Though he had expected his date with Maggy to be different to any date he had ever been on before, ever since the girl rocked up to his house in her car / monster truck, but what surprised Tyler, was just how much he enjoyed the difference.
He had never been one to spend his dates doing a great deal of talking, usually because the girls he dated were often the ones you couldn’t have much of a conversation with. Unlike Maggy, who, during the course of the evening, increased his opinion of her greatly. Besides being dangerous on the road, she was smart, more so than him, and that was big of Tyler to admit that. She was also quite surprisingly witty without trying, and seemed to care a lot about her friends. And he had also noticed a habit of hers to chew on her lower lip, he didn’t know if it was due to nerves or something else, but he always has found that very sexy in girls. And Maggy was no exception.
So, without realising, Tyler began to relax himself, momentarily forgetting about playing his little game, and just enjoyed his date’s company. He talked about himself, more than he could remember talking to anyone ever, in one night anyway. It usually took a long while to get to know him, he had never found it fun to talk about himself, at least like this, about what he liked, what he didn’t, his own interests. And so he told Maggy about how much he loved football, just for the fun of the game, though winning was great too. That besides his father having to talk him into it to look good for college, he enjoyed being on the debate team. He even had a laugh about his hate of novelty ringtones.
It was only when she drove him back home that Tyler remembered he couldn’t honestly be interested in her, they were completely different after all, and she unlike anyone he had even been interested in. He reminded himself about his fun little game, how the girl was supposed to be a bit of entertainment. How he, Tyler Durnham, could not honestly already be looking forward to a second date with a band girl. But despite his way with words, he was having trouble convincing himself. He was sure he would be back to normal after a good night’s sleep, to clear his head.
“Glad you think so.” he smiled warmly at Maggy, staring straight back into her eyes. He wouldn’t finish a date like this however, so, unbuckling his seatbelt, Tyler leaned over quickly before she could pull away, and pressed his lips to hers in what had to be one of the chastest kisses of his life. He really had to restrain himself. Pulling away, he smiled again, a little more brightly this time. “Goodnight, Maggy. I’ll see you tomorrow at school.” With that, he hopped out of the car and into his house, without a single look back.
