyes were sparkling with mischief. They couldn't be seen though as her head was way above his in this position.
Evan froze as Syn moved to start rubbing at his neck for him. He was only glad about Rufus being on his lap to help keep a distance for just a moment, before he found his face almost completely pressed up against her breasts and his small amount of nerves suddenly exploded. Before Brit, he wasn’t exactly a ladies’ man, but he did okay. He certainly wasn’t used to this kind of attention though. “Um...yeah, feels much better thanks.” he quickly rushed, his eyes firmly shut.
Syn slid down and kept her hands behind Evan's head to keep him in place as she pressed her lips to his full lips. She could tell he was on his last nerve, but she wanted at least a kiss to show for her work. "Oh you taste so good Evan. Does all of you taste this good?" she purred against his lips. Rufus jumped off and Syn set her firm butt down on his lap, her hip pressing against his groin.
He was thought that perhaps her innocent flirtations were maybe not so innocent, but now he knew it for sure. Evan tried to move away as Syn kissed him, but she kept him locked in place. He didn’t kiss her back though, even if her lips did feel really soft. He really cared about Brittany, he couldn’t do that to her. Not that he wanted to either, even if all this attention was really flattering.
Her question made his eyes widen, and before he could respond, she quickly climbed into his lap and he had to hold back a groan. Really wasn’t used to this. “Um..no...dunno...guess you would have to ask Brittany that.” he told her, panicking, trying to wiggle his way out from underneath her.
The wriggling below her was enough to set her really aglow and Syn pressed against him. "I could find out for myself. Then I would know for sure since everyone's taste is different," she whispered huskily and pressed her tongue against his lips seeking entrance as her hands moved over his body.
Evan didn’t think Syn could get any closer to him, but apparently anything was possible. He looked beyond nervous now, and when she said she could find out for herself how he tasted, he went to tell her with complete certainty that she would not be finding out. But of course, to do that he had to open his mouth, and that was exactly what she was after it seemed, her tongue pressing against his before he could stop her. And he felt her hands, rather eagerly groping him. He had a girlfriend, he reminded himself once more, pulling away a bit rougher this time, helping pull her off his lap. “I have a girlfriend.” he repeated to her, reaching for his bag. “Uh, I’ve gotta go.”
As admirable as Evan's faithfulness was, it was merely frustrating to Syn. "I wouldn't tell her. I am really good, I have been told so a lot of times and I am so lonely. Please don't leave," she begged, willing to plead if it meant she wouldn't have to take care of her needs all by herself. She didn't reach for him again though, knowing he would definitely run then. "You're so cute. I haven't met anyone I wanted this much before. I would treat you right; I would do anything you asked me to."
Pretty much everything Syn just told Evan would have been the best thing he ever heard, if he didn’t have a girlfriend. But he really cared about Brittany, always figured himself to be a faithful sort of guy, and he wasn’t going to change that, even a cute girl. He cared too much for his girl. He did feel a little bad for Syn though, she seemed a bit down. “I’m sorry you’re lonely.” he admitted, slowly backing away. “But that doesn’t mean you have to sleep with someone you don’t know. Being friends is good too.” he reasoned. But still, Brit! And so he took a further step back.
Syn sighed, totally defeated. She had never been rejected before and she didn't know how to handle it. Especially since she had totally laid herself on the line by begging him. "I'm not the kind of girl guys want to be friends with," she murmured and went to open the door to the other part of the apartment as she at least had enough manners to walk him to the door. "Sorry for bugging you... Please don't tell Dare about this." She thought if her little brother knew she would never be able to look him in the face again which would mean she would have to start running again.
Evan had a quiet afternoon ahead of him, his girl, his best mate and all his other friends busy. And a peaceful few hours at home was quite unnerving, so having nothing better to do, he decided to head to the beach. It was usually always crowded, which was perfect for him.
