Well, Tina’s outburst wasn’t quite what Tyler had been expecting. It seemed that the time here in California was doing the girl could, she was coming out of her shell more and more, becoming more confident. And she was observant, he couldn’t exactly say she was wrong about every point she made. He did feel that Maggy could be a little bit more appreciative of the time he spent with her, that she could be a little more...open with him. Aly could be considered as a bitch by some, but to his mind, she was just confident, knew what she wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it. He found it an admirable trait. Melodee was a little stuck up, he supposed, but he preferred to think of it as her being proper, and knowing the right people to associate with. But he certainly wouldn’t say he was too good for any of them, even Maggy.
He considered what she had to say though, smiling as he noticed Tina peek up at him, as if trying to gauge his reaction. “Tina, I do appreciate you caring about this.” he told her, stealing another fry. “But you know me, I’m not one to take such things seriously. I’m far too young for that.” He leaned back, letting his eyes wander the room, now taking in the sight of the few waitresses around. “But thanks for your concern.”

Tina realized her fries were disappearing rapidly and so began to eat them in earnest. "mmmm," she murmured happily. "I think that you aren't giving monogamy a chance. There can be just as much sex, just with the same partner and the feelings would be deeper. You can still have fun just with a girl that cares about you more deeply." Tina thought that he could have better choice as well. But then he seemed happy with the whores he was seeing. She didn’t understand that at all. “I guess I am going to have to try your lifestyle. After this party is over I will go out some more and see what you find so attractive about being a playboy. Then I will settle down once you decide to. There are enough boys at our school that I think I should find it easy to sleep around like you.”
The waiter returned and Tina ordered some cheesecake, slipping him her number secretly so Tyler wouldn’t see it. She was grateful for her own cell phone.

Plenty of sex was exactly what Tyler wanted, after all, he was young and good looking, why shouldn’t he take advantage of it? But with only the one girl? He wasn’t exactly thrilled at that prospect. Of course he saw the option as inevitable, he wasn’t planning on remaining a bachelor forever, he figured he wouldn’t need to attempt monogamy for at least twenty years or so, when he eventually had to settle down and get married, have kids. Unless he got lucky and his wife believed in having an open marriage. Until then, he was planning on living it up and making the most out of his blessings. It was the responsible thing to do. Not everyone was as lucky as him, so it would be neglectful to let it go to waste. Deep feelings and all that, what seemed so important to Tina, only got in the way of fun.
He was about to point this out to her before she continued and he found himself distracted enough to forget to swallow properly. He started coughing before grabbing his coke and downing the remainder. Tina could have flaunted handing over her number, he wouldn’t have noticed. When he recovered, and they were alone, he stared at her for a few brief seconds, with the most serious expression he could muster.
“Nope. I forbid it.” he decided, before giving a small grin. “Not that I could stop you if you really wanted to, you are a Durnham, there’s no stopping us. But I like to think I know you well by now, given you are my sister and all. You and I, we’re just different people. Do you really think it wouldn’t bother you, sleeping around with every guy in the school, not dating?”

Totally offended, Tina glared at Tyler. “You forbid it?! What a hypocrite! If you can live in a state of free love then so can I . And I wasn’t asking your permission anyway. “ Grabbing her plate of fries she turned away and began to eat in silence. Despite her normally quiet demeanor, Tina had quite a temper. Injustice was one of her major triggers.
“Since you can’t restrict my dating I think I will see if I can fill up my calendar and then hope they are as interested in experimentation as I am. I think my reputation will become known quickly and then it should be easier to make dates.” Tina smiled rather smugly, her eyes glinting with amusement. “I might not restrict myself to boys either. I hope we don’t date the same girls… that would be tough. I might ask Bree out. I really like her and she deserves someone that will treat her right.”
Tina sighed and said softly. “I guess tomorrow night would be the best time to start.”

It was a very good think Tyler currently wasn’t eating, as everything else Tina continued to say just would have made him choke all the more. So what he was a hypocrite, he knew what would be said if Tina started sleeping around as much as he did. It may be wrong, but things were still very different for guys and girls that way. Sloane was quite an exception in that regard. He doubted his sister could get off so easily. And he really couldn’t see her enjoying his lifestyle. He would hate her feeling less about herself for forcing herself to do something like that, just trying to prove a point.
“Date guys or girls. You know I couldn’t care less about that Tina. If that’s really want you want. But experimentation? Come on, we know that’s not you. I really appreciate you trying to help me out sis, but this isn’t the way to do it. We both know you’re better than that. I’m sorry for being a hypocrite. But come on, the thought of my little sis with all those guys...” he trailed off at this, preferring not to think about it. “If that’s what you want, I won’t stop you. But don’t do it cause you’re trying to prove something to me.” He hoped this honesty, this display of brotherly affection, would be more than enough to dissuade her. “How bout we take the rest of the afternoon off, spend some time together?”
"What do you have in mind, Ty?" she asked, trying to decide if that was the reason she had or whether she really wanted to know what was going on in his mind. "Do you want to go car shopping today instead of waiting?" She was willing to go earlier if he was.
What Tyler had in mind was spending the remainder of the afternoon attempting to talk Tina out of her plan, but he wasn’t going to admit to that this early. “Well, car shopping sounds fine to me. I know you’ve been looking forward to it.” he grinned, visibly relieved the topic was off Tina, and boys, and what he had hoped so far was a non-existent sex life. They weren’t really pleasant things for him to think about.
He grabbed out his wallet, putting more than enough to cover the bill, and leave a pretty generous tip. Money had never been a concern of his. “And why don’t I take you out for a bit of a lesson beforehand. That way you can get used to driving. Then when we find the car you want, I’ll put a deposit down and when you get your licence, I’m sure our father would be more than happy for you to have it as a reward.”
Tina grinned, her ire forgotten. "Áll right, I think I can handle it,"Tina said, her courage bolstered by a full stomach. Plus she figured if she could conquer driving then Tyler would take her more seriously. She had been reading the rules and felt she was ready for the written test at least. Following him out to the car, she waved at the young waiter. She was sure he would call her once he was off work.
