Nate did not feel the least bit awkward. This situation was nothing new to him. he never felt awkward. Being social is what Nate did, to him it was easy for anyone to be in a social situation. Sometimes Nate had to remember some people were less sociable then he was. Nate made friends easily. OF course most of those friends were his own age. Not freshmen he barely socialized with. However, it was not above Nate to socialize with the younger crowd. Why not. They were people too, even in the other jocks treated them like an infestation. That was not Nate. He had better things to do, then knock the lunch out of some kids hands. That was just stupidity.
"Nice to meet you Levi, you to Roxy. See you both around. The invitation is open if you need it." Nate said as both of them turned to walk away. He just shrugged thinking maybe they were dating or something and wanted to be left alone. In which case Nate was more then happy to let the couple walk off. If he were in the boys shoes, he would not mind being alone with a girlfriend like that, but Nate was too old for her anyway.
Nate waved as they both left, not realizing he made the younger man question his motives. Although Trixie would not enjoy hanging out with freshmen, Nate would make her do it, because she needed to be nicer. Which thank god for DJ she was. Trixie seemed happy and when Trixie was happy she could be nicer then normal. Still a bitch but a nice one. If that made sense. Nate pulled out his phone to call Trix and find out where she was so he could go have his own lunch. If the couple, Levi and Roxy wanted alone time, then Nate would not push the issue of them having lunch with him and Trixie.

Levi didn't stop until he and Roxy were outside the school and far enough away that he was sure no one had followed them. He stopped, his breath slightly labored. “That was... close,” he managed, in between breaths. He waited a second to regain his composure before continuing. “Trixie Michaels is like, the meanest girl in school. Her and her brother Jayson eat freshman for lunch, so she's the last person in the world I'd ever want to have lunch with.”
Levi finally gathered the courage to look at Roxy again, and just a glance made him feel completely awkward again. It wasn't every day that some pretty girl came up to Levi, so to have it happen two days in a row was just weird. Okay, so there was Julia, but she played WoW and was kinda geeky like him. No doubt she saw Levi like a little brother, but even talking to her sometimes felt weird. But Roxy was not geeky, at least not that Levi knew of. He had never seen her down at Secret Lair, or any other of the stores, and she did not have the look of a geek. She knew what werewolves and vampires were, but every girl did anymore because of Twilight. Or, at least, they thought they did. To Levi, Twilight was just terrible fan fiction that somehow accidentally got published.
Still, Levi knew he owed this girl a lot. Even though he didn't like that a girl had to stand up for him, she did. And she had his lunch, so he was pretty much forced into his next question. “So, uh, you wanna sit here and eat?” His eyes cast themselves downward and a hand reached up to rub the back of his neck. Levi didn't talk to girls, let alone ask them question. Especially if the question involved hanging out in any capacity. He half expected her to start laughing, but he stood, gazing at the grass, waiting for the inevitable “No.”

Roxy nodded when Levi explained the Trixie situation. She wouldn't have wanted him to feel even more uncomfortable that he already seemed yet at the same time she now wished she could meet this Trixie girl. Roxy wasn't afraid of some mean girl and she wanted to prove it. Although part of that might still have been her on the high of standing up to the jocks.
Roxy smiled when Levi returned her gaze. She could size him up and see that he was an awkward sort of guy but Roxy didn't realize that it was her making him super nervous. Sure, she probably couldn't match him in geekdom but at the same time Roxy was pretty open to things. After all, half of the things that Thad and Ezzie got her into weren't necessarily things she'd consider herself into but by just giving it all a chance she had found herself having a lot of fun. Like she would have never considered going ghost hunting on her own. She didn't even believe in ghosts. And sure she'd ended up getting arrested in that case but the point was, that before the cops had showed up, she'd had a lot of fun doing it. The point was, that Roxy was usually pretty willing to try things, so whether Levi could out-geek her or not, it wasn't something that concerned Roxy. She more just wanted to make sure the guy was okay, since he seemed rather on edge.
"Sure," Roxy said with a shrug, plopping down where they stood. She started to pull some of the food out, resting in on her lunch bag as sort of a make-shift tray. "So, Levi...you go to Silver, right?" she asked as she started unwrapping one of her sandwiches. She could pretty much talk to anyone whether she knew them or not so was rather relaxed as she sat and started to eat with the boy. "How are you liking Gould so far?" she asked. "Oh, you know what--a bunch of us are going bowling on Sunday. I'm not sure exactly who, aside from Thad and Ezzie, but I think its gonna be both Silver and Gould peoples--you can invite your friends if you want," she offered although in the back of her mind she sort of wondered if Levi had friends. He was so nervous it made him come off as sort of a loner which was part of the reason Roxy was reaching out to him. She was trying to do something nice.

Levi hadn't really been expecting the girl to agree to the lunch invitation, so after she agreed, Levi wasn't quite sure what to do. He followed her lead in sitting down, but was slightly afraid to just reach into her bag to grab his apple. Sure, it was his apple, but it was her bag and Levi wasn't sure if it would be rude to just grab at it. Not to mention his had would have to move scarily close to her... girl parts. Just the thought of that alone kept Levi's hands in his lap.
She was talkative, though, and Levi felt a little more comfortable being able to answer questions rather than make conversation himself. “Umm, yeah. I used to go to Silver. I guess it's okay here. I have some friends that go here, so it's kinda cool I get to see them. You might know Denny Gold, maybe.” Levi wasn't sure if she did or not, but he knew Denny knew her. It would be interesting to see if Denny had exaggerated about anyone at Gould.
The invitation to go bowling threw Levi off a little bit. His first reaction was excitement that he was being invited to anything, especially by a pretty girl. That was quickly stymied, however, when he realized that it was on Sunday. “Oh, I'd love to but I'm gonna be busy. My dad's taking me and Denny somewhere. He won't say where, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be to see some of the new Dragon Mountain movie get filmed. It's my birthday.” He was used to people planning events on his birthday, since he rarely advertised the date or had big parties. Ever since his seventh birthday, when a donkey pooped on antoher kid and he was blamed, Levi hadn't had the nerve to try to invite too many kids over for a party. Plus, his dad would never be able to get a large group of kids on any set.
Still, the meal went well enough and there weren't any moments that Levi felt were horribly embarrassing. He eventually was able to retrieve his lunch, and though he was missing some things after the jocks had crushed them, he still had enough to eat to get him through the afternoon. And Roxy had been nice enough that Levi felt like maybe, just maybe, he had made another friend. The grin didn't leave his face the rest of the school day.
