Eden pulled out her weed and started rolling up another joint but stopped when she realized that Cole was going to play her song. "My song," she said with a smile, clapping her hands together like a child. She was excited to hear it although she really wasn't sure what to expect. She supposed something with her name in the refrain...she was pretty sure that's what it meant when people wrote songs about you.
He started playing it and she put the joint aside. It was rolled now but she'd wait to light it when he finished. He started strumming the guitar and she liked the sound of it...it was mellow and perfect. But as he started to sing, some of the words confused her...first it was the refrain...if he was the one she wanted to go to be to...and wake up with someone else in the morning... How did he know? How did he know that she wasn't just sleeping with him? There was no way he could no about her and Jett....
She felt a little panicked...thinking of him as a toy? Is that how she came off? Did she really act like she was too good for him? All these things worried her far too much for her to even notice any of the good things that had been said in the song. It was as if she was reverting to her old self...picking at all the bad things and ignoring the good. She lit up her joint. She needed to relax or it was going to be noticeable that the song upset her and she didn't want that. After all, Cole wasn't trying to upset her. She knew that much. He wouldn't be playing it for her if he thought it would upset her.
Her high intensified into that calm that she knew at well. She'd gotten more high than she'd intended but it was a good thing right now. Cole finished the song and didn't say anything. He just stared at her through the darkness. She wasn't sure what to say...what she should say, so she did the first thing that came to her mind. She leaned over to him and kissed him on the lips. "Thanks," she whispered simply. "No one's ever written a song about me before."
